Reid, Angle Stay Tied in Race for US Senate

(AP) — A barrage of attack ads from both sides has done zilch to yield a front-runner in Nevada’s heated Senate race, according to a new poll that shows voters remain evenly split between Democratic Majority Leader Harry Reid and Republican challenger Sharron Angle.

In the first survey to question voters about all the Senate candidates, the poll published Friday by the Las Vegas Review-Journal and KLAS-TV shows Reid and Angle tied with 43 percent support.

Reid and Angle continued to draw support from their bases — 82 percent for Reid from Democrats and 79 percent for Angle from Republicans, the poll shows.

Four percent in the telephone survey of 625 likely voters said they want none of the candidates. Eight percent were undecided.

Despite the deadlock, the poll charts a small victory trail for Angle, who could win if she is able to exploit a strong advantage over Reid among nonpartisan voters.

The poll, conducted this week by Washington, D.C.-based Mason-Dixon Polling & Research, had a sampling error margin of plus or minus 4 percentage points.

The Senate race has been in a virtual dead heat for most of the general election.

In a poll published two weeks ago, Reid was ahead of Angle 46-44, but that was within the margin of error and voters were not asked about other candidates. Undecideds were at 6 percent.

The campaign has played out in a fit of fierce ads since June, when Angle captured the Republican nomination in a surprise finish.

Reid unleashed the first attack and has charged forward with an unrelenting campaign to cast Angle as an extreme conservative who would dismantle Social Security, Medicare and multiple federal agencies.

In turn, Angle has painted Reid as the villain behind the state’s wounded economy and, most recently, as a close ally of illegal immigrants.

Nevada leads the nation in joblessness, foreclosures and bankruptcies.

As usual, both campaigns greeted the poll numbers with an optimistic front.

Angle’s campaign celebrated her growing support among independents.

“That stat may put some perspective on why Harry was so worried about our ad on illegal immigration,” spokesman Jarrod Agen said in a statement. He could not immediately be reached for comment.

Kelly Steele, a Reid campaign spokesman, said the numbers show Angle’s campaign has stalled.

“They have put millions of dollars into these ads and they haven’t been able to move the dial,” he said in a telephone interview.

But, Reid’s numbers remain locked, too.

Tea Party of Nevada candidate Scott Ashjian and the Independent American Party’s Tim Fasano each garnered 1 percent support.

Conservative groups feared Ashjian would depress turnout for Angle and had tried to remove him from the ballot. Angle has been endorsed by the national Tea Party Express.

Voters showed no love for the four nonpartisan candidates named in the survey: Michael Haines, Jesse Holland, Jeffrey Reeves and Wil Stand.

Maybe a boxing match would put Sharron ahead. One KO and the little putz would be down for the count. Go Sharron!

It is obvious that some infiltrating phonies are posting as conservatives and posting doltish and hateful things just to make conservatives look bad. It is an old dishonest trick, don’t fall for it. If any poster is out of line or pretending to be something they are not, report the post. I hope they clean up the spew on both sides so that the sight remains credible.

Aw go vote for that looser John McCain. He thinks like you do. I myself am damn sick of being politically correct to avoid criticism. I’ll go out tell the truth no matter how ticked off you become. Voting may be right in the United States but if you can‘t vote responsibly then it is better for us that you don’t.

For example if don’t know who candidates are and what they stand for, you should not vote.
If you haven’t ever read studied read the declaration and US Constitution do us a favor; Don’t vote.
If you are voting because some sleaze bag is promising you free public benefits by mugging others; Don’t Vote your useless citizen. And by the way; that is precisely why the United States is in the mess we are in today. Too many useless citizens, exercising their right to vote in an orgy of mob rule, with no self-discipline or self-restraint.

Here are few things that might shake your world and anger you.

      Alexander Fraser Tytler 1745-1813
“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover they can vote themselves largeness from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship.”

      Ben Franklin 1706-1790
“Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote.”

“When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic.”

What wise people they were. They were smarter and capable than the idiots exist today. What was their solution to the problem? Property Requirements to Vote.

Stick that in your peace pipe you John McCain wannabe.

Part of the price we pay for having a free society is that equality shines on the ignorant as well as the educated. We can‘t discriminate against a voter just because he or she can’t pass a test. This was the same kind of logic used to justify the Jim Crow laws. The answer is to take back our schools and ensure that people receive true education rather than indoctrination.

No, you are plain wrong. The original US Constitution required that you own property before you had the right to vote. The founding fathers included that provision so that the masses would be restrained from voting themselves the public purse and thus bankrupting the Republic. The Founding Fathers believed that the “Natural Aristocracy” should govern.

Now, I don’t believe our voting rights should be tied to a property test. I also don’t believe a property test is the best way to determine what the “Natural Aristocracy is” I believe a poll test based upon the original meaning of Constitution is a better way.

And don’t give me that bull about Jim Crow. It is a false comparison. Because I advocate a poll test on every American Citizen who wants to vote, work as a civil servant, or hold political office irregardless of race, creed, and color.

I am sorry but if some fool believes that the US Constitution grants them a right to Housing, Food, Health Care, Education and work, then they are to stupid to be allowed to vote. To do otherwise is dangerous and suicidal for the Republic.

It just shows how stupid the American People really are. How can anyone even consider voting for a Liberal Marxist Communist Ass? America you’re are just plain dumb.

What we need are poll tests to determine if you smart and motivated enough to vote or run for office. These poll tests should be administered to everyone intending to vote or run for office and should expire in six -years. It should be based on a pass fail where 90% and above is passing and anything below than 90% is failing. If you fail you can retake it once after a week. If you fail twice, it is a six month waiting period.

These poll tests should be based on the history of this nation at its’ founding, the views of our founders, our founding documents; the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution; and the Federalist Papers and Anti – Federalist Papers.

That should screen out and permanently disfranchise all those that think the purpose of government is to provide them with welfare checks and / or corporate bailouts.

How come he isn’t down by at least fifty points instead of running neck and neck with Angle? And if reid wins how he will continue to take the people’s money, what little weath they have, and spread it around.
Reid win = Big Loss for Nevada…You can bet on that!!!!

I think the progressive communist liberal nazis in this country need to be rounded up like the vermin they are and sent to afghanistan, where they can cuddle up to their taliban buddies. Anyone who insults Sharron Angle doesn’t deserve any protections under the Constitution, i only wish that Jan Brewer’s headless bodies in the arizone desert belonged to them. We were created by God, but these liberal “democrat” marxists that don’t like Sharron Angle are the best argument for evolution i have ever seen. If anything ever crawled out of the primordial ooze, they did!

@Freebornson – I agree with you. There won‘t be a change of mind in this country until there’s a change of heart. This change of heart can only come from God. Praying for our enemies and those who would despitefully use us is not an easy thing to do, but it is what we must do. “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and forgive their sin and I WILL HEAL THEIR LAND.” 2 Chronicles 7:14
