Reminder: Women Are Not Allowed to Vote in Saudi Elections
Bloomberg:

Activists among Saudi Arabia’s women, who can’t drive or vote and need male approval to work and travel, are turning to the type of online organizing that helped topple Egypt’s Hosni Mubarak to force change in a system that they say treats them like children.

The ‘Baladi’ or ‘My Country’ campaign is focused on this year’s municipal elections, only the second nationwide ballot that the absolute monarchy has allowed. The election board said Monday that women would be excluded from the September 22 vote.

Another group, the Saudi Women’s Revolution, citing inspiration from the Arab activism that grew into revolts against Mubarak and Tunisia’s Zine el-Abidine Ben Ali, is pressing for equal treatment and urging international support.

      Paul was speaking to the people of his time when women had no rights. Jesus spoke to women and treated them as equals. Keeping women barefoot, pregnant and in the kitchen does not make for a peaceful nation. In the Muslim countries, women have no rights, and the men are the most violent on the planet.

    Wow, I can[’t believe the woman-bashing on this forum. Blaze readers are usually much more open-minded. For all you hateful men out there who resent that your wives and daughters can vote beside you, it’s because of suffrage that we have such conservative darlings as Palin and Bachmann. Women didn’t cause Obama to be elected. It was his ability to mobilize blocs of people who had never voted in large numbers before (the young, project dwellers, etc.). A large number of women (myself included) think for themselves and vote for freedom-oriented, Constitution-respecting candidates. I’ll give up my voter registration card when you take it from my cold, dead hand.

When they were allowed to vote they immediately voted for ‘charity and compassion’ giveways and it snowballed into what we have to today. A massive, bloated dependency that has expanded exponentially since it’s unholy conception. You can’t swing a dead cat around without hitting at least 3 people on the dole these days.     It baffles me why any Muslim woman would accept this subjugation by their Muslim fathers or husbands. That would mean, being born a female is a very bad thing. The thing is, the human race would end if there weren’t any females. How does it work, that when a mother gives birth to a son, that the son, ends up with more rights than the woman who gave birth to him?

    How can fathers that have daughters, believe that their daughters aren’t deserving of basic human rights? All I can say is – that Islam is one really disgusting religion. I’d rather be in the Klan, than be Muslim.

    I was in Saudi Arabia for six and a half months for desert Shield and Desert Storm. Woman are only alowed to be teachers or nurses and they won’t let them drive.Bin Laden did not like us infidels desecrating that big sand box back then.They all got to see that women in the Armed forces not only can drive, they can fly C-5′s and choppers too.

      Who cares about giving right to the mothers of Christian and Jew hating terrorists. Anyone of those woman would teach their kids growing up that Americans are devils and they (their children) should kill them.       And Saudi Arabia has been around longer than that damned Israel.
      So what you really mean to say is that it took America around 150 years to allow women to vote and since Saudi Arabia has only 79 years….THEY are backwards????

      Jarski: good point. They give a pass to radical muslims, but fail to acknowledge that the women in these countries are treated with less respect than a worm. But lets not confuse the facts.
