‘Really?’: Chris Christie ‘Shouts Down’ Occupy Protesters at Romney Rally With Anti-Obama Tirade

On Sunday night in Exeter, it was official: There just might be no politician in America better at shouting down protesters than Chris Christie.
Turning out a crowd of hundreds at Exeter High School for a Mitt Romney rally just two days before Tuesday’s New Hampshire primary, the New Jersey governor drowned out a pack of Occupy Wall Street protesters who piped up at various points with chants of “Mitt kills jobs” and “Christie kills jobs.”
“Oh really,” Christie replied in acid tones when protesters began the chant. He pivoted to an attack on President Obama, accusing him of dividing the country and fueling the anger of young people like those being shouted down by Romney’s supporters.

“Really?” said Christie, as soon as protestors interrupted him, the second outburst of the night from the group, who had already gone after Romney. “You know, something may go down tonight, but it ain’t going to be jobs, sweetheart.”
“See it’s this confusion that’s out there because if she was in New Jersey like these Jersey girls out there she would know that we’ve created 60,000 new private sector jobs after Jon Corzine killed 120,000,” Christie said. “And if she wasn’t so blinded by her Barack Obama-induced anger, she’d know that American jobs are coming back when Mitt Romney is the next president of the United States, and if she wasn’t so disorientated by the loss of hope and change she’d understand that Mitt Romney is the hope for America’s future.”
Christie continued on, going further to blame the protestor’s anger on Obama.
“See, beware, this is a warning, this is a cautionary tale, be inspired by someone who has built a life that America can be proud of, not by a Chicago ward politician,” Christie said. “I doubt he is, but I hope the president’s watching. I have a message for you Mr. President. This is the type of disoriented anger your cynicism and your division is causing in our country. Bring our country together, stop dividing it, Mr. President.
“On second thought, Mr. President, if you’re up there in the family quarters of the White House, put your feet up and don’t worry about it. Mitt Romney’s going to bring America together,” Christie added.
As the crowd erupted, Christie continued in the forceful manner that made many Republicans wish he had entered the race.
“See, beware — this is a warning, this is a cautionary tale to be inspired by someone who has built a life that America can be proud of, not by a Chicago ward politician,” he said. “I doubt he is, but I hope the president’s watching. I have a message for you, Mr. President: This is the type of disoriented anger your cynicism and your division is causing in our country. Bring our country together — stop dividing it, Mr. President.”
Jane Ford, a 50-year-old from New Market, who had three Romney buttons pinned to her shirt and carried campaign signs, said she was inspired by the speculation that Romney could choose Christie as his vice president. “If this country was blessed enough to have both of them,” she said. “America would be the shining city on top of the hill again.”
Her co-worker at an insurance company, Penny Haslan, 48, a registered Democrat, is also excited by the prospect. “(Christie) is the muscle, and Romney’s got more of the polish,” she said. “I’ve always voted straight ticket, but this makes me think twice.”

Posted on January 9, 2012 at 1:53amWHAT ROMNEY REALLY BELIEVES…Christians beware!
The Deity of Man. Promoted Mormons teach that man can become God, and that God was once a man:”God himself, the Father of us all, is a glorified, exalted immortal resurrected man!” (Bruce McConkie, Mormon Doctrine, pp. 322-23, 517, 643) ”…God himself was once as we are now and is an exalted man and sits enthroned in yonder heavens…” (Journal of Discourses, V6, P3, 1844) ”As man is, God once was: as God is, man may become.” (Lorenzo Snow, quoted in Milton R. Hunter, the Gospel Through the Ages, pp. 105-106)This is plain and simple heresy. Nowhere does the Bible say or imply that God was ever a man, or that man can become God! Malachi 3:6 says, “For I am the LORD, I change not…” How could this be true if God was once a man? Genesis 1:1 states that God existed “in the beginning” before man was ever created. John 4:24 states that God is a “spirit,” and Jesus tells us in John 1:18 that no man has seen God at any time. Numbers 23:19 says that “God is not a man that he should lie; neither the son of man that he should repent.” God has always been God, and no one has ever “become” God.

Posted on January 9, 2012 at 1:54amOther False TeachingsThe Mormons deny the Trinity and the existence of a literal burning Hell, yet they promote polytheism (many gods), baptism for the dead, and the notion that Jesus and Satan were originally spirit brothers! Friend, make no mistake about it–Mormonism is a dangerous cult. In the eyes of man, the Mormons seem very respectable, but the light of God’s word reveals the true wolves behind the sheep clothing. Jesus said, “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.” (Mat. 7:15) Don’t look at their nice families, their clean-cut hair, and their friendly “missionaries.” LOOK AT THEIR DOCTRINES! (I Tim. 4:1)

Posted on January 9, 2012 at 1:57amDeity of Jesus Christ DeniedThe Deity of Jesus Christ is a fundamental doctrine of Christianity, yet the Mormons deny this truth. Exalting man to “god status” is apparently alright, but Jesus Christ is not acknowledged as the eternal Son of God in the Mormon church. The Mormon Jesus was a preexisting spirit who was exalted, just as Mormon followers hope to be exalted someday.

Posted on January 9, 2012 at 6:15amYou can believe you will play a harp in heaven. You can believe that those who die without even knowing about Jesus Christ on this earth are just damned forever in a burning hell by a God that supposedly loved them. You can believe that hell lasts forever, even though this life and all the wrong we did in it lasted only say, 80 years. You can believe that God is the Trinity even though the Bible says nothing about it, and Jesus teaches just the opposite. You go ahead and believe that we are mere creatures, bugs in God’s world, when Jesus taught that we are the children of God and that His Father is our Father in Heaven, making himself equal in a sense with the humans He was teaching. Go ahead and spread the antimormon hate because people can think. People can see the common sense in the doctrine, and it is easy to identify the really strange and unbiblical ideas and creeds that go against everything Jesus ever taught in His famous Sermon on the Mount. Things like being told to be perfect like Father in Heaven is perfect. Things like being taught to love your enemies, and practice the golden rule. The Beattitudes, be meek, not brash, peacemakers, not war makers. Yet we see Santorum and so many Christians who support all these wars when I am certain Jesus would have nothing to do with it. Jesus loves the Muslims too, and Jesus did not make war. He taught love enemies. Now go to that, and STOP trying to persecute the Mormons, it only hurts yourself.

No you’re right. His warnings were to the Christian Church, not non-believers. Do NOT accpet ANY teachings that vary from Gods’ WORD-The Bible. Posted on January 9, 2012 at 12:38pmWith all due respect if you’re going to attack someone for their beliefs get your facts correct. First of all without God (Jesus) becoming a man salvation would have been impossible. In order to obtain forgiveness there must be the shedding of blood for sin. Jesus offered that sacrifice of blood. You cannot nit pick Bible verses to conform to your beliefs. YOU must confrom your beliefs to the Bible. I will now give you a couple of verses that will support my position…….John 1:14 Galatians 4 4-5 1 Timothy 3 :16 Isaiah 9:6 And one final thing..where were you and critical people like you before the last election beating up OJUDAS for being a muslime. It was common knowledge before the election he was a muslime. Where were you and your like kind pronouncing that OJUDAS wasn’t a Christian ???? I am in NO WAY defending the Mormons. In my opinion they are a cult. If ANY religion does not profess that Jesus was and is God then that religion is a cult. In terms of God there is NO gray area. It is in fact black and white.God Himself said that he would rather you be hot or cold as to be lukewarm. God is NOT religion He is a relationship. We humans want to put Him in a box to suit our needs. He never said that we would be Gods, what He did say that we would become SONS of God. I already am and I’m waiting to take my place on the stage in Heaven. Lift up your eyes your redemption draws near.

All we need is a devision of Americans based on religious beliefs. The president has as his priority to strengthen America’s economy, create a base for more and better jobs and bring back America to the best country in the world. Religious strife will only kill all these dreams. It is enough to believe that America trusts in God, but who‘s God doesn’t enter the equation.

Posted on January 9, 2012 at 2:17pmA second question for the thoughtful voter is related to and flows from the first: Will the candidate subscribe, without any “mental hesitation or purpose of evasion,” to the oath to protect and defend America’s Constitution? If the answers to those closely connected questions are yes, then voters should proceed to cast their ballot on the basis of the candidate’s qualifications, platform and policy positions — not the candidate’s membership (or lack thereof) in a particular faith community.
Report Post »In fact, a number of great presidents have come to the White House without membership in any faith community. Thomas Jefferson was a Deist and was vigorously attacked for his religious views (or lack thereof). Abraham Lincoln, as a matter of conscience, refused to join any church. Yet our nation’s capital rightly dedicates two of its most stately monuments to those two men of unorthodox spiritual worldviews.
More recently, the great cultural chasm between Catholics and Protestants was politically overcome with the election of John F. Kennedy. Similarly, then-Vice President Al Gore’s choice of Sen. Joe Lieberman, a practicing Jew, as his running mate in 2000 signaled the welcoming openness of America’s democratic experience to individuals who did not share the Christian faith but were honorable statesmen of steely commitment to America’s constitutional principles.

Posted on January 9, 2012 at 2:29pm@ Truth and the other ‘mormon haters’. Do you realize how tired everyone here gets when you hijack a post about politics with anti-mormon rhetoric? Do you not realize that we have already read it somewhere else, and your self-important wisdom and groundbreaking theology is unnecessary and unneeded?
And as far as your logic regarding apostate people, your argument falls flat if you first assert that Mormons are not Christians. How can they depart from a faith you claim they never were a part of in the first place? If you look at religious history (using FACTS..not conjecture) with your apostasy argument, somewhere along the line from the apostles forward is when it had to happen.
Was it after Galerius legalized Christianity in the Post-Apostolic era? Was it when the council of Nice met (which by the way was called to order by a political ruler who saw the POLITICAL advantages in uniting under one religion)? Was it during the Great Schism? Was it Martin Luther? Anglicanism? Protestantism? I mean dude…when did it happen? Or do you just get to be the branch of Christianity that decides who is apostate and who is not? Hubris…pure hubris.
Theologically, Mormons claim to be a restoration of the original church founded by Jesus, wholly separate from Orthodox Christianity (trinitarianism). If you cannot define when and where doctrine strayed from the original Christian doctrine from the mouth of Christ, then maybe the Mormons have it right after all….

Posted on January 10, 2012 at 4:43amHOW THE CULT OF MORMON WORKS;
1. In Temple recommend interviews, members are told that the interviewer represents Jesus and should answer all questions as if they were talking to Jesus. This is a break down of barriers designed to condition the member to completely submit to church’s authority2. Naked touching in the temple washing and anointing ritual also breaks down barriers, creates submission to church authority [This eternal ordinance was changed in Jan 2005 see mormon366.htm ] 3. New name, suggests reassignment of identity4. Temple endowment experience is hypnotic, produces a relaxed, even sleepy alpha like state for receptivity to church indoctrination, oaths, instruction, commitment. Similar to Moonie repetitive indoctrination sessions where chanting, singing, and long periods of lecturing happen.5. Secret signs, tokens, passwords to get into Mormon heaven. If one does not have this exclusive information, they will be denied access past certain angels along the way back to God’s presence. This is an element of control designed to produce exclusivity6. Requirement to wear church approved underwear night and day, conditioned to believe they possess special protections. Another design to control via exclusivity.

Yearly face to face confrontation with a high church authority to declare to him (as the lord’s representative) how much money the member was able to give to the church. Encouraged to give everything that the lord blesses you with even ones time, talents to the building up of the LDS church. In addition to tithes, generous fast offerings are encouraged. Giving to other charities or worthy causes outside the church is heavily discouraged. The member intuitively knows that the tithing, fast offering, missionary funds and perpetual education funds must be donated to first… and only THEN should outside charities be considered. This cult characteristic, to me, falls under extreme duress to give only to the church organization. The member is even told that if the tithing is not “honest” they will literally burn up at the Lord’s 2nd coming.8. Outsiders not permitted to enter the temple. Exclusivity.9. Members believe Jesus literally walks the halls of the temples and no other buildings on earth receive this privilege. There is only Faith promoting rumors to back this up of course. Yet it is a very strong and widely held belief in the church that this is so.10. There is a blatant Us vs. Them mentality. The LDS testimony conditions members to “know” based on feelings that they are the only ones on earth with the Truth or approved plan of God. Everyone else is wrong and must be saved or baptized into the LDS church.

Missions are extreme examples of Cult experience.A. 80 hrs a week free labor (Missionary makes no money) in fact the missionary pays largely for his own meals, lodging, transportation and clothing out of his own pocket. The missionary is told that the 2 years in service is a “tithing” of the first 19 years of his life that God gave him/her.B. When not working in field one is encouraged to read scripture & pray constantlyC. High amounts of self-indoctrination and mass indoctrination at zone, district meetings. Guilt tactics are used. If low recruit numbers are happening, the missionary is frequently blamed. Reasons for low recruit numbers are tied to unlikely reasons such as a lack of dedication or commitment to mission rules or even a suggestion that too many missionaries were masturbating too frequently in the past month. This is a gross abuse of mind control.D. Encouraged to frequently recite scripture and hymns, carry a prayer in ones heart at all times so as to fortify ones efforts to keep rules, remain “sanctified to the cause” and not have impure thoughts or masturbate.E. No outside influences, no TV, no radioF. Must always be with companion except for showers and toiletG. Confined to one area, not permitted to go outside geographic boundariesH. Extreme limited contact with family, letters once a week, no phone call home but twice a yearI. Primary job is to recruit new members, give the prospect milk and NO meat doctrine. Deception as soon as possible.

Posted on January 10, 2012 at 4:48am11. LDS church has more evidence to prove it false than it does to prove it true, yet members see this as a test of faith and God’s way of strengthening his “Elect”. Or members have been conditioned to never look at this material. Very similar to the Moonie approach that outside information was evil and falls under satanic origins. Anything that could potentially deprogram a Moonie was satanic. Family members, spouses, newspaper articles, radio… you get the idea.12. Members are encouraged strongly to never look at “anti” literature. Yet early apostles encouraged the discovery of truth and preached openly that truth would stand up to highest degree of scrutiny. This was before damning evidences to the church’s platform of ideology was widely known or even challenged. During this era, the church had a sense of infallibility as the saints were securely sequestered in the desert of Utah. Completely isolated from the outside world.13. Bishop interviews are obsessed with sexual purity for youth & missionaries. Adults have been told which sexual acts are permissible and which are not. Though, this is not consistent throughout the church. Young people must disclose any sexual acts, even minor ones. This young person (male or female) believes they are talking to Jesus Christ’s representative in these interviews. Lying to the bishop is equated to lying to Jesus.

There is a fear of imminent damnation if they leave the group.16. One man (the prophet figure) speaks for God. Members see this as extremely positive as they believe the prophet will never lead them astray. When confronted that prior prophets in history have been wrong or even preached harmful doctrine that was widely held up as God’s word (racial discrimination) the member quickly dismisses this. This is supported by the perceived good works the church produces and the notion that Mormonism produces good people and strong families

Men of many different faiths and degrees of faith agreed on core principles upon which to create this nation. Though predominately Christian, some were not. And that’s okay.
As long as Romney, Christie and others uphold the founding principles of this nation their faith matters not.
As long as Obama tries to “fundamentally transform” and destroy this nation, his pretense of Christianity (with one Marxist pastor after another) matters not.
Politically, we need a man of any faith who will faithfully uphold the duty of his office – to uphold, obey and defend this nation’s principles and Constitution. Get Obama out. There are plenty of qualified replacements of varying faiths.

The Creator did not write the tripe you try to shove down everybody’s throat. MEN DID. Plain, ordinary pants-one-let-at-a-time men who sorta know, deeeep in their little thumpers, there’s something out there. And that something created a universe which was supposed to be filled with the love of a big old family. Instead, propagandists like you have been allowed to breed. You are cordially invited to go thump someplace else. The Creator did not appoint you to attack any of the beautiful faiths practiced and adhered to today. Why don‘t you unthump your head and go meet a couple Mormans so that maybe next time you’ll know what you’re talking about. It‘s the only faith I’ve studied that I’d consider being a part of, and I study them all. Why? BECAUSE NO SINGLE THEOLOGY HAS THE ANSWER. Having read both the 5000 Year Leap, and The Making of America, and watched the youtube video, The Money Masters, and The Creature from Jekyll Island, I feel that I must follow my conscience and vote for the Constitutionalist.
I will not be railroaded into believing that the future belongs to the predetermined party clan who promotes their guy. I am an individualist. I am for liberty for all. I find it striking that so many well meaning people allow fearmongers to browbeat them into submission. Herding them like cattle towards their chosen man.
The means does not justify the ends. The ends should be to choose the best person with the best views to the candidacy. The means should not be based upon expediency, impulse, fear, or the irrational belief that we should pick ANYBODY BUT OBAMA. That’s a recipe for quick fix, no solution, business as usual, more of the same big government. We need a reasoned, seasoned, person of deep understanding. Ron Paul has that. Romney shows clearly that he has no grasp of the reasoning of the constitution. He didn’t know about the right to privacy, he doesn’t understand the simple basics that are spelled out clearly in the 5000 Year Leap.

Your truth is quite convoluted, isn’t it? I know some Mormons (not many), but the ones I know are all upstanding people. I also know some Christians that believe Catholics are some kind of cult. I am a Catholic, and I faithfully believe that the Catholic Church was started by Jesus Christ, himself. I also believe that the Pope was originally installed by Jesus Christ to interpret the doctrines of Jesus Christ . Protestants protest these original doctrines, and Lutherans refuse to accept the authority of the Pope. So be it.

Posted on January 9, 2012 at 4:01amDiane, as a catholic, have you ever taken an oath like the following?
I took this oath as part of my temple endowment. I also took it in the name of a multitude of the dead, perhaps one of your ancestors…
You and each of you covenant and promise before God, angels, and these witnesses at this altar, that you do accept the law of consecration as contained in this, the book of Doctrine and Covenants [he displays the book], in that you do consecrate yourselves, your time, talents, and everything with which the Lord has blessed you, or with which he may bless you, to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, for the building up of the kingdom of God on the earth and for the establishment of Zion.
Each of you bow your head and say, “Yes.”
The LDS concept of the Kingdom of God on the EARTH…well look into what the prophets who wrote that oath had in mind… Look into some of the oaths we dropped from our rituals in order to appear more mainstream. Perhaps the LDS church isn’t trying to take over the world ANYMORE despite what their early prophets said even into the 1900s but they should at least be honest with us as your church has begun to do regarding some of its past mistakes. Let me reiterate that I and my Mormon friends are likewise good and decent, though deceived, citizens as I am sure your friends are. If Mitt is elected, he will have unprecedented power. Think Patriot act, drone assassinations and NDAA for starters…

Posted on January 9, 2012 at 5:27amTRUTH – It wasn’t too many years ago that the Christian “religion” was nothing but a ‘cult’ by the standards of those days. Now look at it – fractured and shattered by various splits and interputations like not being allowed to seek medical attention or take transfusions, dancing and playing cards being a sin, having a glass of wine being a sin, etc. Three branches of Lutherans, how many flavors of Baptists (?), Christian Scientists…
SPINMD – The whole polygamy thing is a non-starter. Main stream Mormons left that long ago. Riddle me this – why does the government dictate how many people can be in a marriage AS LONG as they all know about the others and are in it of their own will? Why is it treated differently than gay marriage? Or heterosexual or gay civil unions?
It is too bad that more religions don’t “suggest” that their members have a minimum of a 3 month supply of food for each family member laid away. I know people that go to the store every day. What happens if the trucks don’t restock the stores? Look at the mess that occurs EVERY time a hurricane is inbound or a big snow predicted…runs on grocery stores and gas stations.
Oh, SPINMD, here’s a hint… If you want to get rid of the religious people coming to your door trying to convert you just explain to them that you are a pagan, even if you aren’t, and happy the way you are. They will stop showing up. Must be some type of missionary grapevine out there!

When he beats Obama watch for the middle class to continue to lose it’s share of income to the 1% and the wealth gap to hit new highs, greater than ever, and there to be more poor with fewer social safety nets. I see no hope until the left and right formerly middle class voters are so impoverished by the policies of the GOP and Dems that we finally get a third party that actually will stand for middle income citizens vs the wealthy and connected. A constitutional amendment barring corporate personhood would be a good start along with publicly financed elections. Next take the profit out of health care and education like the rest of the world.

Peter never took the title of Pope, nor was he ever known as such. That was a man made title instituted by religionists not true Christians, and you will find no reference to Peter as a pope in the Bible. Peter was not the Rock that Christ built His church upon, but the revelation to Peter by the Holy Spirit that Christ was the Son of God, that revelation of Jesus Christ, who is “the Rock” that His church was built upon. Posted on January 9, 2012 at 9:47amGet over this “cult” nonsense – it is nothing more than simple religious prejudice, and it’s silly, to boot.
Two of the worst presidents in American history were devout Presbyterians: Woodrow Wilson and LBJ. Woodrow Wilson, a preacher’s son, said that religion was his driving force and he believed he was on a divine mission to reform America into a socialist utopia. Does being a devout “main stream” protestant make for a better President? Obviously not.
I personally think that holy rollers convulsing on the floor and babbling in tongues are kind of silly – it’s certainly non-Biblical, but that wouldn’t prevent me from voting for a Pentecostal; but hey, that’s just me.
My point is that a candidate’s religion should not be the main factor in choosing a president. Does one love the country? Does one believe in American exceptionalism and will they pledge to place America’s interests ahead of all others? Will one protect and defend the Constitution? Will one protect and defend our borders? Is one a person of honor? Is one a strong leader? These are the questions that should be used to judge whether a candidate is fit to serve as President.

All politicians have been enticed by “the machine”. They all make it their living instead of their passion. They work for their selfish ambition instead of a government “for the people”. Create infallibility and Omnipotence; Included in this mystique is a sense of “higher purpose,“ of having ”directly perceived some imminent law of social development”; the pursuit of which must supersede all considerations of decency or acceptable social behavior.
Demand for Piety;the experiential world is sharply divided into the pure and the impure. All “taints” and “poisons” which contribute to the existing state of impurity must be searched out and eliminated in individuals and society as a whole.
The “Sacred Science”:The totalist milieu maintains an aura of sacredness around its basic dogma, holding it out as an ultimate moral vision for the ordering of human existence. This sacredness is evident in the prohibition (whether or not explicit) against the questioning of basic assumptions, and in the reverence which is demanded for the originators of the Word, the present bearers of the Word, and the Word itself.
This is a really good excerpt from a book written on the subject of how the Chinese people were converted to Communism, but can be applied to other politics as well.

Posted on January 9, 2012 at 2:09am@SpinMD
The “Commitment Pattern”, which was a part of the Uniform System for Teaching the Gospel, was no big secret. It was a very effective way to train young, inexperienced men and women in the skills and attributes that make for successful missionaries. That is when properly applied. Anyone could purchase and read the old Missionary Guide for themselves and see that motivating via guilt, fear, or coercion was specifically discouraged throughout the training, and the primary focus was to teach by the Spirit, and to invite others to act accordingly.
Makes sense to me that if you are going to send missionaries out to interact with people, and to be instruments in the hands of God in bringing souls unto him, that you should train them with the teaching skills that will make them effective in helping people commit to gospel principles. The training also taught those young men and women basic skills such as listening, finding out peoples thoughts and feelings, and helping resolve concerns. It taught them to respect peoples cultures and previous strongly-held beliefs. Did you miss all that when you were a missionary?
I’ll never forget how in the MTC I realized that I spent more time thinking about what I was going to say next than listening to people while teaching. The Missionary Guide and “Commitment Pattern” helped me be a better person, by teaching me to listen among other things.
There was nothing manipulative about any of it. Only correct principle

I read your link and I found this quote interesting.
“In general, the church doesn’t care very much about what you believe, and cares a lot about what you do. The Commitment Pattern is the tool the missionaries use to turn your actions into those of a Mormon, step by step.”
Does it surprise you that Missionaries (and the Church) are concerned about helping converts live according to the teachings of the Church before being baptized? In case you forgot, living in accordance to basic gospel principles is a requirement before baptism. No secret there.
Beyond that, the quote is dead wrong that the Church doesn’t care about what people believe, rather what they do. The baptism interview explores mainly whether the convert actually believes and has a testimony born by the Spirit before becoming a member. But you knew that, having been a missionary before.
The commitments serve not only to help people repent of their sins, but also to help them gain a personal witness of the blessings associated with obedience to God’s laws. The missionaries are simply following the teachings of Jesus in this regard.
“If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself. ” John 7:17
That’s why there is an emphasis on helping people live the principles. The “belief” or testimony necessary for true conversion is obtained from God, by way of obedience, which is an act of “faith” to begin with.

Yep, as a Zone Leader, I taught the commitment pattern, which we referred to as the manipulation pattern in the ranks, to young bucks to go convert those souls. I also had a big white board where we kept track of “our numbers” which we called into headquarters every night. Zig Ziglar would have been proud. Business was good.
Knock knock…
Hi, I am Elder—-, of the church of JCLDS,.
Do you love your family? How would you like to spend forever with them? You would? Will you allow me to share a message with you on how to make that possible. We invited people to baptism within one hour if we were good. 4th principle 1st discussion. Pray now. Ask God if Joseph Smith was a prophet. How do you feel? Will you accept that feeling as a message from God that Joe was a prophet and commitment to be baptized? You do. We have an opening this Friday at 7 pm and Sunday at 2pm. Which of those work for you. After we got that commitment, we would then teach the gospel principles such as tithing, chastity, word of wisdom, baptisms for the dead, and oh yeah you get to be a god someday.
What is manipulative about that? BTW, the feeling people get when publicly praying, perhaps for the first time ever, may simply be embarrassment not proof from the holy ghost that Joseph Smith’s first vision is true.
We were far worse than used car salesmen. Think door to door used car salesmen. But hey, we believed in our product. I guess that counts for something.

It’s clear you missed the point. I certainly never saw it the way you did, neither have I ever referred to helping people feel and recognize the Spirit and act accordingly as “manipulation”, and neither did I ever attempt to manipulate people as you taught the missionaries to do as zone leader. Sounds like you had it all wrong in your mind to begin with. You should have trained them not to be manipulative.
Also, I’m not sure I follow your logic. Is it really that odd that missionaries would teach people Mormon doctrine before they became Mormons in preparation for their baptism? That’s what missionaries do. Since we believe that paying tithing and offerings, going to church, living chaste lives, exaltation, are all principles of the gospel, is it really that odd that we teach about it?
I am glad that you acknowledge that missionaries do teach exaltation to converts. Many ex(now anti)-Mormons like to claim that they are never told about that, and that they shockingly find out later. But from the first lesson to the last we teach that the spirits of mankind are the literal offspring of God, and that we have an opportunity through Jesus Christ to become like him – heirs and joint heirs to all the Father has.
So, to sum it up. You had a wrong understanding of how to do missionary work, and you taught that wrong understanding to others, and now you use that as an example against the Church you left. How ironic.

Posted on January 9, 2012 at 10:07amSpinMD, as a former LDS missionary and life long member of the church I find that the apostate former missionaries (fortunately relatively few) are very susceptible to endless lies and every false wind that blows their way. In other words they are guilty of the very thing that they accuse good LDS of being.
For example the so called “white horse prophesy” is never and never has been taught in the church and neither was it anything that Joseph Smith taught. If was someone’s diary enter from 50 years after when they thought Joseph Smith said anything about that and long after his death.
If it was taught by Joseph Smith how would you explain D&C 77? The four horsemen that are mentioned in the opening of the first four seals of Revelation clearly describe events or characteristics of the first four millenniums starting with the fall of Adam and Eve. The opening of the first seal (white horse) describes the first thousand years not current events. So either the diary was wrong or Joseph Smith taught conflicting things related to the white horse (first seal) and the other three colors as well. Since you have nothing but anti Mormon literature to make your case I would go with the fact that he never taught what he is accused of.

Yet shall the Institutions of that same Utah, or of her people, out weigh all this — have more present influence in the destinies of the world, and abide and give laws and religion to man, when the best of mere human, civil, political, moral, social and religious institutions has ceased to be, and its memory only shadowed forth in the dim history of the past.

Posted on January 9, 2012 at 3:05pm@Spin…let me see here….that quote came at a time when the Mormon Church was forced to LEAVE the United States that was supposed to be a place where religious freedom was protected. I digress…anyway, they were forced to leave upon pain of death. So why would they not basically say..”Forget you people, we are gonna make our own place out here and you can go on your merry way without us! And you know what? We will be better in the end that you will ever be with all your worldwide influence” Sounds more like a pep talk to the people than some sinister plan to rule the world. READ the freaking quote man…sheesh!

Do you think the leftist statist media will present your excellent analysis as a counterpoint to their distortions?!? Well done. I hope you are right. Keep in mind that one is tame. Some of their other pep talks were a bit more, how should I say, boisterous?!? Thankfully, they dropped the oath of vengeance and the penalties from the endowment. Keep thinking. Speak up! Only an honest dialogue and gentle persuasion will change this world. Welcome to the campfire.

Thanks but I have my own reasons…
I am familiar with original Mormon doctrine, since I used to teach it as a missionary to polygamist in Salt Lake City, UT, including prophecies of its early leaders which include their plans to subvert the United States to establish a “Mormon Caliphate”. See the works of Edward Decker among others on the plans for an LDS theocracy in America or parallels b/w Mormonism and Islam.

Posted on January 9, 2012 at 2:19amChristie could beat Obama but not Romney. Christie knows his playing cards, that if Romney wins the primary, Obama will serve another 4 years and will give him the opportunity to run against Obama in 2016. So Romney‘s loss to Obama will be Christie’s ticket The White House.

Posted on January 10, 2012 at 5:29pmOk Spin, first of all, your link to “expose mitt romney” is just a hit piece on him and Mormonism as a whole, filled with the same, tired old anti-mormon rhetoric that has been hashed over for years. Second of all, Your approach to describing Mormonism and elucidating all on the sneaky underpinnings of that Church smacks of the overzealous diatribe most commonly associated with the Evangelical sub-sect of Protestant Christianity. If you are not a part of their movement, it would surprise me.
Report Post »Either way, it is clear you have a deep well of disdain for the ‘Mormon” approach to Christianity, and feel a need to denigrate said religion. I have never understood why some people who leave a church spend so much time and energy trying to destroy or marginalize what they have left behind. Your “I was a missionary so I know” stance really has no credence here. How does anyone know you really were what you say? And why should anyone take stock in your arguments when they are so clearly anti-Mormon that you have left the side of reason and rational thought and have fallen into the void of conspiracy theory and religious bigotry?
Wait a sec…its all those who believe Mormonism that are the duped ones right? The brainwashed, confused masses…many of whom are respected, highly educated and contributors to their communities. Yeah…right. They are all really just blind and stupid…now THAT is reasonable and logical, isn’t it? \sarcasm off

Posted on January 9, 2012 at 10:35amI know I can’t vote for Santorum or Newt. I don‘t like Romney’s policies (seems like a nice enough fellow), but as coordial as Mitt and Ron Paul were to one another during Friday‘s debate I wouldn’t be supprised if there wasn’t some sort of deal struck between them. It’s almost like Mitt told Paul to take the other two down while he sat above the fray looking presidential in return for something. So how about it, would a Romney/Paul ticket be a decent compromise? It would be a wise choise for Romney to pull in people like me and those who like Paul’s domestic policies, but fear his foreign policies. At least it would keep me from writing Ron Paul in.

Yes. Paul’s smart guy who probably knows the Constitution better than anyone else in DC, and even though he doesn’t stand a chance at the nomination (I do think he’d do pretty well in the general though) because of his foreign policy views (which, while in complete accord the Constitution, are a little idealistic), he would be a great VP—if Romney were smart enough to make him a close adviser, that is.

Stop trying to use government to impose your skewed religious trappings onto everyone else. If I want to consume marijuana or any other drug, that’s my prerogative. The government is not my nanny or parent, and neither are you. I feel nothing from your annoyance.
I blow huge clouds of Kush smoke in your direction. Why don’t ya come up and see me sometime?
I’m tired. I’m tired of being admired.
Why don’t you ask Rush Limpjaw about pharmaceutical heroin (oxypoppers)? Heknows a LOT about THAT…
National Gun Control is NOT off the table…gun grabbers are tenacious and stealthy/subversive.
I just had a democratic Councilman in my city – who happens to have a problem passing out drunk in front of city hall in his vehicle (Zach Reed) come out and ask for more gun control on the news last night. This is after the Ohio Supreme Court nullified city ordinances that’re stricter than state laws, such as bans on handguns. We also have the anniversary of Gabby Gifford’s shooting being exploited by GUN SNATCHERS.
These gun-snatchers are also trying to get legislation passed that will apply mandatory Fed background checks and registration of firearms (without your consent) to Straw Purchases at Gun Shows.
