Rep. Rangel Found Guilty of Violating Ethics Rules

WASHINGTON (AP) — A House ethics panel has found Democratic Rep. Charles Rangel of New York guilty on 11 counts of breaking House rules.

The full ethics committee will next conduct a hearing on the appropriate punishment for the former chairman of the Ways and Means Committee. The committee will then make a recommendation to the House.

Possible punishments include a House vote deploring Rangel’s conduct, a fine and denial of privileges.

The eight-member ethics panel had sat as a jury to judge Rangel’s conduct. The 80-year-old congressman from Harlem was charged with 13 counts of financial and fundraising wrongdoing.

Thoughts of sun-filled days, California nights,

This was not a criminal trial. It was just an ethics hearing. Congress has no authority to do anything except put it in the record that he was found guilty of ethics violations.

If you want real justice then a REAL investigation needed to be opened by the justice department, not an impotent ethics committee that is powerless to do anything but wag their finger at him.

A civil suit filed by people who lost their homes against the committee, the banks and financial institutions who bundled the mortgages and sold them, and anyone else in the line of fire. None of those people have taken any responsibility for their part in the crash and the only thing that they understand is a “hit” in the wallet.

Rangel has paid all owed taxes already, and in the twisted logic of the Democrats should be excused from any further repercussions (see Geithner, Daschle, etc.).

The Ethics panel can put Rangel up for expulsion from Congress, but that would have to be voted on by the entire Congress, with 60% of votes needed.

I suspect they will ram a “reprimand” down his throat, that is the compromise he objected to these last two years, and he may be up for legal punishment if the Ethics Panel decides to hand it’s evidence over to the Justice Department/other appropriate authority.

This is going to go very badly for Charlie Rangel, and his delusional rants about the process or his intentions aside, it may very well kill him (he is 80 years old, and this is likely a great shock to his system)…

Beck is right, nobody in govt should make more $ than a soldier.
If a CONgressman makes a buck, he is overpaid.
I’m voting anyone out who has served ONE term, for the rest of my life.

      They are beyond the pale…

YOU ARE RIGHT; these CRIMINALS deserve jail time!!! Now can we do Maxine Waters next? She stole TARP money and gave it to her husband who is in an ownership position in a very small bank! JAIL TIME!!! How about the other, ‘black caucus’ member who stole taxpayer dollars meant for specific achievement college scholarships and gave the scholarships to all her grandchildren? JAIL TIME!!!
Why is there a black caucus? There are no Latino, Asian, White, etc caucus; America is about EQUAL JUSTICE and NOT social justice!
Are we going to look into Chris Dodd & Barney Frank? Let’s depose & expose these two criminals too. In the process, the details of the Freddie Mac / Fannie Mae debacle that caused the crash of the housing market will inevitably come out!
I’m not crying for, ‘witch hunts’. I am just reminding Republicans that NOT ONLY do they have to accomplish ALL promises made in the recent ‘Pledge to America’, but to restore our faith in congress, the criminals need to be exposed. Once Americans understand how we were put in this horrendous state of affairs, we can all make sure it does not happen again. A ‘March to Marxism’ is NOT what the majority of Americans want. The proof came out in the recent election results!!!

I sent a check to Glenn’s people for a t-shirt and they said “We have no way of taking checks.”
HEY GLENN!!! MY MAN! It’s 2010. You know. My bank, your bank. That kind of thing.

This feels like a ‘poetry moment’.
LETTER TO A VOICE FOR AN ENGENDRER OF GOD
I recognize your voice as one of God’s faithful and true. I may only write to you from outside, as I
am indeed, a stranger to you. In this world I greet you, a stranger from humanities wall. I have no
particular status, no academic titles, no honours of distinction, no ritualistic standing at all.
I come to you behind a glorious study of God’s Word; from the stairway to his stage, where his
Eternal Geometry may be heard. I speak to the Measure of God my Creator; from my line of
descent, I speak to his favor. I speak to man’s intellectual, sinful downfall; to man’s nondoctrinal
basis; his broken tripartite behavior. I speak to the “Theory of Relativity” that Albert Einstein so
brilliantly wrote. To the only fallacy within his discovery; he mistook it, for a theory he himself
evoked. Relativity, is a concept. God himself and no other wrote. He merely shared it, with Sir
Einstein, his(God’s) glory to promote. A note from God; a mirror of matter. His creation must
look upon all that shall matter. The matter, God’s will to be done. The theory of matter say’s all
is relative, all things are interwoven, delicately entwined. We are each of us, a whole, a complete
only if in our center a trinity defines. Matter surrounds our being, measured by a constant a
never changing speed of light. We, as all other matter, must recognize our constant, the never
changing degree in our life. Just as in the structure of matter our enduring resolution shall rely
on our choice of outside, a choice our individual soul has been given the duty to decide. Only
God’s Trinity, his Three to One infinity. The save of we, a perpetuation, a hell, an anguish, the
call. May we but see God’s Relativity. The Father, His Spirit, the Son. All written to the manner
of matter, to all that matter. To an Einstein, they came to call. What a joyous discovery.
      God; the Constant of All.

      WORDSWORTH
What of a word absent unheard
from the truths of minds and pens
      tis silence dear friend the
foster of no end dreams lost deturred.
Were it not for the hiss of a brainwaved
kiss to the soul of visions that dare
none could suppose one place beauty
grows nor fathom ideas for share.
Then Godspeed thy phrases flee onward
and free to there-on listeners mend.
But what outward may grow the hope
one may know from language whence
      found within.
