Rep. King Defends Radical Islam Hearings: I’m Not Caving to Political Correctness

Rep. Peter King (R-NY) won’t be bullied or swayed by celebrities or rallies. That’s the message he sent during an appearance on “Fox & Friends” Monday morning while discussing plans to hold hearings on radical Islam in America.

King, chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, didn’t mince words while sticking to his position that radical Islam is, and should be, a concern in the United States.

“I’m going ahead with the hearings,” King said, while reminding the audience that even Obama administration officials have worried about young, radicalized Muslims as well as home-grown terrorists.

“They can yell in Times Square and they can get all these celebrities out they want attacking me. I’m not gonna stop,” he reiterated. “I’m not gonna give in to political correctness:”

Rally in Times Square they did. On Sunday, some 300 people rallied in the heart of Manhattan to speak out against King’s planned congressional hearing on Muslim terrorism, criticizing it as xenophobic and accusing the Rep. of singling out Muslims rather than extremists.

Hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons and the imam who had led an effort to build an Islamic center near the World Trade Center site were among those who addressed the crowd.

“Our real enemy is not Islam or Muslims,” said the imam, Feisal Abdul Rauf. “The enemy is extremism and radicalism and radical ideology.”

In response, King on Monday made clear he wasn’t indicting the entire Muslim community, but rather calling on moderate Muslims to “push aside” radical groups and individuals.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

now we just need a Presidential candidate with this same fortititude and resolve and disgust at what is happening, who is willing to stand up and call a spade a spade and expose every single aspect of the obama agenda. America is still 88% White and overwhelmingly still Christian, we should not be bowing to any group like the obama commie/muslim/blacks who totally hate America…and US.. Time to set our American values and priorities right again.

Once Catholic Georgetown University, diseased by liberalism and “social justice” has been in bed with Libya blood money along with other muslim nation leaders for years. In 2005, they received a $20 million dollar gift from HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal, to expand its Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding (CMCU). Their “uderstanding” is islmaic only. The director of the center, John L. Esposito a convert from Catholism to Islam, promotes change “one voice’ in Georgetown, the “Islamic voice.” Kiss your Christian universities goodbye, money speaks louder, and Rev Sharpy smells the money.

Also, guilt by association is idiotic. Would you be okay with me condemning you (under the assumption that you are a Christian) for some Christians murdering Hindu infants in India or burning children as witches in Africa?

And while we’re looking at radical Islam, we should look at how conservative bigots in America feed into it. Osama bin Laden’s most effective recruitment line is that America preaches religious freedom, but practices hatred against Muslims. And you guys prove him right every day.

If anti-Muslim comments on the Blaze were about African Americans, or Jews, or Catholics, you (or at least most of you) would immediately recognize them as morally repugnant.

It doesn’t even make sense. Do you really think that over a billion Muslims are trying to kill you? And that they’ve been at it for 1400 years? LOL. The vast majority of them don’t seem to be trying very hard.

I‘m going to go out on a limb here and guess that most of you don’t know many Muslims. Why don’t you go out and actually talk to some? If they try to kill you, I’ll owe you a Coke.

Moonbat… You ought to buy some stock in Coke. You might need to get a discount after making that statement. Here a few facts as to what they are up to in the US.

      Muslim brotherhood…

“Allah is our objective, the Prophet is our leader, the Koran is our law, Jihad is our way, and dying in the way of Allah is our highest hope. Allahu akbar!”

      CAIR and the Muslim Brotherhood

      MARCH 24, 2009 4:00 A.M.
      CAIR’s Well-Deserved Expulsion
Terrorism is only one expression of jihad — there are others as dangerous.

A week ago, the FBI officially announced that it has cut ties with the Council on American-Islamic Relations. The self-styled civil-rights organization is characteristically squawking, but the FBI’s move was patently overdue — so much so that we ought to be asking: Why on earth did the FBI have ties with CAIR in the first place?

While we should applaud the government for finally doing the right thing, we also must seize this moment to consider why this action was necessary, and what it says about the threat we are up against.

That threat is not, essentially, about terrorism. Given the life-and-death stakes involved, it is understandable that government is preoccupied by terrorism (or what Obama’s homeland-security secretary, Janet Napolitano, absurdly calls “man-caused disasters”). But jihadist terror is merely the means to a specific end: the installation of sharia, the Islamic legal code, which Muslim fundamentalists regard as the necessary precondition for the achievement of Islam’s universalist ambitions.

Sharia should be of grave concern to us because it is antithetical to the U.S. Constitution and to our way of life. It rejects several core American propositions: that liberty cannot co-exist with an established state religion, that free people have a right to govern themselves irrespective of any religious code’s dictates, that there should be freedom of conscience (sharia holds that apostasy from Islam is not merely a crime but a capital offense), sexual liberty (homosexuality is also a death-penalty offense), and equal protection under the law (sharia privileges Muslims over non-Muslims and men over women). Sharia, furthermore, is the rationale commonly trotted out by militants to justify the use of force (whether we call it “terrorism” or employ such sophistries as “resistance” or “man-caused disasters”) for resolving policy disputes — under the rationale that policies that do not privilege Islam constitute an attack on Islam and therefore justify jihadist violence.

Incrementally establishing sharia is the central imperative of CAIR and several other organizations to which our government has recklessly been reaching out for years, since long before the 9/11 attacks. In sum, administrations of both parties, and executive branch agencies including the FBI, have taken the position that government’s only legitimate concern is the comparatively tiny cohort of terrorists who construe Islamic scriptures to command mass-murder attacks.

Not only have we averted our eyes from the ideology that motivates jihadism. We have affirmatively anointed as Muslim “moderates” the purveyors of this ideology, who are anything but moderate. Worse, the effect has been to empower anti-American elements at the expense of authentic Muslim moderates and reformers who crave liberty.

CAIR is an outgrowth of the Muslim Brotherhood, an Egyptian organization founded in 1928 that today boasts divisions throughout the world. The Brotherhood has been operating in the United States since the 1960s in a manner fully consistent with its motto: “Allah is our objective. The Prophet is our leader. The Quran is our law. Jihad is our way. Dying in the way of Allah is our highest hope.” Its website makes no bones about the fact that it seeks “the introduction of the Islamic Shariah as the basis for controlling the affairs of state and society.”

Last year, the government won convictions in a terrorism-financing trial that targeted an ostensible Islamic charity, the Holy Land Foundation, along with several of its top operatives. CAIR has complained long and loud because prosecutors identified it as an unindicted co-conspirator in the case. Its argument that this was a smear is specious. The issue is not whether the government named CAIR on a list disseminated pretrial; what’s germane is the basis for that listing. The government richly supported its assertion with evidence, and no citizen or organization has a right to expunge that which is proved in the public’s courts.

At trial, the jury was treated to a 1991 Brotherhood memorandum that described the organization’s “work in America” as “a kind of grand jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and ‘sabotaging’ its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers, so that it is eliminated and God’s religion is made victorious over all other religions.” CAIR has been the linchpin of that strategy.

Some history is in order. In 1987, the Brotherhood had established Hamas (or “the Islamic Resistance Movement,” as it describes itself). As its charter professes, Hamas

is one of the wings of Muslim Brotherhood in Palestine. Muslim Brotherhood Movement is a universal organization which constitutes the largest Islamic movement in modern times. It is characterized by its deep understanding, accurate comprehension and its complete embrace of all Islamic concepts of all aspects of life, culture, creed, politics, economics, education, society, justice and judgment, the spreading of Islam, education, art, information, science of the occult and conversion to Islam.

In a memorandum filed in a Texas federal court, prosecutors further elaborated that, through the early 1990s, “the Muslim Brotherhood was controlled by Palestinian Muslim Brotherhood members, and the leader of the U.S.-Muslim Brotherhood was Mousa Abu Marzook, who in 1989 was selected to be the leader of HAMAS, a position that he held while residing in the United States and controlling the U.S.-Muslim Brotherhood.” To support Hamas, the Brotherhood established a “Palestine Committee” in the United States.

Marzook (deported in 1995, he is currently wanted on a U.S. terrorism indictment in Chicago) led the Palestine Committee. One of its most important members was Omar Ahmad, who became president of the Islamic Association for Palestine (IAP), which Marzook had formed years earlier. In 1993, the Palestine Committee convened a meeting in Philadelphia to plot a strategy for destroying the Oslo Accords’ vision of a two-state solution — Palestine peacefully co-existing with Israel, which Hamas is pledged to destroy. The meeting was secretly surveilled by the FBI, which caught Ahmad conversing with Nihad Awad, the IAP’s public-relations director, about strategies for deceiving Americans about their true intentions.

Less than a year later, Ahmad and Awad formed CAIR. The Holy Land Foundation, which was ultimately shuttered by the government and finally convicted for providing millions of dollars to Hamas, contributed part of the seed money. To serve as CAIR’s communications director, Ahmad and Awad tapped Ibrahim Hooper, another IAP veteran who has publicly acknowledged that his purpose is to establish sharia as the law of the United States.

Since its founding, several CAIR officials have been convicted or deported for terrorism-related activities and for other criminal offenses. CAIR, meanwhile, has sought to undermine national security — and the FBI specifically — at every turn: frequently mounting public-relations campaigns for indicted terror suspects, vigorously opposing the Patriot Act and the surveillance of suspected al-Qaeda communications, and even distributing a “Muslim community safety kit” that discourages cooperation with the FBI.

Despite that sordid record, government officials regarded CAIR as a representative and leader of American Muslims. Our law-enforcement and national-security agencies consulted with it closely and even permitted it to indoctrinate our agents during compulsory “sensitivity training” lectures. Doing so, they raised its profile, facilitated its radical, anti-American agenda, and dispirited our allies in the Muslim community, many of whom are in the United States precisely because they don’t want to live in the totalitarian misery the Muslim Brotherhood and its satellites would impose.

The major threat we face today is not what al-Qaeda may do to the grand structures that house our government and our institutions. It is what radical Islam is accomplishing inside those structures. Thankfully, the FBI has shown CAIR the door. But that only begins to address the problem.

      @ Wartface

You have to wonder about any point that takes 21 paragraphs to make…

Look — I’m certainly not denying that radical Islam exists. I am saying that it’s absurd, bigoted and more than a little racist to think that a fifth of the world’s population is trying to kill us. There are plenty of Christian organizations who promote violence, too. (Ever hear of the Klan? The IRA?)

We’re both Americans. We might be neighbors. And yet, obviously, we disagree about an awful lot. How can you think that one billion Muslims are any less diverse? By entertaining our ugliest assumptions about them, we are encouraging their worst assumptions about us.

I don’t think @moonbat is being a troll. Troll’s try to elicit emotional responses. @moonbat seems to be making logical arguments. You can disagree – but don’t brush it aside as if he is calling names.

In fact, I think @moonbat makes a very good point. One I agree with.

If you look at some of the comments above they tend to justify Rep King’s actions because either (a. They group all Muslims into some kind of dangerous category or (b. Because they are tired of political correctness.

@moonbat makes a very solid point. Not ALL Muslims are out to get you. America is a diverse and tolerant place. We are even tolerant of people we disagree with like the West Baptist Church. To have an investigation into “Radical Islam” is a step in a dangerous direction.

I‘m fine with an investigation into radical’s. That would include Christians that kill abortion doctors, Jews that commit crimes, etc. But to focus it on Muslims is a step towards persecuting an entire people for their religion.

Again, I think we can all agree that there are radical muslims. I think we can agree that we don’t want radical muslims. But I would say the same for any and all religions save Buddhism maybe ;)

      Just my .02

Comments about “go home” or “leave” etc – are unconstructive and un-American IMHO.

Have decided that “political correctness” is only the vocal aspect of the “collectiveness” or NWO (or whatever you want to call it) they want to push us toward. To have everything considered as a whole, you can’t have one country viewed as exceptional–everyone is the same.

To have collectiveness in religion, you can’t believe you worship the “One true GOD” everyone’s god will have to be considered equal. Think that is why we all need to really pay attention to what both our politicans and pastors are doing. We already see this creeping into our churches. And we know what is going on in our government wanting to use UN rules regarding US laws.

      Good for Congressman King!!

Political Correctness can and has been deadly… Like when that worthless muslim killed our soldiers on that military base in Texas. High ranking officers knew he was a radical, worthless pig and just kept transferring him to other bases to get rid of him. What should have been done early on is court martial his ass, put him the brig and then deport him.

Same thing happened with the low life Catholic pedophile priests. The higher ups played whack a mole, moving them around to protect the honor of the church – the kids be damned – the honor of the church was more important! That didn’t turn out to good for the kids they were allowed to prey
      on or the church.

The truth never lies…radicals alway do!

The Government is playing the Political Correctness game with the Muslim Brotherhood organization of America. They now have Centers in all 50 States and the only person in the Media or Government that will discuss their presence is Glenn.

Their motto is: “Allah is our objective, the Prophet is our leader, the Koran is our law, Jihad is our way, and dying in the way of Allah is our highest hope. Allahu akbar!”

They want to convert America to an Islamic State… And nobody of any power will talk about it.

POLITICAL CORRECTNESS HAS PROVEN TO BE DEADLY! Discourage it every chance you get!

It’s about time others join with Rep Allan West in bringing to light the biggest threat to American. While everyone is always careful to always say a few radicals but if you study out the religion there is no place it in American.

I would like to see people go back in the closet so to speak. In times past people were more likely to keep UN American beliefs and values at home. But in modern times seems everyone what to keep their former religious/beliefs public and try to force their views on the rest of us all. I know this will not go over well but seems everyone wants to be in American but still live like they did where ever they come from?? Makes no sense at all to me. If one wants to keeps all the ways of another nation then stay the hell there.

Islam is Islam, whether you are radical or not. Saying you are a moderate muslim is the same as calling someone a “sunday Christian.” Some follow the Koran more closely than others, but you won’t hear much condemnation coming from most of them. I don’t trust any of them, as they practice “taqiyya,” the deception to infidels to promote the Islamic faith. When you come to America, you are expected to be tolerant of other religions and people, as we will be to you. If you can’t play nice, go back home.

The following was taken from Hal Lindsey’s program (“The Hal Lindsey Report”) and is a step by step analysis of what happens when nations submit to Islam. Remember, the goal of Islam is a world where EVERYONE is a Muslim. When Muslims talk about Islam being a religion of peace, they mean that peace on earth will be achieved when EVERYONE is a Muslim.

      1) As long as the Muslim population stays under 2% in any given country, it will be for the most part regarded as a peace-loving (e.g., U.S., Australia, Italy, China, Norway, Canada).

      2) When the Muslim population reaches between 2% to 5% of the total population, Muslims begin to proselytize to other ethnic minorities, disaffected groups, prison inmates and street gang members (e.g., Denmark, U.K., Germany, Spain).

      3) Once Muslims comprise at least 5% of a nation’s total population, they exercise an influence disproportionate to their actual numbers, which can be seen in countries where Muslims threaten violence against supermarket chains that do not carry halal food (e.g., France, Switzerland, Philippines, Sweden).

      4) When the Muslim minority approaches 10% of the population, they begin to utilize violent demonstrations as a means of securing their demands and riot in response to perceived offenses against Islam (e.g., the Netherlands).

      5) After the Muslim populations reaches 20%, nations can expect hair-trigger rioting, jihad militia formations, sporadic killing, burnings of Christian churches and destruction of Jewish synagogues (e.g., Ethiopia).

      6) At 40%, nations may expect wide-spread massacres, chronic terror attacks, and ongoing militia warfare (e.g., Bosnia, Chad, Lebanon).

      7) When the Muslim population reaches 60%, nations experience unfettered persecutions of infidels (i.e., non-Muslim) through ethnic-cleansing, genocide and the use of sharia law as a weapon (e.g, Malaysia, Albania, Qatar, the Sudan).

      8) At 80%, a nation’s citizen can expect daily intimidation, violent jihad and state-run ethnic cleansing/genocide, as these nations drive out the infidels and move toward the goal of a 100% Muslim population (e.g., Egypt, Gaza, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Morocco, Pakistan, Syria, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates).

      9) When a nation achieves the Islamic goal of a 100% Muslim population, it ushers in Dar al Salaam, which means “the House of Peace.” The reason there’s supposed to be peace in these nations is because everybody is a Muslim. In countries like Afghanistan where Dar al Salaam has been achieved, orthodox Muslims (e.g., the Taliban) rule over fellow Muslims with an iron fist and order is maintained through the specter of public executions, beatings, mutilations and stonings.

There will be no N.O.W. in an Islamic America, there will be no Gay Pride parades in an Islamic America and there will be no American Atheist Magazine in an Islamic America. So, to all of you Liberals who like calling people like me and Representative King ignorant, remember that the goal of Islam is to rid the world of people like you.

“The following was taken from Hal Lindsey’s program…So, to all of you Liberals who like calling people like me and Representative King ignorant, remember that the goal of Islam is to rid the world of people like you.”

You make a lot of generalizations you have no empirical evidence for and offer no reason to think any of these things are unique to Muslims–for example “the goal of Islam is to rid the world of people like you…” how does this not describe every ideology–holding an ideological belief implies one believes it to be true, and by extension, they most likely feel others should come to the same conclusion. Doesn’t the Book of Revelation in Christianity describe a global unification of humanity under the rule of Christendom

      —–

If a Muslim slices the head off of someone because he won’t submit to the demonic god of Islam, that Muslim is following the example and teachings of Muhammad; if Christians pray for someone to receive the gift of salvation through Christ, he is following the example and teachings of Jesus (Jn 17:20). As a matter of fact, about the most severe thing a Christian is supposed to do in response to an unbeliever refusing the message of salvation is to leave that person to his own fate (Mt 10:13-14), which is Hell.

The Book of Revelation is about the unveiling of Jesus Christ to the world and his judgment of the world. Trust me, you don’t want to be sitting on the fence when Jesus reveals himself to the unbelievers of the world. If you have heartfelt questions about salvation, ask God to reveal the truth to you about Jesus and when he does, don’t just write it off as coincidence.
