Red Scare: Mid-East Protests Spread to….China?

BEIJING (AP) — Chinese authorities cracked down on activists as a call circulated for people to gather in more than a dozen cities Sunday for a “Jasmine Revolution.”
The source of the call was not known, but authorities moved to halt its spread online. Searches for the word “jasmine” were blocked Saturday on China’s largest Twitter-like microblog, and the website where the request first appeared said it was hit by an attack.
Activists seemed not to know what to make of the call to protest, even as they passed it on. They said they were unaware of any known group being involved in the request for citizens to gather in 13 cities and shout “We want food, we want work, we want housing, we want fairness.”
Some even wondered whether the call was “performance art” instead of a serious move in the footsteps of recent protests in Egypt, Tunisia, Bahrain, Yemen, Algeria and Libya.
China has limited reporting on the protests in the Middle East and quickly shuts down most protests at home.
Authorities appeared to be treating the protest call seriously. Families and friends reported the detention or harassment of several activists, and some said they had been warned not to participate Sunday.
Police pulled Beijing lawyer Jiang Tianyong into a car and drove away, his wife, Jin Bianling, said. She told The Associated Press by phone she was still waiting for more information Saturday night.
Su Yutong, an activist who now lives in Germany, said that even if Chinese authorities suspect the call to protest wasn’t serious, Saturday’s actions showed they still feared it.
“If they act this way, they’ll push this performance art into the real thing,” she said in an e-mail.
In a Twitter post, Su listed at least 14 people who had been taken away and called that count incomplete.
Tensions were already high in recent days after a video secretly made under house arrest by one of China’s most well-known activist lawyers, Chen Guangcheng, was made public. Chen and his wife reportedly were beaten in response, and some of Chen’s supporters reported being detained or beaten by authorities after meeting to discuss his case.
The call for a “Jasmine Revolution” came as President Hu Jintao gave a speech to top leaders Saturday, asking them to “solve prominent problems which might harm the harmony and stability of the society.”
The ruling Communist Party is dogged by the threat of social unrest over rising food and housing prices and other issues.
In the latest price increase, the National Development and Reform Commission announced Saturday that gasoline and diesel prices would be raised by 350 yuan ($53) per ton.
The call to protest was first posted on the U.S.-based Chinese-language website Boxun.com. “Boxun has no way to verify the background of this and did not participate,” it said.
The Boxun site was unavailable Saturday, and reported being attacked.
“This is the most serious denial of service attack we have received,” it said in a statement. “We believe the attack is related to the Jasmine Revolution proposed on Feb. 20 in China.”

Think about it, will India and Pakistan throw up their hands? No. Do Japan, S. Korea, and N. Korea give up without a fight? Russia and China? Liberty loving Americans? Huh! The idea that any human government can take over all governments and peoples and bring either the imagined economic and social equality of communism OR force the conversion of all peoples to any religion or die is insane, of course,…..HOWEVER THE ATTEMPT won’t last any longer than 7 years. It’s uncanny to watch these events materialize in bits and pieces. If we aren’t near the times described in the books of Daniel, Ezekiel, Isaiah, Joel, Matthew, Revelation….take notes because the end of the age is going to look A LOT like this!

A little hint about preparing for emergencies. At most Walmarts, in the camping section there will be a small selection of Mountain House dehydrated meals. I’ve been picking up a package or two every time I go to the store for groceries. It‘s about the lowest price on this stuff that I’ve found, and while it’s not a gormet meal, they are easy to prepare, and you can stock up a little at a time for those anticipated hard times ahead…Another place to go for inexpensive food stuffs is the Dollar General stores. Much of their canned goods are either the same price or slightly less than Walmart and of good quality. Try it and see what you think…

Do not let the fear dominate you, take control of it, think through the scenario and how you will handle it if it does come to pass; have at least one or two contingent plans to handle the most likely of the what if scenarios. In my case I am fairly certain to get stuck in the city, as I have no rapid means of getting out of here fast, so my plans are adjusted accordingly.

Good advice, I have four months of canned goods and dried goods stored; I live in a small studio so the room I have is limited. Will check out the wal-mart part for those dehydrated meals as well.

The more you think through what you would need in a true, prolonged emergency and then store away what you would need, you will feel some sense of calm because you have taken control of the situation. My “study” bible is the most valuable preparation as it has the blueprint of what is to come and what role I am expected to play. Wishing you and your family the best.

Anyone?

However, I have included bottles of bleach (a few drops to be added to water: not sure about the ratio) and also we have a “backpackable” water pump with extra filters purchased from a sports store which we’ve used to drink water on mountain hiking trips. This way your water source is limitless.

If the spit hits the fan, your guns, food, fuel, etc., can and will be confiscated by the powers that be and redistributed as they see fit. All you people who are of the “from-my-cold-dead-hands” mentality would likely cave like a house of cards if push ever came to shove. Either that or you’d leave your children orphanned. Seriously, I love Beck, and agree with much of what he has to say, but is this the end result of his preaching? Is this what TheBlaze is become? i think we make light of things to avoid being morose on a minute to minute basis. There are enough looney tune folks out here that would love to see destruction come, mainly because they do not understand that if it happens to one of us..it happens to all of us here in America. We also understand that we have leaders that are very questionable.
.Should we be attacked by say..Russia..I am afraid to have a person like Obama at the helm, he will sell us out.
Obama was not our first mistake, we need to pray that we are smart enough to make him the last leader that is ill prepared and has his an agenda besides the love of our country.

Report Post »I am relaxed. I just get annoyed with adults who use childish phraseology. Of course people have the right to be indiviudual. I’m all for that, but when some mental midget uses the phrase “Can you say…?”, he’s forsaken individualism and reverted to a childish catchphrase that went out in the 80s. It’s not just BUCKEYE. I’ve seen it all over this board, and it’s a indication of low mental capacity by the user. He’s in over his head.

The pressure has always existed, and now with the Jasmine Revolution being called for, changes are coming rapidly.
The Jasmine flower in one old tale spoke of the coming of spring, of birth and change to happen; and soon the yellow bird comes to strke down the dragon. So the change will come, one way or another, and it will happen with sudden results.
What remains to be seen is what will emerge from the change, and for good or bad.

We have had peace in one form or another, relatively speaking, for some time, and now the speakers of peace are still giving the same message while the watchmen warn and cry aloud. Swift destruction is coming, and change will be swift and savage, unless we are ready for it.

This is all the result of deficit spending. Higher govt debt leads to governments printing money which leads to devaluation of currency which leads to inflation which leads to pain inflicted on the populous which leads to unrest. What is ironic is that the initial spending was supposed to be for the good of the people. The U.S. is responsible for a large portion of world inflation due to the fact that the dollar is the worlds reserve currency and we are printing dollars like mad, which encourages the rest of the world to print their own currencies so they can maintain their exports. This is what you get when you follow kenysian monetary and fiscal policy.

You cannot expect a big splash in a county’s economy not to have an “ripple effect” on all of the other economies that are linked to it. I am for Free Trade but I believe that we must protect our own economy. We gave away our manufacturing superiority so that we could mesh with the Global Economy. Outsourcing is a result of the Global Economy. Revolution, especially Social Revolution, is not effective if it is limited to a relatively small region…..the Marxists/Communists/Socialists learned this after the fall of the Soviet Union. There has to be a common thread for each of the countries in the world in order to effect “Social Justice” or “Social Change”. The Progressives had hoped that it would be the United Nations but it has failed miserably in that regard. People don’t want a single World Governance based on politics…..it has to be economical in nature for people to become truly fearful, enraged, and willing to submit their liberty to the “Elites” for problem solving. When you are fearful about feeding, clothing, and housing your family and children, the wolves-in-sheeps-clothing will step in and offer a “viable solution” to the world’s problems…..I fear that it may resemble the “Final Solution” of the 1930‘s and 40’s…..we are just seeing the beginning. Like a woman experiencing labor pains, the intensity and frequency will increase until a “New World Order” is birthed……and then the people in power will be in a position to “punish their enemies”, as our Dear Leader so eloquently spoke recently.
