There he studied Political Theory and Military history. As for the wording of his Spartan history, well you do know the movie is based on history ? So what you “geniuses” learned from 300 is actually the truth. Not the other way around. West is still the best choice in my eyes, and I would love to see Christie run as VP or any combo of the two gentlemen. That would be the best pair to fix the nation. West/Christie 2012 !!!!! I agree with you on the patriot act provisions vote by West, Bachman, and Noem. That’s one nasty law and it needs to go away! I can’t find any statement from Allen West in regards to why he voted to pass it either, again a problem. The fact that the Three: West, Bachman, AND Noem’s all voted for it gives me pause, because they are all very well respected and vocal conservatives, I feel I need more information.
Like him or not, as far as who’s out there in conservative land, he’s by far better than Trump, Pawlenty, Huckabee, and Romney combined.

I have found two references to West’s reasons and they both say the same thing. I will post his reasons below. He may even be sincere, but I believe he is sincerely wrong. Smaller FEDERAL government, less power; that‘s my view and it’s not negotiable for me.

Also, to all those who wrongly make “300” references or Spartans being homosexual. Heroditus is the Greek writer who recorded the history of the war vs. Persia and the Peloponesian War. Like all historians back then, much of it was dramatized. But many of the phrases and terms used in 300 were taken from Heroditus’ writings – “Persians, come and get them!“ ”We brought more soldiers (when adressing the other Greeks present)” etc.
The homosexual references about the Spartans come from the Athenians – the Spartans chief rival; Spartans made the same references to the Athenians. In the end, the Athenians persevered; and therefore, their version of history went forward.
Finally, Congressman West would have learned the Spartans battle vs. the Persians because of its tactics involving a vastly outnumbered foe, and it is the first “morale victory” in recorded history. This battle inspired the Athenians and Greeks to defeat the Persians several years later at Pratoria.
Sorry, I took a Greek history class in college; just felt I needed to set the record straight.

I have to agree we have neutered men in many ways.. however.. I do think that some of it had to do with the fact that many men were abusing the female counter parts.. leaving women alone to PROVIDE and RAISE the kids alone without any support either physical or financial..this led women to turn to the government for help..trying to play BOTH rolls as father AND mother women were no longer sure WHAT their roll was..and the government made it EASIER for many to continue to have kids without having to find someone who would allow them to be a Spartan mother..Maybe we can change that by NOT allowing women to feel they have to do it all.. and making men take responsibility for their actions.. by taking away some of the safety net these women are using.. they would either marry the fathers or quit having kids.. Than maybe we can get some SPARTAN MALES..

The book 300 and thus the movie is based on several writings about the war. Lt Col West is very well read and has probably completed most if not all of the suggested readings on the Chief of Staff of the US Army’s professional reading list. The CSA has had “The Peloponnesian War” on its professional reading list for years. It is a study on how warriors are created as well as their tactics. This man is a professional and doesn’t have to rely on Hollywood to get his sound bites.

In context, he is speaking to a group of women and trying to inspire them to play their part in raising strong men of character and reverse the deliberate feminization of the male half of our society. We need to be raising men of character which requires a little tough discipline at times. He is saying our mothers play a key role in raising men of character as well as fathers. He credits his strong mother for his character.
@PUBLIUSPENCILMAN: No we don’t want to be Sparta in the true sense of the word. It is an example of fortitude and strength though. We can take their example of strong character and no fear of fighting for what we believe in and apply it metaphorically. There are obviously parts of their society we would not want. The thing that many of you are not understanding is that to win the Presidency the first time out for a GOP candidate,( what I am about to say does not apply to a Democrat), takes a tremendous organization which nobody other than Mitt Romney has, it takes tremendous resources, Mitt and Trump have and it takes name recognition and the experience of already running a presidential campaign, as there is very little room for errors. Never in the history of the GOP has a candidate won the Presidency without those all in place. If they wasn’t the standing VP or the Presidents son or an International renowned General of all of NATO forces like Dwight D. Eisenhower they had to run a 2nd time to win like Ronald Reagan. Only Democrats have the luxury of bringing an unknown dark horse in the race and winning. Why is that? Because the liberal media will make sure that all of their publicity is not only positive but way beyond positive. That is why the last three Democratic Presidents could be unknown. Everyone thinks just because Barack Obama could become President when he was totally unknown that anyone can. If you believe that you are missing the entire point.. That is why I feel it is so important to get behind Mitt Romney and then petition him to pick someone like Allen West as his VP. We only get one chance here and history has not been kind to the GOP and we need to be building that candidate way up so that he can overcome what got Clinton elected if a third partier like Trump steals the votes. I cannot stress this point enough, I like Allen West even more than Mitt Romney in a lot of ways but he like so many others would be starting from scratch Mitt isn‘t and Huckabee ran on a shoe stream budget and didn’t have enough resources to put a solid organization in place so he is wasting everyones time and doing a real disservice for even thinking about running. Just my humble opinion and I more than respect all of yours but I would feel very remiss if I didn’t continue to sound the alarm like I will continue the entire election cycle so when it is all said and done and if Obama gets reelected I will be able to say I did all I possibly could to stop it.

He needs to be in the spotlight among all the other presidential hopefuls. By the way, if we had officers in the military not hamstruck my modern rules of war we would have won these wars a long time ago, or at least have saved alot more American lives. I don’t understand the need for lawyers onboard ships and on the ground. This is war, damnit!!!! Mr. West has my vote.

I can understand why everyone is creaming their shorts over him now, but he is not a viable candidate in the long run.

Report Post »It appears that FL22 is already having some “buyer’s remorse” after electing him over Klein. They want someone who doesn’t just tow the party line, but who actually represents THEM. (AGAINST the Ryan onslaught.)
