Rep. Issa Reveals Investigation of White House Regarding Solyndra, LightSquared

Republican Rep. Darrell Issa, chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, said on CSPAN Tuesday that he plans to investigate government loan programs following allegations of improper dealings between the White House and failed energy company Solyndra, as well as accusations that officials pressured an Air Force general into favorable testimony regarding a tech startup called LightSquared (The blaze has covered that aspect here):

Issa’s committee is looking into the Department of Energy’s loan guarantee to Solyndra after the solar panel manufacturer recently laid off 1,100 workers and filed for bankruptcy despite receiving a $535 million government loan guarantee.

The Hill reports that Issa is investigating whether it was improper for members of Congress or White House staff to select companies eligible for subsidized government loans when those companies could give campaign donations. Along with Solyndra, controversy has surround wireless startup LightSquared and its relationship with the White House and DNC:

“Republicans have also charged that the White House pressured an Air Force general to revise testimony before a closed congressional hearing to aid LightSquared, a wireless startup company. E-mails between the company and the White House make mention of the fact that the company’s CEO would be attending Democratic fundraisers in Washington, and administration officials met with executives from the company on the same day CEO Sanjiv Ahuja wrote a $30,400 check to the Democratic National Committee.”

The Daily Beast’s Eli Lake spoke with a second government official who confirmed that a representative from the White House’s Office of Management and Budget tried to influence his testimony concerning a wireless broadband project backed by Democratic donor Phillip Falcone, which military officials fear might impair sensitive satellite navigation systems. That project being LightSquared.

Still, in an interview yesterday with Megyn Kelly, Falcone denied any wrongdoing and said he’s donated to Republicans as well as Democrats and is actually a registered Republican:

“I want to see that when the president and his cronies are picking winners and losers, in the private market in this case in the solar panel matter, it wasn’t because there were large contributions given to them,” the California Republican told CSPAN.

In addition to the investigation of government loan guarantees, Issa discussed the fallout from the ATF’s “Fast & Furious” program and legislation relating to the U.S. Postal Service, and even answered interviewer Greta Brawner’s questions about investigation the News Corp. phone-hacking scandal:

    I glad the BLAZE got hold of Fox‘s Megan Kelly’s interrview with Lightsquare’s CEO. Like Senator Boxer, this CEO had no respect for the Air Force General’s testimony, and the other fact that Obama had a 90,000 dollar investment in Sky Terra; which Lightsquared bought out.       Where did Obama get 90,000-120,000 (invested Sky Terra) 2005 and now he has over 10-15 millions in short-term bonds. Past presidents normally do not make money until they leave office. The Obama claims claimed to be simple working people during the 2008 election and was having trouble paying their student loan bills.

      I hope Congressman Issa’s investigations include any of his house/senate colleagues from California who were involved with any of these schemes (either as investors or as campaign fund recipients), as well as any Obama cabinet/czar appointees whose agencies or departments were complicit.

      Needless to say, if more evidence of the likely illegal activities being investigated come to light, then he should demand that a Special Prosecutor be appointed.

Mr.Falcone repeatedly insinuates that there are no politics involved here, so we should all just calm down and go home, this is a business and technology matter. I bet the criminals got a big amount from the ‘stimulus’.. which more and more I think was just given to Obama operatives or was a stimulus to stimulate the base for re-election..     The Federal Government should be investigated for allowing the loans to take place. Imagine if Federal Government worked with the management of energy companies and promoted investment into green energy instead of bashing these energy producing companies why trying to steal their profits for wealth redistribution and more bad investments. More companies would come to the table with their assets encouraging growth in the right direction over time and create more jobs. At the same time the Federal Government would have more revenue to pay down the debt, and eventually even get out of business all together. We need to take our country back!

    How much is enough until someone has the guts to directly implement Emperor Obama with Solyndra, LightSquared, Fast & Furious. How many scandals? How many deaths? This is the most corrupt regime in the History of the US. Enough of the investigations charges need to be brought on someone. They need to get the ball rolling to get to the next level, to put pressure on someone with the threat of jail time to start talking. You know it, I know it, Emperor Obamas “hands are covered in blood” with at least one of these scandals. My money is on Fast & Furious, since he has made it clear via his voting record and promises to gun control advocates. Every week something is coming out about some deals being made and then it blows up like Solyndra or F&F! I have read that the bad paper at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac was pushed from 50 to 56 percent of all loans under the Bush Administration. All of this needs to get out.

      Not only that, but the worthless paper from Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac was pushed onto the World financial markets and countries like Iceland suffered a huge blow to their pension investments. It’s a wonder that anyone would have anything to do with us after that sleight-of-hhand! Barney Frank ought to be sitting in a Federal Prison somewhere, as should Chris Dodd and others. I‘m not happy that it occurred during Bush’s watch, but there were so many traps set for him by the outgoing Clinton administration (like the Clean Water Arsenic Trap) that I doubt he could have stopped it if he wanted to–actually, I believe that Bush repeatedly called attention to the mortgage shennanigans! Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac constitute toxic waste, even now–wait until the foreclosures are converted to rental then filled with Section 8, Govt. guaranteed rentals!!! Sheesh!

      eraldo ny tea party: If you want God to intervene on our behalf so we know peace and preserve our freedom, then there are a few things that we as Americans need to do. We need to do more than form committees to look into the fraudulent and questionable things going on in government right now…we need to get results from these committee meetings. Talk is cheap. We need to have consequences for these corrupt behaviors, and punish the corrupt people. I’m still waiting for someone in authority to look into two fraudu**lent bir##th certifica$$tes, and the Conn**ecticut social secu##rity number that was scrubbed from the rolls in the last few weeks. Nothing about this administration has been above board. Its corruption stinks to high heaven, and EVERYONE knows it, yet nothing is done about any of it.
      If we are to SAVE OUR REPUBLIC, then we are going to have to choose our own candidate for the Republican party, and not let the Bilder**berg Grou##p choose a candidate for us. Rick Perry is another one of their plants, and we should get the blinders off of our eyes, and realize that. The Republicans in this country are falling lock-step into the wishes of this group again by falling for their plant Rick Perry. I’ve been studying this group, and I know their agenda and their tactics. They seem to pick all the democratic and Republican candidates for us.       It was? From what I have heard: An intensive investigation has revealed the identity of the man whose Social Security number (SSN) is being used by President Obama: Jean Paul Ludwig, who was born in France in 1890, emigrated to the United States in 1924, and was assigned SSN 042-68-4425 (Obama’s current SSN) in or about March 1977.
      Ludwig lived most of his adult life in Connecticut. Because of that, his SSN begins with the digits 042, which are among only a select few reserved for Connecticut residents.
      Obama never lived or worked in that state! Therefore, there is no reason on earth for his SSN to start with the digits 042. None whatsoever!
      Now comes the best part! Ludwig spent the final months of his life in Hawaii, where he died.
      Conveniently, Obama’s grandmother, Madelyn Payne Dunham, worked part-time in the Probate Office in the Honolulu Hawaii Courthouse, and therefore had access to the SSNs of deceased individuals.
      The Social Security Administration was never informed of Ludwig’sdeath, and because he never received Social Security benefits there were no benefits to stop and therefore, no questions were ever raised.
      The suspicion, of course, is that Dunham, knowing her grandson was not a U.S. citizen, either because he was born in Kenya or became a citizen of Indonesia upon his adoption by Lolo Soetoro simply scoured the probate records until she found someone who died who was not receiving Social Security benefits, and selected Mr. Ludwigs SSN for Obam

      “Obama camp. Media Matters, the Soros-funded outfit, has attacked Issa. The latest round of attacks come from the New York Times and the Soros-funded Center for American Progress and its political action arm Think Progress.

      Last week the paper gave Issa the type of treatment it meted out to John McCain during the 2008 campaign: a front-page column calling into question various aspects of Issa’s business career. Some of this material was recycled from a previous New Yorker magazine profile on Issa (the New Yorker is also an Obama cheerleader, Koch brothers attacker and Soros-defender). Other material was just speculation and some “facts” were just plain wrong.

      “This complaint is entirely without merit. The White House has used an assortment of outside progressive groups in an effort to attack Oversight and Chairman Issa directly. This is just their latest salvo in an ongoing effort to obstruct oversight,” said Frederick Hill, Issa’s spokesman.”

      The charges against Issa are unfounded Liberal claims that will go nowhere.

    I suppose one could do all the investigation you want and it would make at best some good talking points, outside of that the justice department would not prosecute anything there. Good election material for later is as good as it could get.

      With this bunch up in the WH there will an abundant supply of campaign material for our side. Nothing surprises me anymore. I wish we would impeach ASAP and bring criminal charges.
