Report: EU School Calendars Scrub Christian Holidays, Keep Muslim Ones

A new 2011-2012 school calendar for children published by a branch of the European Union has omitted references to Christian holidays but has kept its references to prominent Jewish, Hindu, and even Muslims holidays, according to a Catholic news outlet.
Catholic News Agency (CNA) reports the European Commission printed three million school diaries, which include the calendars, that it hands out free of charge to students who request them. But missing from all the copies were any references to sacred Christian holidays.
CNA quoted former French politician and government minister Christine Boutin, who said that while Christian holidays such as Christmas and Easter are missing from the diary’s pages, days commemorating “Sikh Baisakhi-Day, the Jewish Yom Kippur holiday, the Muslim holiday Aid-el-Kebir,” remain.
The omissions have drawn the ire of the Christian Democratic Party in France. The group is circulating an online petition to have the Christian holidays reinstated.
The petition asks, “Why is this omission unacceptable?” and then outlines three reasons:
- The role of Christianity in the European contruction is an undeniable and historical fact. How can this diary pretend to inform teenagers about the EU, removing all references to christianism, negating a religion that contributed so much to its construction and unity ?
- Christianity is the first religion in Europe. This oversight offends many people. The denial of something so important for them, the oversight of the values and beliefs they share, is intolerable.
- Christianity is not only a religious factor, but also a cultural and founder factor of the history and identity of many European Nation’s [sic]. Christian holidays, in particular Christmas and Easter, absent in this diary, are celebrated through all Europe by many persons, even non Christians.

UPDATE:
The EU is calling the omissions an accidental error. The European Commission issued an explanation saying,
“At the bottom of each page of this ‘class journal’ are small quotes or information devoted to various subjects and perhaps less known to European students. Some of them sometimes refer to cultural events, historical and religious…This approach led, without any deliberate intent, in the absence of references to events and important religious festivals that are very much a part of European heritage, particularly…Christmas and its importance in the Christian religion.”
They claim that Christian holidays will be put back on the calendar for future printings.

Christmas and Easter are by far and away the most important holidays any Christian’s calendar. They honor the birth and death of our Savior, the Son of the Living God. Unlike Mohammad, a mere prophet of Islam, Jesus Christ is deity.

Once dead, the muslims will turn on the atheists in a heartbeat – again either death or conversion. Remember the enemy of my enemy is my friend (as long as he is useful). You’re probably right. But what strikes me about it is that they removed Christian holidays from the calendar while keeping the Muslim ones — why? If you‘re going to remove references to one religion’s holidays, shouldn‘t you remove references to all religions’ holidays? That would only be fair, right?
But what they have done instead implies a tacet endorsement of Islam, Hinduism (a religion with no historical connection to Europe, though there are significant Hindu immigrant populations in Britain especially), and Judaism over Christianity — again, why? Puzzling. But then I guess it’s not really, Europe has sold out to multi-culturalism; hopefully they will wake up and be proud Westerners again before it is too late.

Did you know that a segment of our founding fathers did not celebrate Christmas, have crosses in their meeting halls, no statues or idols of any kind and no altars or vestments? They were called Puritans and this is why they left England right before the start of the English Civil War which led to the execution of King Charles I. The Anglicans of Jamestown did celebrate holidays, had crosses in churches and created Thanksgiving, something the Puritans would not have “celebrated” as a holiday.

The Christian faith has to go before they can fully impliment their Godless agenda. When I was in High School in the mid 60s the Bible Club had 5 to 10 times more members than any other club on campus. You know the progressives couldn’t let that stand. In elementary school we had an actual Bible teacher. Wow, can you imagine all the law suits that would cause today. The only thing was, we didn’t need security of any kind in our schools….God was with us then. Now He isn’t allowed in our schools and violence runs rampant.

I’m not sure why Jewish and Hindu holidays get a pass, though, except that they aren’t Christian and all things Christian have to be scrubbed from existence to make liberals happy. Because most Americans now are more interested in our own private lives , we are not paying attention to what is going on around us. We expect our government to protect our rights…. but this is a big mistake. TO MANY CHRISTIANS and they have LOUD MOUTHS.. they didn‘t get their way in Italy and they won’t here.. we even have a moment of silence in some of our schools.. we have to keep fighting.. and shutting down ANY dialogue that tries to change it.. All but 1 store said MERRY CHRISTMAS this year and I complained to the one who didn’t.. Every bell ringer said the same which is a good thing because if they hadn’t I would have NOT given them a dime.. I don’t even take a happy holidays for NEW YEARS.. I want to hear HAPPY NEW YEARS.. nothing else.. we have to make them SAY the name of every holiday that is traditionally CHRISTIAN and AMERICAN.. IF they don’t like it they can leave..

It’s the only widespread principle-based orthodoxy that stands in the way of secular progressive consolidation. Also key to that is the toppling of classic Judeo-Christian American democracy. They are doing a pretty good job of it so far. As Islam is a minority in the west, the sops to it are simply measures to use it as a vocal, violent disruptive force against western capitalism.

The post-modern cultures of the world with their self-proclaimed civilized great philosophy…“tolerance” will see to it that any ideal that challenges their self justifying behaviors and politics is removed from every vestige of public society. Particularly one that upholds the individual and preaches a standard and loyalty to someone greater and higher than the state. That makes it a whole lot easier to indoctrinate the fertile mind of the younger generations and therefore easier to herd in whatever direction desired….Don’t believe me then look to any and I repeat any socialistic style government or dictatorship and see for yourself. They must gain the minds of the younger generation if they are to succeed in their agenda. Funny, isn’t it how in the name of “tolerance” the minority views rule over the majority in many instances and intolerance for any other view is obvious. Tolerance really means this……the views of the few take precedence over the views of the majority because, “as we all well know”, the majority got to be the majority by abusing and victimizing the minority. This is their great flaw in reasoning, they assume all minorities are victims of some sort and its their job to dispense their form of social justice, which is no real justice at all……. it’s just another form of OPPRESSION and TYRANNY !!!!!

It was one of the main reasons that they left Europe. They felt that the Anglican Church was becoming less godly and was returning to traditions of Catholicism (or popery) under the leadership of William Laud, Archbishop of Canterbury. For his efforts, William Laud was rewarded by the Puritans of England with a corner suite in the Tower of London. The Anglicans of the Jamestown Plantation celebrated holidays, so if you are a “TRUE AMERICAN” then which side are you on? It’s not as simple as I once thought.

In a Democracy numbers are everything this should be frightening to anyone who thinks that mass importing foreign nationals and also allowing their children to become Americans is a good idea. No, they will turn America into their home country. You can have any references to Christ anymore because it supposedly offends but everyone else can use their religious holidays and be proud of their culture! When will the time come that we are offended for the discrimination against our culture!

Muslims are not, therefore this is more about an attack against not only Christianity in Europe but by those who adopted for their cultural identity and happen to be White. Many struggles in the world still are based on race. This is why many policies are put into action in this country and the history is being reshaped with the agenda of guilt tripping White Americans for past abuses of power to cause them to be beat down and not participate in continuing to shape this country. A Spanish columnist wrote a very good article on this whole shift in Europe demographics and based this shift on guilt of White Europeans.

As a Catholic I am offended every time a store clerk says “Happy Holidays” instead of Merry Christmas when ther reason the stores are making their end-of-the-year windfall is due to CHRISTMAS–a Christian hoiliday. I am offended when Christmas trees are not allowed on public property, but other religions symbols are allowed or placed alongside the Christmas tree. I am offended when Good Friday is not a day off from school but days off are scheduled on other religion’s holidays. If all the Christians decide to have a one year boycott on all purchase related to Christmas, Wal Mart and every other store chain would be out of business. It si time we stood up for ourselves. If the athiests, Muslims and others don’t like it–too bad. Its time we start the in-your-face tactics applied by these minority groups.

They were indoctrinated by left wingers when they were in school. I look at the people in San Diego trying to take down the cross on Mt Solidad. These people have been quoted as saying “ I don’t take Christianity seriously, I put it on the level of ancient Hawaiian religions” If they see Christianity on that level then why does our faith enrage them so.
