Report Claims Video Shows Dem Rep. Conyers Reading Playboy on Plane

An article on the site TheMichiganView.com says video posted on YouTube shows Rep. John Conyers (D-MI) reading the porn magazine “Playboy” while on a coach flight to Washington in July.

From the article: (titled “Mr. Smut Goes to Washington”):

The video and pictures – first posted by ex-Detroit News reporter and New York Times Pulitzer Prize winner Charlie LeDuff on his Facebook page – were taken by an anonymous passenger seated two seats from Conyers … . Conyers – in his aisle seat – is shown flipping though pages showing two nude gal pals in the August issue of Playboy. And he also apparently reads Hefner’s product for the articles. The pages he lingers on appear to feature an article entitled “La Chatte” by Maureen Gibbon, on article exploring lesbian sex.

The video, below, is not clear, but the word “Playboy” seems to be visible on one of the pages. CONTENT WARNING: While the video is not high resolution, one may be able to make out parts of a nude woman:

Maybe if the health care bill had pictures of naked women after each paragraph Rep Conyers would have had more incentive to read it!

Living in a free country (ha!) means that you’re allowed to read what you wish to read. We have more important matters at hand right now folks, than some guy reading a girlie magazine. Our nation is nearly in flames, I don’t have time to care about some guy reading a playboy.

Yes,he is free to look at what he wants, but just because you can, doesn’t mean you should. Especially on a crowded air plane. And if The Blaze informs me about something that reveals a persons (elected official) moral character, then yes, I do want them to report it. The man should have known better.

Ghost, it’s not about his right to read the magazine, it is the appropriateness of doing so. If I was sitting next to him it certainly would make me feel uncomfortable. His decision to read that on a plane makes me question his lack of judgment which I think is a problem with most of our congressional leaders. There is this mindset of thinking only of yourself instead of others – Conyers was only thinking of his right to read the magazine and not how it might impact those around him.

Wait a second, I am a Christian and I detest pornography but…Why is this even news? Come on Blaze, for real? The dude read a playboy! Ooooh! Stop the freakin’ press!

I don‘t give a rat’s you know what if my elected official looks at a playboy. I do not care if Obama has a 20 year collection of hustler. The only impact that has on me whatsoever is if they claimed to be a Christian, then I would feel bad for them having to deal with their sin. If they do not believe it is sin? Then they certainly have the right to it. More power to them!

Come on Blaze, the whole bloody world is coming apart at the seams and this is what you are wasting bandwidth on?

So what’s the big deal? He’s an adult male reading something available at nearly any store that carries magazines. One has to be pretty prudish to consider Playboy to be porn. It’s not like he was holding a copy of something with a title on the order of Teen Babes In Bondage in one hand while masturbating with the other.

Isn’t this the same Congressman who said something like…”who cares if you read it (the health care bill) when it’s 2,000 pages and you need a team of lawyers to tell you what it means”. Well, it would appear he finally found his proper level of literary comprehension.

Nudity is not “porn”. Many classical artists painted nude women. The Blaze is becoming an online version of The National Enquirer with articles like this and the revolution fear mongering. I guess I was naive believing it would be an unbiased news site. I suppose I will simply treat it as entertainment vs real analysis of actual events.
