Report: Anthony Weiner ‘Seriously Thinking’ About a Run for NYC Mayor

AP
Former Rep. Anthony Weiner, the New York Democrat who resigned in disgrace last year after sending out a sexually suggestive photo on Twitter, is “seriously considering” a run for New York City mayor, according to the New York Post.
Weiner, the Post reported, still has a $4.5 million war chest and wants to run for office again soon before the public match on his campaign funds expire after the 2013 election. His preference would be for mayor though is also open to the post of public advocate, the newspaper said.
“I’ve heard he is seriously thinking about getting into a citywide race in 2013 and would like it to be mayor,” a source with “ties to Weiner” told the Post. “In his mind, he’s trying to figure out how to run for mayor.”
Weiner — married to longtime Secretary of State Hillary Clinton aide Huma Abedin — has apparently reached out to people to “talk about the landscape,” a former staffer said.
One political consultant told the Post they believe a mayoral bid is a long shot for the ex-congressman, but getting elected public advocate might not be so far off the mark.
“The general feeling is that you can’t text pictures of your penis to a girl, then lie about it, then get kicked out of the House and then run for mayor right after,” the consultant said. “But people believe there is a way for him to run for a lesser office.”
Weiner has kept a low profile since his resignation, though turned up in the press last month quoted in the New York Times and was interviewed on the radio about the Supreme Court health care ruling.
As BuzzFeed noted Saturday, Weiner is back on Facebook, having started using “Facebook for iPhone.”

Posted on July 15, 2012 at 1:53pmI know New York is a “cosmoolitan” city. As such, it accepts diversity shunned by other cities. But surely, even New York has some sense of propriety in electing its leaders. If Wiener is acceptable to New Yorkers, how can New York be acceptable to the rest of us? King Bloomberg has been bad enough. But he is just a megalomaniac. Wiener is a pervert of the first order.

Posted on July 15, 2012 at 2:20pmHe has a good chance of winning. Living in NYC, I can attest to how obtuse NYS voters are. Charlie Rangel was re-elected by a landslide despite being censured before congress for tax corruption. Leroy Comrie is perhaps the most over weight congressman in office (D-Queens) and to make himself feel good, introduces and helps pass a bill to regulate McDonalds trans-fats because he could not take self responsibility. Bloomberg is a very condescending man whom would intimidate down a reporter that asks a tough question if he had to. The Cuomo dynasty keeps getting re-elected. Chuck Schumer (Sen-NY) is one of the most devious politicians in D.C. Kirsten Gillibrand (Sen-NY) is his little faithful girl.
Really NY voters and NY politicians are both UNLIKE any other across the nation and unique unto this state border.

If Weiner can 1.) find people to give him money to mount a campaign and 2.) convince enough NYers that they need him, then they are welcome to him; they will have the ‘leader’ they deserve, and I won’t feel at all badly for them.

Listen up Romney, when you get in Office – read our lips! NO BAIL OUT FOR CA and NY. They want what they are about to get and all the bail outs in the World wont change NY Stinkin Thinkin.

I think New Yorkers should elect him and let him finish off the city. Most wealthy and Big Businesses have left for states that have no state income. We are working on it here in Oklahoma. Posted on July 16, 2012 at 9:43pmAcceptable? Why is sitting GOP senator David Vitter, who is catholic and admitted to whoremongering with the girls of ‘washington madam and who asked for forgiveness of his constituents, acceptable to be on the taxpayers’ dole? Why does Sen. McConnell not condemn him and throw him out? Why do the catholic cardinals say nothing, they know what jesus said about whoremongers? Even fox news reporters/anchors have more class/honesty than the cardinals and the other GOP senators: they said vitter should resign or be asked to resign. They do NOTHING. Peolosi asked weiner to resign.
Report Post »Truth is pubs have no morality, are blatant hypocrites, and deserve a representative like vitter because they are no better. They just haven’t gotten caught. Family values? not in the GOP. Vitter is proof positive, as is mc connell and all other senators in the pub caucus. Too bad it’s we taxpayers that have to pay for the immorality, lack of ethical values and put up with all those filthy republicans.

Posted on July 16, 2012 at 10:06pmScandal: Using the services of the “D.C. Madam.”
How he was outed: Phone number found in list of clients
A staunch advocate of conservative platforms from abstinence-only education to a constitutional ban on same-sex marriage, the Republican Louisiana Senator apparently had no problem with high-class call girls, as his phone number was revealed to be on a list belonging to a company owned by the infamous “D.C. Madam.” Larry Flynt‘s Hustler magazine found the phone number and contacted Vitter’s office to inquire about it. The next day, Vitter issued a public apology for his “very serious sin,” and later managed to retain his seat in the Senate.

Posted on July 16, 2012 at 10:11pmSen. David Vitter admitted to being a regular customer of a prostitution service. (An activity that is, incidentally, illegal). Days after his admission he was welcomed back with open arms by the Republican party.
Thus far, the Republican leadership has not been pressed to explain the blatant hypocrisy of their divergent reactions to the two scandals. Last night, Fox News host Bill O’Reilly weighed in. His message was simple: “I don’t think Vitter should be there. Absolutely not.” Watch it:
We still haven’t heard anything from Sen. Mitch McConnell, Speaker John Boehner, RNC chair Reince Preibus, or any other member of the GOP leadership.
Remember, folks, sending a pic of your junk on your phone is tastefree, but not illegal. What GOP senator david vitter did, whoremongering, IS ILLEGAL, AGAINST THE LAW, HE SHOULD BE IN JAIL, NOT IN THE SENATE. Don’t forget former sen ensign, pub of nevada, resigned because he got caught paying off his girlfriend, pub congressman mark foley resigned after emailing senate pages, etc.
pubs have no morals, these are just the ones who got caught.
