Rep. Trey Gowdy Releases Scathing New Vid Blasting Obama’s Use of Executive Privilege

The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee and Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) released a new video Thursday slamming President Obama’s assertion of executive privilege over documents relating to Operation “Fast and Furious” and says the White House “can’t hide behind executive privilege.”
The full House is expected to vote on both criminal and civil contempt resolutions during today’s legislative session.
“The reason we have privileges is to protect the relationships… No privilege is absolute. Every privilege can be defeated, and usually they can be defeated by an indication of criminal conduct,” Gowdy says in the video. “There was a demonstrably false letter sent from the Department of Justice on DOJ letterhead to a United States Senator and therefore to all of Congress. That letter was misleading, deceptive, and provably wrong.”
Gowdy continues, “We are seeking the documents that would help us understand how a letter that materially false could be drafted, approved, delivered to a United States Senator. That’s the information that Congress was seeking. The White House and the Department of Justice are seeking to prevent us from getting that information by asserting that third tier, lowest level, weakest form of executive privilege. Keep in mind, it doesn’t apply when Congress wants the information, and it doesn’t cover up allegations of wrongdoing and misconduct, which is exactly what that February 4th letter was.”

Posted on June 29, 2012 at 12:47pmThe only person here who owes America an apology is the unvetted John Roberts. Thank you GOP and George W. Bush for failing to vet this “sleeper justice” adequately. You have played right into the Democrats grand design for a socialist, Marxist America! The Democrats can officially say the Republicans brought this on themselves. Despicable!

I know the left will never believe any of what he said, but still the people who actually try to understand what is going on and realize that the normal media outlets are just a bunch of LIARS, may learn a thing or two.

Posted on June 28, 2012 at 3:50pmHow can we take “the executive privileges” away from Obama, other then ousting him in November?
Report Post »He’s ruining this country. We’re taxed enough, and the IRS should be deembowled (if my spelling is correct) There should be a small flat tax for everyone, and that’s it. Think of the federal money we could save? Instead of taxing people who are starving and can‘t afford to pay CPA’s to file for them, simply paying a flat tax each year, (just like sales tax) would be much easier. My family is struggling like millions of American’s and we are just saddened that the Supreme Court (who we thought had common sense) has made such a ruling. That’s what we get for allowing Obama to appoint to women. I knew it wasn’t going to be good. One of the justices isn’t even an attorney,so what does she know about the Constitution and the law? That’s about as dumb as allowing women on submarines! Can you say stupid is as Stupid Does? Wrong thins to do, as well as allowing gays in the military. Dang if I want to be in a fox hole with a gay. No way!

Posted on June 28, 2012 at 2:51pmI’m with you. We’ve been hearing about the Contempt of Congress vote for most of June now, and that’s after nearly 18 months of stonewalling. I suppose Issa might be trying to judge the best time for it all to “break open” before the Nov election, but a misjudgement leaves the bad news pouring out AFTER the election when it does NO GOOD. The truth in Sept is more revealing than the truth in Dec, and that’s what the Demoncrats are trying to do. Miss this election, and it doesn’t matter for the next one.
My wife just dug out a scrapbook she made during Watergate, and all the media attacks on Nixon during that time. Nobody died and there wasn’t any international implications to Watergate. Yet the Lame Street Media is extremely silent on Fast and Furious, I guess because it’s their guy in the White House.

Posted on June 28, 2012 at 4:18pmit’s not 18 mos of talk but rather, building a case & following the law. the committee examined Holder re the wiretap apps on June 13th. once again Holder lied in his testimony but the apps proved that high-level members of the DOJ were involved in F&F & Issa & the committee had the evidence they needed. we’re at June 29th. letters have passed back & forth, meetings have been held & the House Oversight committee voted to have Congress vote on the contempt charges & today the house votes on the charge that Holder is in contempt of court. it took 18 months for whistleblowers to give up the apps. once they examined Holder on their evidence (& he sat there looking dumb-founded wondering how the committee got docs they ought not have), 16 days passed before there was a vote in congress to hold Holder in contempt. that’s fast. I’ve spent a lot of time defending white collar criminals & the process of law takes forever. the alternative is to forgo the rule of law & behave as Holder & his cronies have.
“The mill of God grinds slow but grinds exceeding(ly) small”: patience is the only way to build a case that will grind their lies to powder & send them to jail.

Posted on June 28, 2012 at 2:08pmThe video is nearly unwatchable due to the horrendous choice of “background” music, and the exceedingly poor job of mixing.
Report Post »Incidental music should be very low in the mix, especially considering the nature of the material being presented. In fact, no music would have been a far better choice in this case.
Next time, hire a professional (like myself) to do your post. Maybe people will watch the whole thing (I couldn’t).
