Rep. Peter King: Iran May Have ‘Hundreds’ of Hezbollah Agents In America

It’s widely known that Iranian relations with the West are less-than-stellar. But is it possible that the Middle Eastern nation is so adamant about its opposition to America that its leaders would be willing to secretly slip hundreds of secret, terrorist-friendly agents inside of America? Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.) thinks so, as this is precisely what he claimed during a House Committee on Homeland Security meeting on Wednesday (King chairs this committee).

“We have a duty to prepare for the worst,” he said during the meeting’s opening, going on to warn about the hundreds of agents that could already be operating here in America.

“As Iran moves closer to nuclear weapons and there is increasing concern over war between Iran and Israel, we must also focus on Iran’s secret operatives and their number one terrorist proxy force, Hezbollah, which we know is in America,” King continued.

Experts at the meeting included former government officials at the FBI, Drug Enforcement Administration and U.S. Treasury, among other agencies, and the director of intelligence for the New York Police Department (NYPD). Considering a failed Iranian attempt to assassinate the Saudi Ambassador to the United States in Washington, D.C. last year, there’s no question that intelligence experts see increasing internal dangers here in America.

At the end of January, The Blaze’s Buck Sexton reported:

The U.S. intelligence community believes that Iran is prepared to launch terrorist attacks inside the United States in response to perceived threats from America and its allies, Director of National Intelligence James Clapper told the Senate Tuesday morning in an open hearing.

In prepared testimony given to the U.S. Select Committee on Intelligence, Clapper stated than an alleged Iranian plot to assassinate the Saudi Ambassador to the United States shows a shift in Tehran’s strategy towards a willingness to plot and conduct attacks within the U.S.

During his testimony, Clapper claimed that the failed ambassador plot, “shows that some Iranian officials — probably including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei — have changed their calculus and are now more willing to conduct an attack in the United States in response to real or perceived U.S. actions that threaten the regime.”

But not everyone was convinced that all of the information presented at King’s hearing was fresh and up-to-date. Rep Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.) casted doubt on the meeting and wondered why “no current federal officials” were asked to weigh in on the situation on Wednesday.

“A word of caution is in order. When we examine our relationship with another country, we cannot look at any particular moment in time and pretend that it tells the whole story,” he said. “We cannot view the politics, history and culture of any other country clearly by seeing a snapshot version.”

King, quite obviously, didn‘t agree with Thompson’s assessment and said that the hearing’s focus was on an internal threat and not foreign policy. Thus, former government officials, he claimed, were more than appropriate in providing their testimony.

I love how bennie the dimwit is disputing the facts that they are here. was the attack not enough proof for you or do you like the other Ds need something bad to actually happen to see? I highly doubt even then the Ds of this country will wake up. They barely woke up after 9/11 I guess its too much to ask for people to use that jello mold under their skull and the eyes in their face

    I would add at least one zero to the end of the numbers used in the hearing. You have to wonder what numbers are used when the cameras are off and they go into closed session.

    We provide food aid to Iran. I do not know the value of the amount that we provide but its safe to say it is in the millions. Can anyone explain why we provide food aid to a country that believes we are the Great Satan and would rejoice at our death from terrorism or nuclear annihilation? Are we really so stupid?

      Watched this whole hearing on cspan last night. Serious faces….very chilling. We will need may Acts of Valor in this country. After watching this and their admittance of Iran, Venezuela, Mexico connection and the miles of boarder unprotected in Canada, tunnels from Mexico, Fed Gov not protecting boarders……it’s only a question of when. Problem….Commies in the WH…they don’t care…just party, play golf, travel and campaign with our money…the teleprompter will tell the idiots what to do.

    After all the government has done to secure the borders, how can anyone even think that Muslim operatives could have gained illegal entry into our wonderful nation?       Its a shame. No party, republican or democrat is willing to secure our borders and stop illegal immigration. Reps won‘t let the dems do it and dems won’t let reps do it. Each party wants credit for catering to the hispanic community which = a very large voting bolck.

    So what? US has active CAIS agents in Iran since 1950s, with a difference that US has damaged Iran, while Iran has ever done to US! The US agents in 1951 has toppled the democratically elected government of Dr Mossadeq in favour of Shah and ironically later in 1979 they assisted Khomeini to topple the Shah’s regime! Iran actually in this mess because of US interference in the Iranian affairs!

    Hmmmmmm . . . “Why no current federal officials?” Perhaps cause everyone w a brain knows B.O. has stacked his cultural sensitivity counselors in all the top agency positions! Our cia and head defense dept think the muslim brothrhood is a friendly group of human rights and democracy proponents for gods sake!     It would not be difficult for operatives to come across the border into the United States from Mexico. My husband grew up in El Paso, TX and we know how easy it is to get from one side of the border to the other–it happens on a daily basis. Also, I understand that there have been Islamic prayer rugs found along the border in Arizona. I wouldn’t be surprised at all to find out that Hezbollah has a presence in the United States. Anyone (Bennie Thompson) who refuses to acknowledge that this is at least a possibility is being willfully blind and probably shouldn’t be on the Homeland Security committee.

      @CloudsOfWar – most people cannot imagine the nightmare we soon will face; what happens this spring and summer with the Occupy bands, Union strikes (several west coast refineries are planning to strike, according to Drudge) and such, there will be economic and social disruption/chaos to make the 60s movements look tame by comparison.
