A 29-year-old Moroccan man was arrested near the U.S. Capitol Friday as he was planning to carry out a would-be suicide mission, authorities said. (AP)
A 29-year-old Moroccan man was arrested Friday near the U.S. Capitol as he was planning to detonate what he thought was an explosives vest as part of a would-be suicide mission, police and government authorities said.
Amine El Khalifi of Alexandria, Va., was taken into custody with an inoperable gun and inert explosives given to him by undercover FBI agents as part of a long-running sting operation, the Associated Press reported:
El Khalifi expressed interest in killing at least 30 people and considered targeting a building in Alexandria and a restaurant, synagogue and a place where military personnel gather in Washington before he settled on the Capitol after canvassing that area a couple of times, the counterterrorism official said. During the investigation, the official said, El Khalifi went with undercover operatives to a quarry in the Washington area to detonate explosives.
El Khalifi came to the U.S. when he was 16 years old and is unemployed and not believed to be associated with al-Qaida. He had been under investigation for about a year and had overstayed his visitor visa for years, according to the counterterrorism official and a government official briefed on the matter who spoke on a condition of anonymity because the investigation is ongoing.
According to Fox News, El Khalifi thought the undercover FBI agents assisting him were Al Qaida associates. He had been praying at a mosque in the Washington area prior to being arrested.
According to CNN, the man was arrested as soon as he accepted the vest from undercover officers as part of a sting operation. A federal law enforcement official said the operation had been going at least since December and that the man is not connected to a terrorist organization.
Washington NBC affiliate WRC-TV reported FBI officials believe at this point the man was acting alone.

Posted on February 17, 2012 at 2:55pmCome on. Obama’s FBI infiltrates mosques on a regular basis. They won’t admit it is a vital element of their domestic contingency operation, because it would throw Hussein’s “lone wolves” claim out the window.
Do we have undercover agents monitoring our churches too? Nope. The FBI knows it would be a waste of time. If Christianity, not Islam, was the terrorist pseudo-religion, Barack Hussein would have already shipped us off to Gitmo, to rot in his tropical version of the gulags (instead of the paradise on earth Club Gitmo has become under his watch).
“The man is 30, of Moroccan descent, on a would-be suicide mission,” yadda, yadda, yadda.
Key words media left out: “MUSLIM,“ ”jihadist,“ ”you bet he was effin dangerous.”

Report Post »Sounds like you long for the day, almost a dozen Septembers ago, when we didn’t apprehend terrorists before they committed mass murder. The day our Commander-in-Chief ignored intelligence suggesting Bin Ladin would attack in the U.S. using airliners. Perhaps you miss the good ol‘ days when our President stated he wasn’t concerned about finding Bin Ladin, or the day he, while being videotaped, mocked our efforts in two warzones by “searching” for Bin Ladin in our Oval Office. I was deployed in Afghanistan when our President said and did those things, and I am sickened when people defend President Bush’s conduct concerning confronting terrorists yet ridicule any victory against terrorists during the current administration including the aprehension and termination of Osama Bin Ladin. Your hatred of this President far outshines your love of country.

Posted on February 17, 2012 at 6:42pmAnyone dumb enough to not understand that the CIA and FBI have men inside the Muslim community to provoke idiots and the slightly mentally disabled into doing stupid things is a moron. What happens when a person is fed up with the gov’t? They get angry. What do they do with that anger? Usually, they either accept the FACT that our gov’t is a duopoly of continual suck, or they try to change it. If you cannot vote and your only recourse is to stew in your madness, then the gov’t sends a guy to your door claiming to have a suicide bomb jacket and a gun, all the while saying that you will go to heaven and get umpteen virgins to do with as you please…… What would you do?
We should definitely keep an eye on terrorist activities, but we should not be interacting with these people like this. And by NO MEANS should we ever supply them with weaponry, real or fake. Are you listening Eric? Remember the guns you sold to Mexican terrorists?

“…He had been under investigation for about a year and had overstayed his visitor visa for years, according to the counterterrorism official and a government official …”
If the facts are true, and why should we doubt their own confessions, this man should have been deported long before he could have been set up by the feds in their never-ending efforts to strike fear into the hearts of the sheeple.
There’s nothing wrong with laying the blame where it belongs, RavenGlenn. The man was purposely alowed to stay in the country in order to allow an artificial, and therefore ‘red flag’, alert aimed at making the feebs look good to justify their jobs. Jobs, which, by the way, are nothing more than government plots to create angst and fear in the hearts and minds of the plebian mass.

Suuure. But the enlightened few are saved. They are no longer deceived by the never-ending lies the gubbermint, whether Bush or Obama — no matter, it’s the same rotten family tree — brainwashes us with; no longer fooled by the so-called right-wing vs. left-wing conspiracies — no matter, it’s the same rotten viper’s nest – both of which accuse those nice gentlemen in the ME of trying to kill us, when they themselves are killing machines.
But be not dismayed, messiah has come. He talks like a politician, he acts like a politician (heck, he IS a politician, but that’s beside the point, thus the parenthetical enclosure), he calls for revolution like a politician- uh, no, wait… that’s wrong. He calls for revolution like that commie Van Jones. And like Van Jones, he openly targets the youthful idiots, knowing full well that young minds get a weed-like rush when their rebellious nature is stuffed with commie-anarchic demagoguery.
I certainly would not want to be you when the day of reckoning comes and, thinking yourself a patriot, you discover you walked like a traitor, and talked like a traitor. You know the rest of the duck saying.

Posted on February 17, 2012 at 9:30pm@ Marine 25, I am not naive. I am truthful. We should not have FBI or CIA agents (or anyone for that matter) trying to convince people to plan and take part in potentially life threatening acts. That is shear and utter ignorance that you, a Marine (unless your name just suggests you like the aquatic environment), would think that provoking people to mass murder is somehow decent or right.
I really get it that you hate muslims. Personally, I joined the Corps in 2004 and I wanted to go to war with the nation that killed over 4,000 of my countrymen on that September day while I was in my morning band class. However, you need to come to the realization that our government had played a role in the establishment and organization of these terrorist groups and that we suffered from blow back. No country attacked us. The men who attack this nation on September 11 died immediately upon committing their sins.
Also, while they may have received money from other nations, the US was among those nations. For more than a decade, we supported the Mujahideen (literally translates to mean those who commit jihad) and we have had back door dealings with the middle east for more than a century. I‘m sure that you are aware of the line in the Marines’ Hymn that goes “From the halls of Montezuma, to the shores of Tripoli”. And you probably heard the story in boot camp in your esprit de Corps classes. We have had our hands in overturning middle eastern governments for far too long.

I wonder if it is because the radical Muslims believe that it is their duty to Allah to kill any who disagree with their beliefs, including the moderate and liberal Muslims. I don’t know any radical Christians who are willing to kill the moderate and liberal Christians because of their religious beliefs. Many look at the struggle in Ireland and claim it is religious. It was not a religious war, it was a political struggle for independance against an invader. Religion was a remote side issue. The invaders happened to be Protestants and the natives happened to be Catholic. A few used religion to justify the invation.

We all know that Al Qaida is not a terrorist group, since there is no such thing as a radical Islamist terrorist.
The Catholic church teaches about the sanctity of life, the Islamists preach destruction. And Christians are on the FBI watch list???

your point is? I am sure the Mr Santorum has a few terrorist wannabe’s supporting him. Anyone who votes against the constitution is a terrorist. I guess that makes you one. You are actively participating in the destruction of America by voting for individuals that think the government should have a say in your personal business. People like you are worse than Obama, at least he was up front about his distaste for America and it’s freedom.

Posted on February 17, 2012 at 3:29pmRon Paul is the second best-known of our homegrown propagandists for our chief enemies in the world (Obama being number 1). Ron Paul has made himself a leading spokesman for, and recycler of, the long and familiar litany of charges that point to the United States as a leading agent of evil and injustice, the militarist victimizer of millions who want only to live in peace.
The world may not be ready for another American president apologizing for the misdeeds of the nation he had just been elected to lead. Still, it would be hard to find any public figure in America whose views more closely echo president Obama.
It’s the voice of that ideological school whose central doctrine is the proposition that the U.S. is the main cause of misery and terror in the world. The school, for instance, of Barack Obama’s former minister famed for his “God d— America” sermons… the Rearend. Jeremiah Wright, for whom, as for Paul, the 9/11 terror assault was only a case of victims seeking justice, of “America’s chickens coming home to roost.”
Ron Paul knows “chickens coming home to roost,” as he used that term previously in regards to Ronald Reagan and his policies.

Posted on February 17, 2012 at 3:30pmMaybe Ron will get the Jihadi vote. Now if he can secure the mexican drug cartel vote he will win for sure. Fact is Ron Paul say‘s it is Congress’s job to declare war, which it is. So if they want to go to war, Ron Paul as President, would be able to do nothing about, as per the constitution. The way they have been doing it is illegal, and allows the congress to shirk their duty. It allows them deniability if it doesn’t go according to plan, as seen in Iraq. Ron Paul is correct and you are not. Doesn’t matter who is supporting him, unless the Ayatollah of Iran is sending him money, then you may have an argument

Posted on February 17, 2012 at 3:55pmAre they sending him money? Or do they just like the fact that he doesn’t want to kill them all. People are mostly the same around the world. They want to live their lives in safety, with all the freedom they believe in. Of course they would like someone who doesn’t want to destroy them or their country. Would you not support a candidate for the Iranian presidency that wanted peace with Israel and the west? While Some of Ron Paul’s opinions on the nature of Islamic hatred of America are a bit simplistic, they are not all together wrong. Blowback is a piece of the equation, but not the whole story.

Posted on February 17, 2012 at 4:20pmSorry HIDDEN. Don’t subscribe to your Ron Paul spin. And you’re right… he’s too simplistic. That’s because he has absolutely no platform beyond some smaller Gub/ment ideas. He’s not cut out to be a world leader in this day and age… just a mid-level manager with LOTS of supervision.

Report Post »Actually, that was my own spin. None of the Candidates are Big league world leader types. We don’t need a World leader, Just an American one. IF we can’t get our own yard picked up, we will never be able to clean the neighborhood. Good luck on your candidate, I already know mine won’t get the nomination. Just keep in mInd this prediction, Santorum will get crushed by Obama, Romney has a chance but I hate him just the same. Wouldn’t it be interesting though if the nominee were to pick Ron Paul as running mate? That would open some can of worms, eh?
