Reid Promises Lame-Duck Senate Vote on Amnesty for Young Illegals

According to the Huffington Post, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., has pledged to hold a vote on the so-called DREAM Act, a bill which would allow some undocumented young people to assume legal status. Previously, Reid and other Senate Democrats had tried to slip the measure into a defense authorization bill along with a repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell. But a Republican filibuster halted the bill, ending the chances the measure would be voted on before the November midterm elections.
Univision’s Jorge Ramos recently interviewed Reid and says the senator promised to hold the vote, “win or lose.” The prospects of the measure’s passage are exciting liberal immigration activists who have been pushing for comprehensive immigration reform from the Democrat-controlled Congress and White House. HuffPo reports:
“The DREAM Act would give a group of young immigrants here without immigration status through no fault of their own the chance to attend college, serve in the military and earn citizenship,” said Frank Sharry, executive director of America’s Voice. “These valedictorians, future scientists and future soldiers are Americans in all but paperwork, and we are thrilled that Senator Reid is committed to moving this common-sense measure before the end of the year.”
“We support and will be looking for viable efforts to pass the DREAM Act after the election,” said Center for American Progress Vice President for Immigration Policy Advocacy Angela Kelley. “In order for that to happen however, like-minded Republicans will have to step forward and show their support for this modest measure to provide relief to young people. There hasn’t been a lot to suggest that bipartisan constructive conversation on immigration is possible, but I’d love to be proven wrong.”
Depending on the outcome of Tuesday’s elections, Reid and a number of other Democratic senators may be on their way out. Reid’s opponent, Republican Sharron Angle, has used Reid’s support for the DREAM Act to drive some voters into her camp. One of her campaign ads characterizes the DREAM Act as giving “preferred college tuition rates” to illegal immigrants.
Regardless of what happens Tuesday, however, it looks like the DREAM Act will be on the Senate’s lame-duck docket.

Posted on October 29, 2010 at 9:52pmDoes Reid think that consequences will not apply to himself? Americans KNOW the democrats will act against the will of the People, regardless if they were voted in or not. The People won’t get mad, they will get even.

Posted on October 29, 2010 at 9:42pmBelow is an excerpt of a Sept. 15 article by Investor’s Business Daily:
The act is outright amnesty for the children of illegal immigrants, and offers a no-penalty path to citizenship for anyone connected with them.
It says that any child of an illegal, who arrives in the U.S. before age 16, spends five years here and completes two years of college or military service in a six-year span without felonies gets a green card ahead of others who have waited patiently for their papers.
They will have access to taxpayer-funded loans and grants, and may crowd out children of U.S. citizens at state and community colleges. They are not required to pay back the loans, learn English or maintain a decent GPA. They can start the process up to age 35, and get six years to finish a mere two years of college or military service.
And once they’ve been granted citizenship, they can bring all their relatives to the U.S. in what will be the mother of chain migrations.
Even worse, there’s no cutoff date on when an illegal immigrant can begin the process, so the bill becomes a dinner triangle to would-be immigrants everywhere to ship their teenagers to the states before they turn 16. Mexican cartels that smuggle illegals for $10,000 a pop must be slavering at the possible new business.
Thanks to an effective propaganda campaign based on sob stories from immigrant lobbies, most of these facts about the DREAM Act aren’t well-known. But make no mistake: The legislation as written amounts to amnesty for almost everyone.”
This may be why, despite the measure being around the Senate for seven years, it has never garnered enough votes for passage. It has come close, but public opposition has stopped it when the facts are made known.

Posted on October 29, 2010 at 9:28pmI’m hoping there is a big enough landslide next Tuesday that they will loose a lot of support during the lame duck session from career democrats who will be running in 2012. Most politicians are more interested in keeping their cushy job then promoting an ideal. (Not Obama! He is hardcore Marxist progressive to the bone.) Hopefully the moderate democrats will try to reclaim their party but probably too late. Just to show I’m not totally optimistic, I have ordered a copy of the Chinese version of Rosetta stone before they run out.

Posted on October 29, 2010 at 9:19pmSometimes, I’m not always right but in this case, I will make an exception. I’ll meetyou half way…MY half! The congressional dudes all swear an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the U.S. from all enemies, foreign and domestic. Those many dudes (on both sides of the aisle and IN the aisle) need to be rounded up and charged with Treason for their betrayal! Those provisions were instituted for the very reason of facility to have an orderly, lawfull process by which to remove a repressive leadership, thus avoiding the court of last resort, all else failing!!! The President dude cannot be so charged because his oaths are meaningless since he has no obligation. He cannot provide a verifieable U.S. birth certificate. His first act after fitting his unqualified buns into the chair of the oval office was to SEAL ALL RECORDS PERTAINING TO HIS LIFE. (Look up his first executive order.) Why would he do that? School records require a birth certificate to verify ‘an age’ level qualifying a child to be admitted which document also would show “WHERE” the child was born! ALL OF HIS SIGNINGS ARE MOOT AND THE LEGISLATION AND EXECUTIVE ORDERS ARE LIKE SO MUCH LEFT-HANDED DOODLING, PEOPLE! Wow! What if this ever ‘gets out”! Can I prove it? No. I don’t have to….HE does! If it ain’t so, why can’t he take a few minutes on the campaign trail and hop over to Hawaii to dig around in the “issue” file of ‘that hospital’!
Now, five gets you ten my comments get ‘screened’ out.

Do you think that exasperating the mess you and your leftist thugs have put our country into will earn you brownie points?

Why? because we are TRUE Americans and you will never be. Americans forgive and get on with it. The getting on with it we have to do now is to repeal every single “socialist” law on our national and states books, yes that includes SSI and the FED.
We reject ALL your “handouts” now, you went to far and now because of YOUR actions Harry Reid All these socialist agenda laws are going to go away, forever. Yea that means I have my parents live with me, and I pay dfor their meds and medical care, It means I step UP and do what is right, and YES I CAN.

Posted on October 29, 2010 at 8:58pmAs many of us are warning and expecting they will launch one final offensive to take the nation down or pass whatever they wish just before losing all control of the House and/or Senate. If a legal imigrant in the process of working to naturalization joins the armed forces and serves, then I would have no problem with them becoming citizens earlier (if they qualify after the tour of duty) for being willing to put their lives on the line for our land and their new homes.
