Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee Calls Abortion a ‘Needed Action’ & Refers to Fetal Heartbeats as ‘Sounds’

Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) took to the House floor last week to state her views on the Protect Life Act. Despite her opposition to the anti-abortion bill, it passed in the House of Representatives, with 15 Democrats joining 236 Republicans in supporting it.

The measure amends the Democrats’ health care law (Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act) to prohibit federal monies from being spent on health plans that cover abortion services. Additionally, it protects health care workers who oppose the procedure.

Lee’s comments about abortion during her address were somewhat odd, considering that she referred to the controversial medical procedure as a “needed action.” Additionally, she dubbed the heartbeats of fetuses as mere “sounds.” CNSNews.com has more:

Voicing her opposition to the measure on Thursday, Jackson Lee referenced a previous Texas law, “Just as the courts ruled unconstitutional and upheld the provision of the Texas law that required a doctor to talk first to a woman seeking an abortion and to allow or force them both to listen, uh, to sounds that, uh, might discourage this needed action, this is going to be held unconstitutional. This is not a law that can pass,” Jackson said.

The dismissal of a fetal heartbeat as a “sound” teamed with the insinuation that abortions are “needed” will likely frustrate conservatives, particularly evangelicals and others who oppose abortion for religious reasons.

Back in June, the Blaze reported on Lee’s bizarre comments during Congressional hearings on radical Islam in America. She said, “As we look to be informational, we should include an analysis of how Christian militants or others might bring down the country. We have to look broadly, do we not?”

Her comments this past summer, ironically, were based upon one instance in which an abortion clinic was bombed by a radical opposed to the controversial procedure.

      @ EVIL: would love to know the make up of her district. THEY are the embarrassment. I am close to James Clybourn’s area, and it is very obvious why he gets elected. Very sad.

What a terrible price they will pay one day for promoting and advancing abortion. Just a “sound”, really! Maybe one day her heart will stop and the doctors will do nothing to help her for when they checked her heart they were only listening for a sound, not a heart beat.

      It is not possible to stop her – her district is composed mainly of blacks, and they are psychologically programmed to mindlessly vote democrat, even though it is democrats who want abortions, even though abortions kill mostly black babies, even though democrats have now achieved an unemployment rate among young blacks of nearly 30%, and even though democrats have illiteracy among blacks (who can’t afford private school) of more than 50%. Liberals hate blacks, and they enjoy toying with them like a cat plays with a dying mouse. I swear, I suspect that the CBC and the KKK have backroom agreements.

      Let’s just take a look at what democratic congresses have accomplished for black men:

      25% are in prison, and will never be employed, ever, due to their record
      25% are unemployed
      25% of young black adults are functionally illiterate
      25% are gainfully employed (whew! score one for blacks!)

      Among black women:
      25% are pregnant or with children but have no father figure/husband
      25% are on welfare
      25% are on foodstamps and other assistance besides welfare
      25% are married, have children, and are leading decent christian lives. (yea! score one for black mothers!)

      These numbers are far worse than the 1950′s. Blacks have been driven backwards into a caveman-ish existence. Liberal, Progressives, and Democrats have accomplished this in a mere 50 years.

      And blacks STILL vote democrat. LOL! Here’s a hint why: Chronic pot usage among blacks is more than 50%. Crack usage

NOW I have to say the right should than be PREPARED to fork over the money to support these kids WITHOUT telling the mother what a loser she is..       I have to wonder why then when a person murders a pregnant women that person is charged with the murder of the woman and the unborn child? Seems like someone believes that the fetus heartbeat is more than just a sound. Yo Maxine, you speak without thinking first because those statements make no sense, and only shows your lack of compassion for human rights. And by the way, shouldn’t the father have a say in this decision? It might be the womens body but that fetus didn’t get there on its own. It appears that if the woman chooses to have the child the father has to pay childsupport whether he wants to or not. Either way his decision is irrevelent as far as the law is concerned. And your ideas are irrevelent as far as I am concerned. Can’t there at least be a limit on the number of weeks that an abortion can be done? It should be illegal past a certain time in a pregnancy, but you don’t care do you?

      It is murder from the day of conception forward, and those who commit that murder should in like manner be put to death. Crushing of the fetus early term and tossed away as so much garbage, and crushing of the infants skull late term and thrown away as so much garbage seems to be the executioners preferred tendencies.       Honestly these people…..I’m against abortion but realize we would all be better off if their mothers had gotten one. Even so the mother and the so called doctor would be guilty of innocent blood. We can’t know that someone will grow up to be the next Lenin, Stalin, Hitler, etc.. We can’t go around murdering innocent babies or allow others to do so.       Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee needs to change her name to something more appropriate to her politics. After all, Jackson and Lee are the names of two white former slave owners and distinguished Confederate Generals.

      Neither Jackson or Lee fit her well. She should change her name to something more African/American that’s in line with her politics, like maybe, Obama. Or Id Amin Dada to whom she shows a remarkable resemblance.

      I’m a Texan/American and as such I would like to apologize for Ms. Lee’s rhetorics. She’s a prime example of the truth that not ALL things in Texas are good. Unfortunately her voter base is made up of others like her who think “whitey” or “honkey” should feed, cloth and house them at our expense.

      Her district looks like a survey map of the early ’90s crack wars. The majority of these neighborhoods are populated by the “vunnables” as sheila likes to call them. Starting at the top we have the Greenspoint area which was a nice place 25 years ago. After the ’80s oil crash that neighborhood went south and we started calling it gunspoint. Moving to the northwest side of town you have the pinemont area full of block after block of dilapidated apartments. Moving down to 45 and shepherd we have the acres homes area which is comprised of dilapidated houses. A few years back someone was murdering the local prostitutes and dumping them in ditches, to my knowledge they never caught that guy. Moving east we have the “Northside”, more run down houses and a thriving pharmaceutical industry running all the way down old Hardy road. The big hole in the middle between gunspoint and northside is mostly illegal aliens so that area is part of the hispanic disrtict. Just to the east you come to the famous fifth ward which is home to the 90′s rap group the Ghetto Boyz. They had some really great music based on murder, bad drug deals, ho’s, etc…… Going south from there you come to the 3rd ward, full of more what? Run down dilapidated houses. Moving all the way down you have the northern edge of South park. Home of street thug turned rapper turned inmate serving time for child molestation South Park Mexican.

As a Mom who had one born at 30 weeks, and only went through the Severe bilirubin problem and sleeping disorder (As adult told he has adult form of SIDS) I too know the wonderful miracles of the tiny newborn, ( Though 4lb 2oz seems large compared to some.) May your twins have a healthy baby brother to love, and may we all work to keep the America that God gave us freedom in, that they too, may enjoy it.

      I‘m 26 weeks pregnant right now and there is NO WAY you can convince me that my baby isn’t a living human being. Those “sounds” my husband and I hear whenever we go for an ultrasound are music to our ears. Seeing his little face on the 4D ultrasound was like witnessing a miracle. How heartless can you be to not see, hear, or feel that squirming, kicking little person and not be moved?? I just cannot understand how anyone can deny that an unborn baby is just that: A BABY!

      My wife gave birth to our son prematurely at 26 weeks. He spent 14 weeks in NICU, and the second night he was able to squeeze my finger. Trust me, your unborn baby is a miracle, a blessing, and a human being with great living quarters.

      We have been blessed that he has escaped all of the normal problems with premies born this young (no ROP, respritory, or heart problems); many we got to know during NICU were not so fortunate, yet equally blessed.

      I never thought of them as being a burden or an inconvenience or, worse, a parasite (as some people around here have called the unborn). They are a part of me as much as anything else. Like I said, how heartless do you have to be to think otherwise? I just don’t get it and I never will.

      BTW, I’ll keep you posted when our little man makes his debut! OK, not immediately but after I get back from the hospital, establish baby’s routine, and fully recover from child birth. :)

    Most of us call it a baby and a heartbeat .. and as for “needed action” .. WTF! Most abortions are not performed for a medical reason .. but a lack of responsibility before the pregnancy.

      People who preach messages of deliberate murder such as she does, are honestly consumed by their own hate for life, that I have to wonder if they get the feelings of God-like power and control over the command they have in dictating the directions of life and death?

      I don’t like this kind of talk. Either you are for abortion or against it. If you are against it, then it‘s not something that’s OK for someone you don’t like.

      You should find another way to express yourself than encouraging anyone to think an abortion is OK in some instances, in this case this woman.

    Obviously she was going to say heartbeat, but she quick changed it to sounds because to say heartbeat would be admitting there’s a person in there. And she can’t do that and stick to her pro-murder guns, even though she knows it is a person.
