Rep. Cantor: Stop ‘Radical Islam’ in Egypt

WASHINGTON (AP) — A top House Republican said Tuesday the primary goal of U.S. policy in Egypt should be to “stop the spread of radical Islam,” an objective that has been little mentioned by Obama administration officials in recent weeks.
Majority Leader Eric Cantor, R-Va., also said at a news conference he hopes the street protests taking place in Cairo and elsewhere will lead to a democratic society that “stands for human rights, progress and equal opportunity.”
In his remarks, Cantor did not criticize President Barack Obama over his handling of the two-week crisis.
GOP leaders have privately urged members of the rank and file not to second-guess Obama’s approach to the crisis, in which hundreds of thousands of Egyptians have staged demonstrations demanding that President Hosni Mubarak surrender power.
Asked about criticism leveled recently by another Republican lawmaker, Cantor said, it would not be “helpful for this President, who is having a tough enough time as it is, to have 535 members of Congress to opine on his conduct of foreign policy.”
Yet with his remarks, which aides said were planned in advance, Cantor appeared to be articulating a different policy objective than the one Obama has spoken of most frequently.
“I think the primary goal should be to stop the spread of radical Islam. That is where our focus should be,” he said.
Since the protests first arose, Obama has called for a transition to a government — regardless of its leader — that grants greater freedoms than Mubarak allows in a nation of 80 million.
“The future of Egypt will be determined by its people. It’s also clear that there needs to be a transition process that begins now. That transition must initiate a process that respects the universal rights of the Egyptian people and that leads to free and fair elections,” the president said late last week.
Mubarak, who has been in power nearly 30 years, has been a strong ally of the United States in the Middle East as well as in its attempt to rein in international terrorists. He also has abided by the peace treaty with Israel signed by his predecessor.
At the same time, in recent years U.S. presidents have urged Mubarak to allow greater freedoms for Egyptians, including free elections.
Cantor is Jewish and a strong supporter of Israel, whose leaders have been watching events unfold in Egypt with apprehension.
Asked whether Cantor’s remarks stemmed at least in part from his position on Israel, Cantor spokesman Brad Dayspring said the majority leader “has consistently made clear that the expansion of radical Islam is a global danger and is bad for America and our allies.”
Other traditional congressional supporters of Israel have also remained on the sidelines while Obama grapples with the protests in Egypt.
Simultaneously, one of the most powerful lobbying organizations in Washington, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, has been largely silent on the fast-moving developments. AIPAC holds considerable sway with lawmakers and many take their lead from the group.

After the incredible bloodshed necessary to establish the muhammedans, it only took a few decades for them to get it together and beginning their first war against Christian powers. That was 722 ad. They were re-fighting those same wars for centuries taking breaks only to fight among themselves.
Folks, please, understand that it is Islam itself by its very nature that is the problem and not some “radicalized” version of Islam. What we call “moderate” muslims, they call “supply corps”.

Posted on February 8, 2011 at 8:14pmFinally! Thank you Majority Leader Cantor. I love him! He handled that better than anyone else has.
- It is in the interest of the US to stop the spread of radical Islam – period.
- It is our position that radical Islam should not be spread – period.
- The people deserve democracy and human rights should not be violated – PERIOD.
I would add – if that is a problem for anyone, we don’t care; but of course he can’t do that because it would be inappropriate. Barry and Hillary have to take the lead on this one.
Gosh I miss having strong leadership in Washington.

Posted on February 8, 2011 at 7:41pmThis mentality of evangelism as jihad also finds its support in Islam under the category of two specific doctrines called Kithman and Taqiya. Kithman is a command to deliberately conceal one’s beliefs. It is a particular form of lying primarily practiced by the minority Shia’ Muslims. This doctrine is articulated by Imam Jafar Sadiq, the sixth Imam of Shia’ Islam:
One, who exposes something from our religion is like one who intentionally kills us. 2
You belong to a religion that whosoever conceals it, Allah will honor him and whosoever reveals it, Allah will disgrace him. If Obama is NOT a Muslim, he’s got this down pat!
So Shia’ Muslims are commanded to purposefully hide what they truly believe in order to mislead outsiders as to the true nature of their religion. One cannot help but to immediately think of Jesus’ words, when He told his followers never to hide their religion:
You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:14-16
But instead, Shia’ Muslim are said to “belong to a religion that whosoever conceals it, Allah will honor him and whosoever reveals it, Allah will disgrace him.” That is the doctrine of kithman. To most westerners, this concept is unimaginable and completely contrary to reason. If you have something good, then share it. If you have something to hide, then I probably don’t want it anyway.
There is not Peace in Islam as it was by Mohammad’s own beliefs, inspired by a demon. Let Peas be upon Allah the feminine god and Mohammad the deceived and deceiver. Jesus said that no man cometh unto the Father (God) but by me! Jesus died for Mohammad’s sins as well as for those of the whole world.

Although the majority leader post is officially the No. 2 slot in the House of Representatives, the truth is, Cantor will hold tremendous behind-the-scenes power in the Republican caucus—greater than even Rep. John Boehner (R-Ohio), who is slated to become speaker of the House (and with whom Cantor has never been on the best of terms).
Cantor’s particular influence stems from his control—along with another pro-Israeli hardliner, former Sen. Norm Coleman (R-Minn.)—of a secretive and well-funded political action committee, the American Action Network (AAN), run by Cantor’s close advisor and former chief of staff, Rob Collins.
Cantor’s AAN operation is believed to have raised up to $25 million this past year and spent at least $16 million in waging independent expenditures on behalf of Cantor-approved Republican candidates in the recent election.
On Oct. 25 even The Washington Post was moved to describe AAN as “mysterious” and described Collins as one of “a small circle of operatives with the coveted expertise of actually running such secretive organizations.”
Collins himself has said, “I have a weird gift for raising money.”
That gift has given new power to Cantor, who played a major part though AAN in orchestrating the GOP victory, bankrolled by well-heeled contributors whose names are not required to be revealed to the Federal Election Commission.
It is no coincidence that two other, similar fundraising ventures—American Crossroads and Crossroads GPS, both run by former George W. Bush operative Karl Rove—share offices with Cantor’s AAN. Ellen Miler of the Sunlight Foundation said the massive spending by such groups in the 2010 elections is the “how-to” for the 2012 election.
“It’s how to use corporate money, how to use secret money, to buy elections,” she said. “It’s going to be no holds barred.”
While most members of Congress generally rely on campaign contributions from within their own districts, examination of Cantor’s reported contributions indicate that his political fortunes have relied extensively on a great deal of money supplied by Jewish contributors from across the country.
Cantor is able to tap into those same sources to fund his AAN operation on behalf of pro-Israel Republicans. So, Cantor’s access to tens of millions of dollars in secret cash contributions makes this young congressman particularly influential, today and in the future.
