(The Blaze/AP) — Lawrence Tynes booted the Giants into the Super Bowl again.
Tynes kicked a winning 31-yard field goal in sudden-death overtime and New York beat the San Francisco 49ers 20-17 in the NFC championship game Sunday night to reach its second Super Bowl in five seasons. Tynes also kicked the game-winning field goal in overtime at Green Bay in the 2008 NFC title game that put the Giants in the Super Bowl.
Devin Thomas put the Giants in position. He recovered his second fumble of the game after Jacquian Williams stripped the ball from fill-in return man Kyle Williams.
Eli Manning and the Giants (12-7) will face the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl on Feb. 5 in Indianapolis. They beat the previously undefeated Patriots in the 2008 Super Bowl in the Arizona desert.
Brady and Belichick. Eli and Coughlin. Both teams rolling through the playoffs.
Yep, here we go again.
New England opens as a 3-point favorite for the game.
It’s familiar territory for Tom Brady and the Patriots (15-3), who are playing in the Super Bowl for the fifth time in 11 years. New England is in the big game for the seventh time overall, second only to the eight trips by Pittsburgh and Dallas.

Posted on January 23, 2012 at 11:41amEli Manning a class act against the whiner and crybaby Tom Brady. Maybe the refs will actually call some holds on the dirty Patriots and their unabomber coach. I am sure he can afford more then a hoodie!

Posted on January 23, 2012 at 3:21amGlad SF didn‘t win because they weren’t ready… I would much rather see Giants or Patriots get another hash mark in there Superbowl loss column… SF can stay 5 and 0 a little longer and not get the dreaded hash mark in the looser column… LOL ! I wonder who it will Be ? You see, every team has loosing seasons but you can never take a Superbowl loss away… It stays with you indefinitely ! Maybe now that i have explained the concept of what really matters in football , You may get it now… What are the Patriots and Giants Superbowl records again…?

Posted on January 23, 2012 at 12:03pmwell…you can think about it…maybe google it…while the rest of us are watching the giants vs. patriots in the SUPERBOWL. really, no need to be pissy about a well played game by both teams. notice how the ravens-patriots game was a fight-a-minute…classless. the giants-niners game was just good sport.

Posted on January 23, 2012 at 12:42pmYeah right they weren’t ready. Ted Ginn would have been back in two weeks, the receiving corps would have been healthy and the defense would have come down on Tom Brady.
But the big issue isn’t that the Giants beat th 49ers, they didn’t beat the 49ers, a certain 49er gave up the the game with TWO botched kick returns at critical times.
Yes the offense was not moving the way they did against the Saints, but they had the Giants until the loansome Kyle Williams blew it, bad, twice.
I’m not crying, it was a good season and next season will be another great run. But I‘m sick of hearing how this game was all about Manning when if it wasn’t for Kyle Williams completely screwing up, all the talk would have been about how the Niners defense was all over him all game.
Thank Kyle Williams instead of prasing Manning is my point.
As for the Super Bowl… I’m torn because I really hate New England… but I may be okay with them for this occasion…

Posted on January 23, 2012 at 12:00amTom Brady is in the process of exorcizing all of his past demons. Two of the three teams that have robbed the Pats of another championship, in the past 4 years (Ravens, Jets, Giants) have been soundly defeated. Don‘t think for a second the Pats don’t have a chip on their shoulder because of the Giants robbing them of a perfect season. I thought it was going to be the Patriots and the 49rs, but victory will just be that much sweeter, over the Giants.

Posted on January 23, 2012 at 12:35amIf I were Harbaugh, I would be telling showboat Kyle Willaims bye bye….his lackluster ball handling when he fumbled in OT and bad judjment getting close to the bouncing punt that deflected off of his knee resulted in ten points by NY, by the way it played out, his dumb mistakes cost the Niners the game.
