Rep. Carson‘s Camp Doubles Down After Blaze Exposes ’Hanging on a Tree’ Tirade

Democratic Rep. Andre Carsons Camp Defends Tea Party Race Remarks

Indiana Democratic Rep. Andre Carson

The shocking rhetoric that continues to dominate America‘s political landscape doesn’t seem to be subsiding.

At a Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) event in Miami, some inflammatory words were used to describe the Tea Party’s stance on African Americans. And now, even after these words were exposed by The Blaze, it seems the congressman behind them is standing by his remarks.

At the event, Indiana Democratic Rep. Andre Carson unleashed verbal fury when he claimed that Tea Party adherents on Capitol Hill want to see African Americans hanging from trees (he even invoked Jim Crow to compare current Tea Party actions to the horrific racism that once tarred the nation’s human rights record). His exact quote is as follows:

“[Tea Partiers would] love to see us as second-class citizens…some of them in Congress right now of this tea party movement would love to see you and me…hanging on a tree.”

The Blaze published audio from the event, which you can listen to below:

Aside from the powerful accusations contained within these statements, they are particularly eyebrow-raising because they come from a prominent CBC leader. Interestingly, Carson’s spokesperson, Jason Tomcsi, has confirmed these comments and seems to be standing by them. USA TODAY has more:

His “comments respond to the frustration voiced by those in Miami,” Tomcsi said. “People are frustrated by the inability of Congress to do something about the economy and get people back to work.”

Tomcsi said Carson believes “Tea Party members in Congress know when they vote against programs, they know who they’re impacting. They have different priorities — their priorities are to protect millionaires, oil companies and tax cuts for the wealthy. Those people aren’t impacted by programs like child nutrition, Head Start, job training and job creation.”

As a result of the audio that was released by The Blaze, GOP Rep. Allen West says he may be resigning from the CBC. With the Carson camp standing by the congressman’s comments, it will be interesting to see how others react to his anti-Tea Party tirade.

That may be enough. What’s Congress going to do about this? Think of how it may look in a foreign newspaper. Foreign populations will BELIEVE it once it’s written in their own language.

This man is just oozing hatred, and he’s being paid public money to do so. What IS Congress going to do about this? I can‘t believe he’s not breaking any of the rules pertaining to his emloyment.

How is that Jesse, Al, Maxineand this Carson guy don’t raise money, and go back and find out who the sellers were? I don’t see bout loads of Africans going back to visit teir homelands. Maybe it’s because of all the hard work that the tea partiers do to pay for welfare and food stamps, keeps the majority of them happy. So, Carson, stop looking the tea party in the mouth and appreciate what you have.

      @Liberals

Could liberals update me on the tea party? After listening to Harry Reid, I was under the impression the tea party was rapidly declining and irrelevant. Carson and other liberals are now telling us the tea party is the biggest threat to African Americans since lynching and Jim Crow. I know the party Reid refers to is not capable of being a threat to anyone so is there actually two different tea parties? I am curious because my friend at work, who is an African American tea party member, seemed confused when I informed him that he wanted to see Blacks “Hanging on a tree.” But this would all make since if there were two fractions of the tea party.

However, I am glad Rep. Carson agreed to back up his claims with proof and examples and is not just partaking in political cheap shots.

You have to look at the younger generation to see this. I have a black neighbor who is 65 and we get along fantastically. He prayed for me when I was going through chemo, stopped by to see how I was doing, loves my son to pieces. I‘ve told my son if something happens sometime when I’m gone (I only leave him alone for 1-2 hours max, because more than that and I think he’d get in trouble – he‘s high functioning but I don’t want to take the chance), to go to his house. Of course, it would have to be pretty bad, because he managed to unstop a toilet by himself, turing off the water before it could overflow. Smarter than I give him credit. It’s the younger generation that swallows this crap hook line and sinker.

Isn’t this the same idiot that claimed Tea Party people were shouting the N word at him, despite any evidence, as they did their ‘in-your-face’ victory lap (clearly trolling for insults) after passing Obamacare? Why, yes….yes, it is. This guy is a race baiting troll. I’m all for free speech, but I believe it should be accompanied by a required responsibility. That is, if you accuse someone of racism, you’d better be able to prove it or suffer a punishment for libel/slander/false accusation. Sadly, the complicit media eats this stuff up and wants it to be true so badly that it will not challenge these inane statements. What Carson is essentially saying is that those sweet old neighbors of yours who love their country and those folks across the street who don’t want to saddle their children and grandchildren with insurmountable debt are really the most horrible of people. But the saddest thing of all is that the more these racist political hacks accuse people of racism, the more they’re going to get their wish. Just as any parent with a kid knows, if you tell your kid he‘s a rotten ne’er-do-well no matter what he does, he will likely just go ahead and be one since nothing he can do will prove he isn’t, so these idiots are pushing people into despising them.

Quit crying because the first “black man” (yeah right, my right arm is blacker than Obama) to become president is just an absolute failure (as a president and as a person). CBC, you have plenty of great black men (who can lead) that you could support. Like Allen West, or Harold Ford.. Article quote: ” Tomcsi said Carson believes “Tea Party members in Congress know when they vote against programs, they know who they’re impacting. They have different priorities — their priorities are to protect millionaires, oil companies and tax cuts for the wealthy. Those people aren’t impacted by programs like child nutrition, Head Start, job training and job creation.“ ”

So, he is admitting that certain minorities are disproportionate in their use/abuse of the welfare system. Why is the solution for the poor always to use the government to steal from others? Walter Williams asks, “What is the moral argument in favor of taking something that belongs to me and giving it to someone else?” I am reminded of Veruca Salt singing, “Dont care how, I want it now!”

The solution is simple. The constitution needs to be amended so that noone can vote if their household consitutes a net recipient of tax monies. This is the only way that a vote can be held to decide wether to help them or not without resulting in theft by vote. It is the only way to say that society as a whole is voluntarily contributing to them.

Stop the coercion. At some point we will go on strike.

It’s just the same old chant over and over and over and over from the media, the leftist politicians, the marxist organizations: Tea Partiers are racists, racists, racists. You hear it everywhere except from one place. No racism coming from the tea party members, or meetings, or protests.
The media and marxists all have the same motto: “Our agenda has no truth!”

Rush Limbaugh made several points: Carson is the second Muslim in Congress, after Ellison. Democrats formed the KKK and were the ones lynching Blacks. A caller challenged this saying Republican Baptists are bigoted now, to which Rush countered that the only Baptist racist was Jimmy Carter. Further he noted that Christians ended slavery in the UK and America. Andre Carson doesn’t know history if he thinks Republicans lynched Blacks. Other examples are at http://www.RushLimbaugh.com
