Fired-Up Rep. Gowdy Has a Message for Nancy Pelosi and Her Voter Suppression Claims: ‘Mind-Numbingly Stupid’

Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) responded to House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi’s claims that Republicans were only going after Attorney General Eric Holder in the “Fast and Furious” investigation in order to further an imaginary GOP agenda of voter suppression, calling the assertion “mind-numbingly stupid.”

“You know my friend Allen West said the race card was the last card in the deck. I think former Speaker Pelosi has opened up a new deck and has found the 2 of clubs. I could not believe it when I heard her saying that. Is that all you have to come back with?” Gowdy told Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren Thursday night.

“Is that the best you can come up with, is that we got together in this grand scheme to suppress votes and I‘m sure she didn’t say southern states but that’s what she meant,” he added.

At this point, Gowdy was letting it fly and saying exactly what he, and likely many others, think about Pelosi’s bizarre claim.

He went on: “It’s really beneath the office of a member of Congress to say something that outrageous and the fact that she was once the Speaker is mind numbing. I honestly, and I have heard a lot in my 16 years as a prosecutor, I couldn’t believe the words coming out of her mouth. But keep in mind, Greta, this is the same woman who said she could have arrested Karl Rove any day she wanted. So I don’t know what was wrong with her yesterday or today or whenever she said that, but I would schedule an appointment with my doctor if she thinks that we are doing this to suppress votes this fall. That is mind-numbingly stupid.”

After ranting a little bit and releasing some of his frustration, Gowdy argued Fast and Furious is not a “political exercise” and that he would be saying and doing the exact same things if the attorney general happened to be a Republican: “Turn over the dad-gum documents.”

Rep. Gowdy made a splash earlier this week when he unloaded on Holder‘s unwillingness to cooperate in the Fast and Furious investigation and President Obama’s decision to assert executive privilege over documents related to the probe during a House Oversight and Government Reform Committee hearing on Wednesday. He raised his voice several times and gave such an impassioned speech he even inspired his own YouTube video titled “Rep. Gowdy is a Fast and Furious Rockstar”:

“He is either part of it or he’s not. If he’s part of it, then we’ve had a series of witnesses that have misled this committee. If he’s not part of it, then he’s got no business asserting executive privilege,” Gowdy said about Obama.

    This guy is great! As for Pelosi, you can tell how worried she is getting because of how crazy her accusations are becoming. First that she could have arrested Carl Rowe anytime she wanted, and now the accusation that the Republicans are after Holder in an attempt to suppress minority votes. I for one hope that Nancy keeps making her idiotic statements. Let everyone know just what kind of crackpots are leading the democrat party.

      Where was this guy when Polusie was giving the citizens of the USA the old middle finger. I remember her saying, “You have to vote on it to see what is in it.” I used to visit my uncle in a nurseing home before he died and I saw a lot of people like Nancy. My uncles roommate would pee on himself and get a smile on his face and he would say, “Thats so nice and warm.” Holder should have been booted a long time ago. Even I know what the statue with the blindfold on means – Justice is Blind. When Holder refused to jail the black Panthers for voter intimidation. His only interest is color – not Justice. Maybe it’s time to make this a position thet we voters have to vote on like we do at the state level.

      I agree. This guy should be all over the news, but sadly this is the first time I have ever seen him!
      As for TV goes–I don’t have cable, only access to CBS, NBC, ABC. If I did NOT have access to the internet (Drudge and The Blaze), I would never know what F&F is. Unforunately, most ‘I don’t care about politics‘ American’s don’t know b/c all they watch are the alphabet channels. If the news groups on these channels did their jobs, America would be furious right now! Instead, there is a eery silence.
      Our media should be held in contempt.

      Nancy has fooled the public long enough; has supplied and replenished her personal coffers with ill gotten public money, even passing bills that gave bundles to her family & husband’s businesses.
      Yeah, it pizzes me off, but I know in the end, she reports to GOD for her ill gotten gains and lying and cheating……oh, I forgot, this is how you run Washington D.C., you skreu the public with word and deed and that makes it ok because it’s ok to be corrupt in D.C.       I agree. This man speaks plainly and with excellent logic…a future leader with character and principles. Pelosi needs to go. She has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that she is an idiot who puts power before country…as does Obama, but he is not an idiot. My gut tells me they were trying to do something to infringe on the 2nd Amendment Right to Bear Arms. This is a dangerous political situation. With the executive privilege, my gut tells me Obama was involved. I can understand why Trey Gowdy answered as he did on that question. The chain of events heavily indicates Obama knew about this from the start. We need the TRUTH!

      @turkey13, Where was Trey Gowdy when Obamacare was being argued? He was still 7th Circuit Solicitor (that’s a district attorney in SC) and arguing cases in real court. Before that, he was a Federal Prosecutor. He rode in on the wave that swept through the House in 2010. This validates that the changes need to continue in the House and Senate in 2012. Happy to have him as my congressman.

He pushed Scott to do it… He is a Crist lackey and therefore is rather suspect. scott has put safeguards into place that will protect people who in fact may not have been citizens but now have there citizenship, or for whatever reason are legitimate voters.. It is a typical diversion of smoke and mirrors on the part of the left to make this about voter suppression. All right thinking / reasonable people in this country want legitimate elections.     If I didn’t already live in the best state in the US, I’d move to S.C. just to get to vote for this gentleman. I watched this live last night and was amazed at his courage.
    Remember back when our country wasn’t suffering from post-presidential-election traumatic stress disorder and we could actually enjoy listening to a politician?

    On a brighter note I did see John Boehner come out of hiding yesterday. With all this ruckus going on around the House one would think he would be a fixture on the news all day long. Maybe Nancy thinks she is still in charge.

We all know Pelosi is a babbling idiot, but the most frustrating thing is how Beoner and so many other republicans just hide, hoping not to dissolve like a vampire in the sun.

    The only way to get rid of that idiot Pelosi is through redistricting because they’ll continue to vote to keep her in office,must be something in the water out there that creates idiots.EPA get on this,on second thought abolish the EPA.

    It would appear that the Republicans, at least in the House, have found a previously hidden source of backbone. Apparently it was hiding under a pile of fake polling data and lies from the lefties in the media. It is about time. Too bad that it took this long for them to look. Their spines have been there all along. Now that you have found them, don’t lose them again. As those of us in the real world have found, they come in handy at times.

      She’s not delusional. She knows exactly what she’s doing. As I have said before about the many absurd comments from Nancy, she says it and the media repeats it and presto it becomes true for the masses that do not pay attention. Another word would be propaganda but that doesn’t quite fit. She’s essentially spreading lies about others.

      Grace: She probably is. The food stamp scam is so rampant that people “qualify” for food stamps all the time that are making a good wage or salary but find a way to work (cheat) the system. Since there is no stigma connected anymore with being on Government assistance, there are lots of people are taking advantage of things.
      In the way of a disclaimer and to keep the screaming to a minimum. I strongly support assisting people donating to the poor and helping those who are down. However, this should be done by the churches and individuals who carefully, thoughtfully and dare I say prayerfully consider each situation. The government uses the process to control, not help these people.

      @ ATHINKERINASEAOFLIBS, I’ve been out of work for two years. I never was able to get any help with food stamps. I watched as black women with expensive cell phones and very nice cars got all they wanted. Finally just gave up and grew my own garden in the back yard, lol.

      Hope you have or soon will find work. The government clearly has a place as a safety net. The problem that I see is that most people think that the little g (government) will take care of things) so they stop thanking God (Big G) for their very existence. As soon as we realize that the government is not God and the government stops thinking they are God we will all be better off.
