RealClearPolitics: The GOP Is Not Losing Women Over Contraception

Multiple progressive outlets have recently seized on a poll that seems to show Republicans losing ground in the fight over female voters, which they attribute to the recent fight over the Obama administration’s contraception mandate currently being waged in Congress. However, RealClearPolitics has an article out today pointing out all the reasons why that particular diagnosis is not only alarmist, but dead wrong in almost every conceivable way:

The contraception firestorm concerned substantive differences over women’s health policy, feminism, religious liberty and abortion. But the heated debate over women’s issues, which began at the close of January, did not cost Republicans women’s support. Quinnipiac and Public Policy Polling (D) exhibit the same trend. Gallup found that Romney actually improved with women between mid-December and mid-February, a few weeks into the contraception debate. Obama’s job performance rating with women, in the Gallup poll, has remained steady throughout the debate, bobbing around 50 percent since the beginning of the year.[...]

Republicans should be concerned. The GOP nominee cannot win with only 37 percent of the female vote. Yet early head-to-head polls are not historically predictive. George W. Bush, like Romney, earned only 37 percent of the female vote in the CBS poll in February of 2000. But Bush won 43 percent of women on Election Day.

The article also warns that this would be less of a silly conclusion with a candidate like Rick Santorum, who has made social issues the centerpiece of his campaign for President. However, as they suggest, Romney has no obvious baggage that would cause him problems with female voters once the general election begins.

The only reason most female voters vote Left is because most non-Whites do. White women are becoming an increasingly small voting block due to massive non-White immigration. So, this is more about non-Whites voting Left than it is about women voting Left. Most White women still vote Republican.

Yes, they (radical progressives) tried this and see that it isn’t working, so now they are trying the race card thing with Trevon Martin. When that falls flat, they will try something else.

Latest Gallup poll: Obama has 9 point lead over Romney in swing states http://www.latimes.com/news/po...

Thanks Republican Establishment. As recently as October, Gallup reported that a generic Republican would beat Obama by 6 points. Now, because you insisted on nominating a Massachusetts Democrat who just happens to have an “R” after his name, you are not only going to lose the General Election but you are also going to lose a good percentage of your own base (including myself).

Do the math. Generic Republican beats Obama by 6 points. Obama beats Romney by 9 points. People want to vote for a Conservative, not a guy who governed to the left of Jimmy Carter.

I’m still holding out hope for Santorum but if Romney gets the nomination its time to say goodbye to the GOP (at least temporarily)
The Tea Party has always maintained an autonomous presence within the Republican Party. Now that the Republican Party is determined to become the Democratic Party v. 2.0, I think its time for the Tea Party to take the Conservative message to a new platform. They could ally themselves with the GOP again in the future but right now, for this election, I think it may be time to find a Third Party/ Tea Party candidate.

TNARC–if we say goodbye to the GOP now, then we say goodbye to it permanently.

You give Obama another 4 years and that’s the end of the GOP. The entitlement programs alone will ensnare enough voters for Democrats indefinitely.

Here’s a sound strategy: If you are someone who is concerned that Romney is too liberal, focus all your energy on your state’s congressional and senate races. Romney may be in the middle, but he‘ll govern from the right if he’s got a conservative Congress.

I for one intend to do all I can to make sure a conservative is sitting in my congressional seat. I will knock doors, make phone calls, everything. And I’m voting for whomever the GOP nominates for President.

Obama MUST go. We need to clean house in DC. I really don‘t care if you don’t like Romney. Allowing Obama another 4 years is disastrous and gets us no closer to draining the cesspool of Washington. Think of how Obama has grown the government the past 4 years. He did that with an election looming over his head. What do you think he would do without an election to answer to?

I am a woman, who has fought abortion and feminisim in it’s worst form and I will not vote for Romney or Obama in November. Both are cut from the same cloth, maybe some different colors and weaves, but at the end of the day, a vote for one is a vote for another. I will not reward stupidity with my vote and if the parties can juggle it to get Romney the Rep. nominee, I will no longer vote the lesser of two evils and will exercise my responsibility to vote my principles and not reward a broken political two party system that is taking us over the same cliff. If we have any chance of changing course, it will not be done by staying on the same course we have rewarded for the better part of a century, I will write in or vote third party and no, that does not constitute a vote for Ron Paul or Newt Gingrich. MO was a giant cluster *(&) this year and Santorum who took our state is going to lose because of the Republican Party machine that attempted to control the Missouri outcome to reflect the party and is losing to the Machinations of the Caucus. I will not vote the lesser of evils, I will vote principle if I have to write in a candidate that best reflects my principles and values. Romney and Obummer do not!

Unfortunately, a 3rd party vote is a vote Obama doesn’t have to make up over his opponent. Please re-consider your thoughts. If nothing else, think about Supreme Court Justices, which Obama will be appointing maybe 2. And not just them, also huge are other federal court judges. The liberal activism on the Courts has to get weeded out. Obama will assure that it doesn’t happen during his 4 years. Please reconsider your voting strategy for the sake of the nation.

When a conservative woman stays home on election day…you are in essence voting for the liberal. Sometimes as American women fighting for liberty, we have to pick the lesser of two evils. We have had to do this through the generations and we did not get this far by staying home. Susan B. Anthony didn‘t stay at home and you shouldn’t either….get out there…. hold your nose if you have to but VOTE REPUBLICAN!

      TNARC–

Have you gone to Santorum and Romney’s websites and read what their plans are on healthcare?

The descriptive language differs slightly but the goals are the same. Both label their plans “Repeal and REPLACE Obamacare.” The main difference is that Santorum‘s website says that he will work with Congress to achieve his goals while Romney’s website says he’ll turn the power over to the states by removing roadblocks to commerce such as allowing insurance portability and the ability for insurance companies to cross state lines, etc.

So Santorum is out there saying that he‘s going to use the Federal government to give us a new healthcare solution and Romney is saying it’s up to the states. This tells me that Santorum is still looking at a big government solution, which is the very reason I’m so opposed to Obamacare in the first place.

To sum up: Both candidates have a plan to replace Obamacare. The goals of the plans are the same. Santorum wants to implement his goals through Congress. Romney wants states to enact their own plans. Of the two, it turns out that I prefer Romney‘s giving the power to the states over Santorum’s big government, Congressional solution.

Not only is Barry O a creepy sociapathic liar and committed socilalist, his policies have failed miserably and he will double down on stupid if given a chance to continue his transformation of America. His “get whitey” reparations payments to his base and sellout to labor unions, environmentalists, the gay lobby, muslim extremists, and communist-wannabes will absolutely destroy America unless voters wake up to the clear and present danger and run this radical extremist out of town.
