Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee: Gingrich Is Using Racial ‘Code Words’

Democratic Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee on Friday accused Newt Gingrich of using racial “code words” in calling President Barack Obama the “food stamp president” and saying schools ought to hire children to do janitorial work.
The Texas congresswoman’s comments came in response to a question about remarks she made on the House floor Wednesday, when she said there are “candidates like Newt Gingrich who want to throw fuel and matches and fire to develop sort of an explosiveness in this country” and there are “underlying suggestions” to calling Obama the “food stamp president.”
“These are code words. It’s inappropriate,” Jackson Lee told MSNBC’s Martin Bashir Friday. “Let me say that the code words, as far as I’m concerned words that generate and signify race.”
“[With Gingrich] It is ‘I will use race to divide. I will call the president the food stamp president,’” she said. “Telling us that a janitor who makes $37,000 would be in a better position to give his job up so that the children of the poor in New York…can pick up a broom and work.”
To say children in New York should “pick up a broom and work…is a code word to, if you will, portray poor children and poor school districts that they have seen no one work legitimately,” she said. “That they don‘t have a work ethic and these janitors are overpaid unionized workers who don’t have family and are not making $37,000 a year”
“I think Mr. Gingrich should be ashamed of himself and we should not want to win at any cost. Let’s bring the country together. Let’s not destroy Mr. Obama. Let’s talk about helping the American people,” she said.
Her comments came just days after former President Jimmy Carter made a similar charge against Gingrich as well, saying there’s a “subtlety of racism” to his comments about food stamps and welfare.

Food stamps are a majority WHITE program but Newt singles out blacks specifically because welfare has a “coded” association with African Americans and Reagan’s “welfare queens” that leech off of the system.
He wants you to think that lazy blacks are taking white people’s tax dollars and mooching off of welfare. This is called the “Southern Strategy” of gaining support from white Southerners by framing blacks as lazy, violent, irresponsible, and undeserving of public support.
Of course food stamps has more participation from whites and Latinos than blacks but he singles out blacks to get votes from racist Dixiecrats in the South like South Carolina! People are probably on food stamps out of desperation and a deep recession NOT because they are lazy, but Newt can’t help himself. Divisive racial appeals gets votes.

Whether it is an incredible plot to cover up black inventions, discoveries, accomplishments, etc., or make the point that aids, drugs, and welfare dependency were introduced into black neighborhoods to destroy blacks, or that the levies in N.O. were blown up by whites to drown all the blacks there, or their paranoid belief that naming cakes, like Devil’s Food and Angel Food is racist, as is talking about a black hole in space, their entire basis of thinking clearly indicates intellects that are not only below minimal standards, but also amount to mental disorders that are mostly based in delusions and paranoia.
While the entire world might be discussing a current occurrence, like the Libyan crisis before the fighting escalated, blacks would be talking about something amounting to absolute insignificance and it would involve some imagined racial issue.
According to them, blacks have always been the most successful race in the history of the world but whites are behind every tree 24/7 covering up magnificent black achievements, while at the same time working to keep them down.

I often wondered what it would be like if there were no black people in America. What if it were just whites and hispanics? Go to El Paso and see for yourself. I was there for an entire week and saw one black person there, working the counter at mexican fast food restaurant. The people in the poor neighborhoods dont act like animals, they just dont have as much money as everyone else. I didnt sense any racial tension between the races either. Many of my relatives are married to whites and we dont treat them any differently. It has been my lifes experience that hispanics and whites get along well because we share common value of working hard to get ahead in life.

Under Obama there have been 14.2 million added in three years , or almost 13,000 per day. So figures don’t lie , but liars sure can figure. This same technique when applied to the addition to the Nation’s debt also make good reading.

Oh crap, Shelia is right! Wasn’t Ovaltine(sp) a chocolate drink….oh now I get it, drink is brown-colored and a nerdy white boy is drinking the brown-colored drink.
