Whether NPR is left leaning, right leaning, or strictly impartial is totally irrelevant. The government has no business underwriting any media company. They need to compete, like all media companies are required to compete. If NPR has a superior product, they will be profitable. If not, they will cease to exist.

Yeah I agree with you and the argument they use is that the rural parts of the country will loose access to news and programing if NPR looses Gov’t funding. From what I have seen in my part of the Rural America living in a city with less than 100K population public broadcasting on TV or Radio is not what Farmers in the Agricultural community listen to.

I mean they are more worried about how the weather affects their lively hood rather than the difference between different types of wines. But I will say that there is an increase of rich city folks trying to make a living growing their own grapes to be the next millionaire wine maker. And that could be the rural listener that NPR execs are trying to capture in this debate.

But living in rural america I rarely try to tune into the NPR FM stations to listen to classical music or easy Rock-n-Roll of the sixties or to the reading of books on the radio. They surely don’t need someone to tell them how to diagnose and fix their car on the radio.

Maybe Georgy Schwartz/George Soros could donate a few billion to PBS to fund public axxis communications, he is sure willing to put that money into front groups like MoveOn.org that push his agenda.

      NPR Board members quote
“we unwittingly cultivated a core audience that is predominately white, liberal, highly educated, elite.” Note the White part.
I missed the part about the core audience of rural farmers and ranchers the poor and disadvantaged, minorities, as a target.

Tax payer dollars means half is coming from conservatives half from liberals. so why is it 100% liberal views on our publicly funded radio and pbs service? Where is the GB OR RL on PBS or NPR? NOWHERE. So until it is an evenly distributed or shall we say “fairness doctrine” station no other station should even be considered to have to be. Not that they should be forced there anyways.

NPR has always been the radio broadcast for the so called intellectual liberals, any wonder why democrats support thier messages ? They will pay to support anything that benefits them. Anytime i hear an NPR broadcast, i feel like grabbing a glass of pinot noir, and looking down my nose… Aha ! The president must listen to them, he has that gesture on his face quite a bit.

We need help from his generation if we are to get our country back. Unfortunately my generation was so busy working, going to worship services, organizing Scouts, being the taxi for the good life we thought our kids should have that we took our eye off the ball. And raised some really selfish kids while we were at it. Time for a reset!

This lady says thet the big issue with conservatives is funding public broadcasting in general…uh…NO, the issue is that NPR is liberal and there is NO way anyone can seriously dispute that. I would be fine with PUBLIC funding if they were either absolutely NON political or balanced. Since they are a public service, they have an obligation to be non-political and they have been ignoring that obligation, we have put up with it for years and now we are sick of it.

During these times of budgetary concerns, if NPR and PBS is so good, let them survive alone on advertising dollars and private donations.

      Dear Eaglesnest:

I respectfully disagree. I find no where in the constitution authorization for the US Government to prop up either the arts, children’s programming, or a press organization. As a conservative, I would object to this funding even if the organization was fair and balanced… or even biased toward conservatives. I believe that traditional arts (orchestras not “Piss Christ”) and children‘s programming aimed at development not propaganda deserve SOCIETY’s support. The federal government should keep out.

I am all for truth and fairness in the press… but where in the constitution is it mandated that they be the people’s watchdog and not in the pocket of the democrats? I am not a strong historian, but I do believe the press in the day of the founding father’s was far more biased than what we have today. From what I have read, the constitution frees the press to be as biased as they want to be. I agree that it is wrong… but the constitution guarantees freedom of the press… not a fair and balanced press.

OK OK, let’s not get too excited about this “endorsement”. The only reason they are reporting this story and giving credit to GB and the Blaze is because they reported on the unedited content and how some things were presented without the appropriate context. So it places them in a more favorable light. That is why they are “selectively” endorsing the Blaze on this issue. Just let it be an area that doesn’t fit their agenda and they will get right back to their castigation of GB and the Blaze. Mark my words.

I have to admit the Blaze did an awesome job on this one (I didn’t read it at the time). But I‘m surprised by now that people will believe any edited video make by O’Keefe, Breitbart or any of those people. Breitbart is being sued for defamation for taking video of Shirley Sherrod and editing it in such a way to make it appear she was saying the exact opposite of what she was actually saying. Several DAs laughingly dismissed charges against ACORN employees once they saw the unedited tape (O’Keefe nor his assistant were wearing the pimp or prostitute clothes for example). I could go on.

These guys have a cynical and unethical strategy: secretly tape members of an organization, edit the video in such a way to make the person look as bad as possible, and put the video out on the internet. By the time the truth comes out, the damage is done. For once, the Blaze didn’t go along.

And congratulation to anyone who watched the video from CNN. If it had been FOX, you’d have had Megan Kelley or whomever not interviewing, but debating with and talking over the guests, trying to make them look as bad as possible. The CNN piece is more what real journalism looks like.

      Congratulations Blaze on this one.

The Blaze published a reliable report.

      Now that’s news!

If what O’Keefe did was unethical, then why isn’t this clown boycotting every major primetime news show on television? If using a false premise while engaging in investigative journalism is “unethical”, then how the hell does this clown propose that anyone ever bust up a corruption ring, let alone the mafia, or even pigford?

@OBL: Don’t hold your breath on Madcow or Sgt. Schultz’s “awakening.” They’re both in an irreversable funk!

This shouldn’t surprise people. The MSM is objective, so they cannot always find Beck wrong. Only biased propaganda organizations like Fox always find the other side wrong. This is more a credit to CNN than to the Blaze.

Instead of admitting that NPR is being biased and unethical they still just make excuses- she actually said.‘You don’t express your views to someone you don‘t know at a business meeting’. Duh. This reeks of hidden agendas to me. Why don’t they all just adopt the TELL THE TRUTH, QUESTION WITH BOLDNESS policy. Just what are they hiding? Now we know.

Right! That was hardly a gleaming endorsement of The Blaze. It does tell as that CNN thinks they are “the middle”
