Renowned Financial Writer: Markets Preparing for War Between Iran & Israel

Richard Russell, the famous writer of the Dow Theory Letters, believes that something big is building in the markets.
What singular, momentous occasion does he think will set off a market frenzy? A nuclear stand-off between Iran and Israel.
In his Friday note, he said [emphases added]:
“I’ve been sensing something BIG and ominous is in the offing. What could it be? Ah, a front page article in Sunday’s NY Times supplies the answer. Israel will attack Iran with nuclear bombs. Israel must attack this year for this is the year when Iran will have nuclear capabilities.
Actually, the stock market is acting as though something momentous and frightening is ‘out there.’ The roof of a monster top is building. Gold keeps creeping higher.
If Israel attacks the Mid-East will go up in flames.
Suggestion — dollars and gold. If the dollar collapses, gold will make up for the losses by sky-rocketing.
The next target for gold — to trade into the 1800s, and it’s getting close.
The Dow is fluctuating around the 12700 area, not surging above it or falling decisively below it.
If you listen carefully, you can hear the heart-beat of the market. It’s a slow, heavy beat, as if the market is waiting for something. That something is going to be BIG. Bigger than what anyone is expecting.
2012 is fated to be a monster year. Keep your eyes on the dollar and gold, and the newspaper headlines!”
“It might sound farfetched, but the tension between the two countries is building with every day. As the LA Times noted just yesterday, there’s no telling where this is all headed,” writes Cullen Roche of Pragmatic Capitalism.
“The ripple effect would be staggering if tensions flare up into something bigger. The asset class most affected would certainly be oil prices as the Middle East would become a war zone again.”
However, while surging oil prices could be viewed as “bullish” for equity market, it would most likely be a repeat of last year when exponential increases in oil prices did little more than cause recession fears.
“I think it’s irrational to make big bets on outlier events like this, but if the headlines deteriorate it would be wise to understand the market impact before the market begins to price everything in,” Roche writes. “And yes, while gold would certainly benefit, oil prices would be the primary beneficiary…”

I have this feeling that there may be a number of nukes out there and strangely the wepon’s could come from one of the other states in the area or maybe just maybe that well known country that was suposed to be hideing WMD and nukes are in that cattagory.And for a little money locations could be had.Of corse the US went over the country of Irac looking for thoughs verey wepon’s and report none found. But that is even if far fetched an opption.A sale from another state like Pakistan or any of the other nukliar nieghborers would be an action witch would be “SUISCIDE” and would deffenetly be seen as an act of “WAR”!!!!!!! Then with alot of moveing and manuvering everyone will see the true bielefs and who are our freind’s we will probably find not many. And Isreal being right in the center and in the first throughs would be “EVISSRATED”!!!!!!!! And when we wake up the next day we will find the world is no longer as safe as wHen we went to sleep,a thing that will be hard to come by. God if this must happen then “PLEASE LET IT BE SWIFT AND PAINLESS”. God please do not let our chidren suffer the ill’s brought about through our stupidedly and selfishness we would rather hurt than help because it takes less effort to hurt someone than to show compation and help the best that you can. In his most recent financial disclosure, which covers the year 2010, Paul had $1.6 million to $3.5 million in gold- mining stocks. He also has a stake in three bear-market funds–and has for many years.
In all, Ron Paul’s portfolio amounts to a super bearish bet against the U.S. economy. If the country had defaulted on its debt earlier this month, he likely would have made a bundle. The congressman voted against House Speaker John Boehner‘s plan to lift the nation’s $14.3 trillion spending cAP.
When a politician has a financial stake in one of his pet causes, it always seems a bit fishy on its face. But what are we to expect? If Paul is right about the global economy and is pushing for Israel to take care of Iran, Ayn Rand would probably say he deserves to get rich.

Ron Paul will not get the nomination, I am sure of it. But he is the only one that supports freedom. The rest are power hungry dictators in waiting and are just as bad as Obama. Anybody who thinks it is a good idea to attack another country when our own is in such a state of disrepair is a fool. Over extended is an understatement. The smart warrior knows when to conserve and rebuild. Our military has been going non-stop since the early 90′s. Our equipment is practically scrap. Here is the analogy…Ron Paul is in a helocopter surveying his surroundings (because he understands economics and government) and he sees a train going down the tracks. However, from his helocopter he sees another train far off coming from the other direction! The trains don’t know yet, but they are going to collide. He radios down to the trains but they dont listen. A minute later, they see each other but it is too late to slow down – and they collide….
Would you say ron paul made the trains collide? Or would you say he saw that it was going to happen?

It is customary for Khamenei to utter obits, but not a word, nuthing, just the notices in an official newspaper about their “exits”, and strokes and heart attacks.
Maybe these 4 did not like the direction Iran is taking? Not all Iranians, even in the upper ranks, are complete nutjobs.

Posted on February 6, 2012 at 5:45pmBoMustGo, I wouldn’t bet on an attack on Israel as the first thing. Being fanatical religious nutjobs, the Iranian leadership still thinks tactically. Some IRG top secret docs were leaked in the past several years and they present several scenarios.
Most of them are based on a misdirection. The main goal is to start a world war, to wake up Mahdi. Israel is secondary to that goal. One scenario entertained attacking US and Russia at the same time (and a payload in a satellite clothing may just be the way to do it), hoping that it would spark a nuclear exchange between them, Then Israel would be without any protection and an easy target. Israel is presumed to launch after an attack, but there would be still enough Iranians left to carry the black flag of Islam.
But it may be that Khamenei just hates Jews so much that Israel is being put on the top of the list. The Saudi’s will either join in or pour huge sums of cash into the fight. The Iraqi’s and Afgan people will jump on the wagon and kick us out of there. The entire region will be under control of radical Islam and there’s not a damned thing we can do about it. Drill here drill now and leave those people alone please.

I agree. Israel sticking up for itself will show many people that Obama is weak because he failed to stop Israel from defending itself. Obama’s hands are tied right now. I really think by having Panetta divulge that Israel might attack in the next few months was a ham-fisted attempt to undermine Israel’s future success. It isn’t working. As a matter of fact, I think it will only serve to speed things up.
This is heating up very quickly, and I expect Obama to execute some sort of diversionary tactic to take the world’s attention off of himself.
