Rep. Issa Laments to The Blaze: ‘Sadly’ Eric Holder Prosecution Will ‘Not Occur Until After The Election’

In an exclusive interview with TheBlaze, Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) voiced his regret that Attorney General Eric Holder will not face civil contempt court proceedings relating to “Operation Fast and Furious” until after the presidential election in November.
“The rules of federal procedure are a little slow” Issa told The Blaze ”On October 15, Eric Holder and the Justice Department will answer the complaint, we assume that they‘ll move for dismissal and they’ll say there’s no value. We’ll move for summary judgement.”
In June, the U.S. House of Representatives, in a bipartisan vote, approved both a civil and criminal contempt resolution against Holder over his refusal to turn over documents relating to the failed federal gun-walking operation. The Department of Justice moved quickly to shield Holder from criminal contempt charges, however, Congress has since been pushing to advance civil contempt proceedings in a bid to force the Obama administration to turn over the documents via a court order.
But the dates set for these types of judgments will be past the Nov. 6 election date. Issa, who is Chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee says he is disappointed with this seemingly inevitable delay.
The trial will “sadly not occur until after the election” Issa told TheBlaze. However, the congressman reiterated that the proceedings have never been about politics or the upcoming presidential election. “It’s about getting to the truth, making sure it doesn’t happen again,” he said.
The California congressman said he doesn’t expect Holder to resign before the proceedings but Issa remains confident that the attorney general is guilty of failing to comply with a duly issued Congressional subpoena.
“I don’t think there can be anything more damning than to not have done your job well enough, and for a U.S. Border Patrol agent, hundreds of Mexican citizens and others to have died as a result” Issa Concluded.
TheBlaze’s Jason Howerton contributed to this report.

Posted on August 27, 2012 at 9:56pmAgreed WDAWG. Holder could shoot an American soldier in cold blood and all they would say is the gun misfired and sue Smith & Wesson. Then they would cancel all the death benefits. It was an accident. Chase Smith & Wesson to collect.

Posted on August 28, 2012 at 4:41amDAWG, It is this kind of thinking that got us into this mess. We need to speak out and, at least try to be heard. If we don’t, we are not doing what our forefathers envisioned and prayed for. This nation was built on Judeo-Christian values and principles, and one of those principles was the freedom to express yourself without fear of “any” recourse. We have an obligation and a duty to our fellow Americans, to seek the truth, wherever it leads us and let it be known. Then we are also obliged to act upon our findings, so justice can be served. There is still a chance, allbeit slim, that Holder and his ilk will be prosicuted, if not by our courts, he will surely be prosicuted by the court of the Almighty.

All of the serious accusations (F&F, GSA, HLS and so many more) somehow have “disappeared”, even from FOX news. I know that all is about the election, however, the public needs to be reminded of these stories to help rock the Romney/Ryan ticket to the WH. All of these crimes should be an R&R ad, and played often. While it was ok to say that Mitt killed that woman, Eric Holder & Big Sis did kill Terry and many innocent Mexicans..

Posted on August 27, 2012 at 7:08pmWhat illegal activities? Justice Department gun tracking operations were going on for years before Obama or Holder ever took office. Screwing up in the tracking pat of this particular operation is evidence of mere incompetence, not criminality. And he didn’t cause the death of anybody. Mexican drug cartels were not helpless and unarmed before the Justice Department started selling them guns, and they will not end up that way because the Justice Department stops selling them guns.

“Also, ‘Fast and Furious’ is huge and leads right to the White House and ‘State,’ but according to my sources, won’t be an issue because the politicians in charge of the investigations have been compromised and threatened. Napolitano knows everything about Fast and Furious and is working with Holder to impede the investigations. She’s using her political clout… ” added my source.

Posted on August 27, 2012 at 6:44pmThe entire Fast & Furious investigation was stretched out way way to much way way too often… Issa and the Republicans should have worked backwards from the election to make sure if this civil suit was necessary that they would have had the time to get it done before Nov 6th. You can be sure thats what the Democrats would have done if the roles were reversed.

Posted on August 27, 2012 at 7:02pmNot true. Any President can issue a blanket pardon at any time up to his last day in office, whether the person has being pardoned has been convicted of anything or not. Gerald Ford did this for Nixon when he pardoned him for any crimes he committed “or may have committed.”
