Rear-Ended Biker Gets Jolted Into the Air, Lands on Feet & Captures it All on Helmet Cam

Ever wondered what it’s like being on a motorcycle and getting rear-ended? Well, this might be as close as you can get without being involved in a real accident.

A helmet video posted on YouTube shows a motorcycle rider come to a smooth stop at a traffic light. Seconds later, tires squeal, and metal crunches, as a woman rams the rider from behind. Amazingly, the man is jolted into the air and lands on his feet:

No information on the accident was posted with the video. The license plate in front of the biker does seem to be from California, however.

Today was not his day to die. That was the only thing that went through my mind. My hubby is a motor cop and I worry about this stuff all the time. Two of the guys were just in a really bad accident, one will have to be retired out.

Madman, that wasnt an SUV, it was a Scion xB, first generation. Considered a wagon, not an SUV.

After my motorcycle accident when a car pulled out dead in front of me, a veteran rider told me “Remember, as soon as you climb on that bike, your’e invisble. Don’t forget it.”
Wish I’d heard that before my accident, not that it would have made any difference.

I’m 57, been riding MCs since I was 14. I always assume “they probably don’t see me, and if they do see me, they don’t care if they kill me” I have hit a railroad tye (at 60MPH) that must have fallen from someones truck onto the busiest freeway in Dallas. I have had a woman change lanes into me (clearly without intending to do so) as she was putting on her mascarra at the time in the lighted rear view mirror of her lovely Mercedes. For the guy that says he can drive while yacking on the phone or texting, or reading the WSJ or eating carry out chinese food at 50MPH in the passing lane (all things I have also experienced/seen), just let me say that yes we should retest driving skills on a regular basis, because driving is a priviledge not a right. Your carelessness behind the wheel directly and violently infringes on my right to life. A motor vehicle (any MV, even a MC) moving at any speed is a lethal missile with massive potential for death and injury. Focus on what is really important in life. LIFE, FAMILY, NEIGHBORS, FAITH peace to all who will live in peace.

I make it a point to give biker’s room and drive always looking for potential problems. If everybody drove a little slower/smarter there would be a lot less accidents. People need to respect that just cuz your in a car doesn’t makes you safe.

Looking at post-accident high to medium speed pictures will scare alot of people straight.

Please, for everyone’s safety, Start enacting “The Blue Hair Laws”. Seriously, we have to start rigorous driver testing for the elderly (starting at 60). I know, it sucks to get old but we all have to do it. I can’t think of anything worse (including the loss of my driver’s license) than living out the rest of my days knowing that I maimed or killed someone because I no longer possess the skills to drive safely.

I got rear-ended by a biker and I drive a Jeep GC. The bikers were on their way to a funeral for a biker-buddy and were blocking a stop-light intersection. I happened to stop quickly when the light turned red and one of the bikers didn’t. They all blamed me, of course, yelling at me, saying that I was trying to kill him. Thank God it didn’t hurt him, but it was his own fault for trying to run the light. The group had no business impeding traffic at an intersection on a divided four lane highway.

I do have to ask. How close were you to the vehicle in front of you?. Yes they shouldn’t have been blocking intersection and tailgating, but you stated you suddenly stopped, maybe you should have been more aware of your surroundings and slowed down at the yellow light and not waited until it was red then “suddenly stopped” Just askin.

A similar thing happened to me although there was no collision. I was approaching the light in a left turn lane and it changed to yellow one car ahead of me. That car sped up to get through it but I didn’t. The A-hole on a bike behind me didn’t like that I refused to run the light and sped around me on the left, cursed me and ran the red light. That kind of jerk is why nurses call motorized two-wheelers “donorcycles”.

He tried his best to miss me, but hit the driver side rear. I thank God that he didn’t get hurt, but it was his fault, ACD.

One hand on the wheel is not in control. If you are using a hands off device, then yes, maybe you can talk and drive. I think drivers should be allowed to talk on the phone, but if they are in an accident they are automatically “at fault” and their insurance must fully replace all damaged vehicles and make full restitution for personal injury – and maybe spend some time in jail. It is no longer an accident if you are not paying attention, it is a predictable outcome of your inattention, but not an accident.

Yeah monster I bet she is. I have ridden motorcycles for a long time and when you are at a stop light both your feet are already on the ground, so “landing” on your feet is a little misleading but that is what news headlines do to attract you to the story. His injuries might include the rear turn signals if they were on stalks hitting the back of his legs as the bike was forced forward out of his grip or his hands from gripping the handle bars and maybe having the wind knocked out of him for the instant rush of adrenaline that affected his breathing/heart rate…

Now if the biker had been splitting lanes like most bikers, he wouldn’t have had to hear that question. You would be surprised how many people do not look to see if traffic is stopping before a known point, such as an intersection. So many accidents are caused by stopped vehicles in random places..
