Report: Anthony Weiner Used $13,000 in Campaign Cash to Hire Private Investigators During Scandal

Former Rep. Anthony Weiner reportedly used more than $13,000 in campaign funds to hire private investigators last summer. (AP)

Disgraced former Rep. Anthony Weiner used more than $13,000 in campaign funds to hire private investigators to probe the so-called “hacking” of his Twitter account — despite later taking responsibility for the leaked photos that led to his resignation from Congress.

Weiner paid T&M Protective Services of Manhattan $13,290 for “legal services” in the fourth quarter of 2011, Federal Election Commission financial disclosures filed Tuesday show.

But according to the New York Daily News, Weiner really hired the firm to do investigative work in the thick of the scandal last summer.

Sources told the newspaper Weiner told investigators his Twitter account was hacked. The firm, which employs former NYPD detectives, investigated and discovered no such hacking had occurred.

Weiner initially maintained his innocence and said he was not responsible for the photos and flirtatious messages sent to a string of female fans. He eventually revealed he was responsible for the content and stepped down from his congressional seat in June.

He’s a dirty little Weiner. Go get him. Remember, this guy was one of the meanest, most vicious, crazed politicians in Washington D.C. The only one who could give him a serious run for the money on that score would be Debbie Wasserman Schultz. I think it’s a tie.

Come on folks this in the past – what is done is done. The man is unemployed and no one will hire him – he would have to pay this out of his wifes paycheck. That campaign money is all he has to spend unless he begs her and she needs hher paycheck forn the baby.

A little jail time would be appropriate. Say, 25 to life.
All socialists should get at least that.
Deportation could follow after the time is served or deportation in lieu of the -federal- prison sentence.

I wonder how long it will take the public to forget / forgive this guy ? Considering his wife is one of Hillary Clinton’s closest assistants, he‘s staying close to political power He’ll probably be running for office again sometime. Even worse, he could run for office with Eric Holder…… Weiner/Holder 2020 (nausea)

I’m almost 60 and that statement just does not fit with history. Weiner is about the only Democrat who resigned for getting his weiner caught in his zipper. Vitter is something of a Republican anomaly. As far as I am concerned get rid of any of them that get themselves caught up in such scandals.
