Report: Fox‘s Roger Ailes Says Jon Stewart Basically Admitted to Him That He’s a Socialist

While no video has yet emerged of the newsworthy event, Fox News Chairman Roger Ailes gave a speech Monday night at Ohio University that has many in the media talking.
Interestingly, one of the only sources of information from the speech has been media lawyer and Harvard Law and Policy Review blogger Jonathan Peters, who live-tweeted the event.
Of all the tweets, one of the most interesting is this: “Ailes: Jon Stewart is a comedian. He wouldn’t do well without Fox. And he basically has admitted to me, in a bar, that he’s a socialist.” [Emphasis added]
Other memorable tweets included:
“Ailes: The New York Times is a [cesspool] of bias”
“Ailes: MSNBC is out of the news business. Brian Williams, a sincere newsman, wouldn’t want to be caught dead over there”
“Ailes: Media Matters writes all of the primetime programming for MSNBC. All of it. That’s what a recently published book says.”
“Ailes: One thing that qualifies me to run a journalism organization is that I don’t have a journalism degree.”
Ailes hasn’t been secretive about his feeling towards Jon Stewart, once saying: “He hates conservative thoughts. He hates conservative verbiage. He hates conservatives…he’s crazy. If it wasn’t polarized, he couldn’t make a living. He makes a living by attacking conservatives and stirring up a liberal base against it.”
But the “socialist” allegation is one that Stewart has long danced around– more often than not, ridiculing people who refer to Obama and leading democrats as socialists.
Take this clip from The Daily Show, titled “Obama’s Socialist Christmas Ornament Program,” for instance:
While Ailes has seemingly backtracked on his insults of the New York Times, neither he nor Stewart have issued further statements on the matter.
In all odds, however, look forward to a well-formulated response on tonight’s “Daily Show.”

“KING: I think you’re a Democrat, Jon.
STEWART: I think that’s probably correct. I think I would say I’m more of a socialist or an independent but, yes, I mean, no one would ever I think watching our show think that, boy, that guy is just leaning so far right.”

GOD created us to be INDIVIDUALS . NO TWO PEOPLE are alike. It’s fine to insist upon equal opportunities for everyone…B U T W E C A N N O T M A K E P E O P L E EQUAL !!!!
Consider this: The Poor in America will probably be the middle class or upper middle class, millionaires and billionaires of tomorrow IF WE GET THE BLOODY GOVT LIBERALS out of the way.
There are times when we have to struggle, when we have to ‘learn the hard way’ , when we need to depend upon ourselves and not a hand out or easy credit….I think we’ve seen what that mess caused us. Barney Frank can die knowing that HE was the cause of a WORLD WIDE ECONOMIC MELTDOWN, that he cause millions of people to lose their jobs. HE didn’t start out to do this, of course, but this is what happens when SOCIALISM takes hold. Now Obama probably would like to see the USA gutted so his pal Soros can buy everything for 10 cents on the dollar…but I don’t think Frank started out to do this.
We all need to get busy and get our HOUSE (and SENATE) in order !

Posted on May 22, 2012 at 4:31pmI hate to break it you anti-socialists, but the US is a mixed economy and has been for well over half a century. You have Social Security and Medicare for your aged, welfare and food-stamps for the poor and unemployed. The only big difference between the US and France, Canada or Germany is your wasteful and inefficient healthcare system.
Anyone who supports Medicare and Social Security, which I would guess is well over 50% of Americans is technically a socialist.

Posted on May 22, 2012 at 6:56pmIn a way you are correct Goose, America has its fair share of collectivist and looters i.e Obama and Romney supporters, but you have to take not of one crucial difference between America and the rest of the world and that is America is the ONLY country that has a segment of society “granted a minority” that turns to Free Markets and Individual Liberty as a solution to the failed statist policies. We are the only country willing to recognize the problems of a centrally planned economy and support Dr. Paul and the Tea Party movement. Like I said we may currently be a minority but as the situation worsens you will see more Americans sober up and face the facts, and that my commie Canadian friend is why America is Exceptional.

I have been unfortunate enough to have had the need to experience your socialized health care system personally. And because of that experience, I will never voluntarily cross that border again.
The only good thing I can say about it, was that it was free. And that brought a whole new meaning to the old saying…………“You get what you pay for”
I most probably could have had a better experience in Cuba.
Other than that, you have a beautiful country.

However speaking from my experience my mother has had colon cancer, thyroid cancer, and breast cancer all in the last ten years, she’s currently cancer free. Last summer she suffered a heart attack at our family cottage which is on an island in lake Simcoe. The system not only mobilized to transport quickly her to the nearest hospital, but she is perfectly fine today.

I wish to G_d I was actually lying, what kind of a person would lie about their own mother’s health problems. I guess you don’t think too much of me as a human being just because I don’t agree with your politics, I think that says a lot more about you than me.
By the way my grandmother survived breast cancer and ultimately passed away from pancreatic cancer at age 86. My grandfather survived lung cancer and died from bowel disease at age 87. Unfortunately my family has been a big consumer of Canadian healthcare.
As far as your link to this two bit James O’Keefe wannabe propagandist, all I can say is at least Mr. O’keefe put on a pimp costume, this guy is a pimp for the right wing trying to come across as an unbiased reporter.
One thing you need to understand about the Canadian system, although it is a single payer system, it is under provincial jurisdiction, so in fact there are 10 single payers and they are not all the same.
This jerk in the video filmed in Quebec which is very different than Ontario, Alberta, or British Columbia. Say what you will about our healthcare system, but every time you have this charity group set up free healthcare clinics in the US sports stadiums and thousands of poor people line up and receive badly needed care. If you did the same thing in Canada no one would

I would not even be surprised if you are not Canadian, and are just pretending to be one so as to give the impression that you are an impartial, outside observer of our nation and it’s politics.
And if you can not see the difference between my vague reference to my experience with your so called health care system, and your detail rich explanations which are used to garner sympathy from the readers, well I can’t help you there.
You can deflect all you want with your claims that Quebec is different from the rest of Canada, but I will add one more detail for you about my experience. It was in the capital city of one of your western provinces.

You guys can not do health care right, and you only have a population of about 34 million, (In all of Canada).
Try 312 million and see how that works for ya.
Report Post »Canada_Goose
Posted on May 24, 2012 at 12:27amWhat does total US population have to do with it. Healthcare is under state control except for Medicare. Retired people are actually not the issue, they’re relatively well taken care of, it’s your uninsured and those who are just not poor enough to be eligible for Medicaid.
About 20 years ago a conservative think tank (Heritage Foundation) and some GOP senators and congressmen (Dole & Gingrich) had a brilliant idea, why not require everyone to have health insurance. What could be more pro self reliance, personal responsibility, and rugged individualism than that? They argued for this, but it did not get anywhere until Mr. Obama essentially proposed the same thing and everyone thinks it’s socialist.
Obviously you’ve never actually met a real communist. I’d tell you that my family actually escaped from communism back in 1975, but you probably wouldn’t believe me.
PS Unlike your brilliant friend in the video, Canadians (even form Quebec) actually call ahead to see if a clinic is open on a Sunday before driving over.

Now, back to that point I mentioned that you missed…………ready?
HERE IN THE USA, YOU WILL FIND THAT THERE ARE CLINICS EVERYWHERE THAT ARE ACTUALLY OPEN SEVEN DAYS A WEEK………AND MANY ARE EVEN OPEN 24 HOURS !!!!!!
Isn’t it amazing what free people, in a capitalistic society will do when they discover that profits can be made by catering to the needs of the citizenry?
Imagine that? A medical clinic that is open 24/7…….Whoda thunkit? Not Canadians it seems.

Posted on May 22, 2012 at 4:46pm@Socialismcrocks…..Socialism is the Big Lie of the twentieth century. While it promised prosperity, equality, and security, it delivered poverty, misery, and tyranny. Equality was achieved only in the sense that everyone was equal in his or her misery.
In the same way that a Ponzi scheme or chain letter initially succeeds but eventually collapses, socialism may show early signs of success. But any accomplishments quickly fade as the fundamental deficiencies of central planning emerge. It is the initial illusion of success that gives government intervention its pernicious, seductive appeal. In the long run, socialism has always proven to be a formula for tyranny and misery.
You always show up and defend socialism…you are a broken record of ‘rally slogans’ and ‘bumper sticker’ logic…wake up man and read a history book..not an OWS cardboard sign.

Posted on May 22, 2012 at 4:01pmOf the 620 bills sponsored by Ron Paul during his long career in the House of Representatives, only four have ever made it to a vote on the House floor and only one of those became an actual law. An analysis by The Washington Post shows that Paul’s success rate of 0.2 percent falls far below that of most legislators, as Paul has chosen to stand up for his personal crusades, rather that build coalitions for more popular, but less ambitious, proposals.
Paul, who has served 11 terms in three different stages dating back to 1976, didn’t get a single law passed until 2009, when he authored a bill that allowed for the sale of a customs house in Galveston, Texas. Failure is often the norm in Congress, where only 4 percent of proposed bills get a President’s signature, but Paul’s approach to lawmaking is particularly suited to not getting things done.
We can probably expect a Paul administration to attempt very little and accomplish even less.
Just keep these facts in mind when thinking about Ron Paul…education is a good thing.

Posted on May 22, 2012 at 5:05pm@FROM SEA…I did not disparage Ron Paul..thats his record, he owns it..its his life story…make of it what you will…as far as FEMA camps, not going to happen to me at least…We don‘t necessarily ’need’ the Government to do anything…except restore us to fiscal sanity..Paul would be great as Sec of Treasury..thats it..he hasn’t accomplished anything… his record is sparkling when it comes to inactivity…Are there Const. Traitors, of course there are, both parties are guilty of that basic observation…We, The People need elected people to DO THE RIGHT THING Constitutionally, and hold them to it…..of course thats a no brainer folks.

Posted on May 22, 2012 at 5:11pm@Mutiny…I know all about his bills..no need to bring up that basic stuff…The fact is he doesn’t have the backbone or the ability to GET THINGS DONE and have people rally around him to do the right thing…that is the hallmark of a great effective leader…to not have people follow your lead is a failure of leadership, regardless of how good your intentions are…That is the definition of a leader, the road to hell is paved with good intentions, or in Pauls case, the road to inactivity and failed bills is his legacy…good initiative, poor execution…remember our Government is made up of checks and balances regarding power and delegation of said power..that is management 101. The Govt is more than just 1 person.

Posted on May 22, 2012 at 5:17pm@FROM SEA…return my liberty with an executive order??..just like that, one signature, one exec order and *poof* my liberty restored…take a 9th grade civics class and then think about what you wrote…it would take more than an exec order for that….Exec orders, to me, border on a dictatorship…you must agree with that.

I am betting you know nothing of the bills. Had you looked into them you would realize his bills were good bills. The reason they dont leave committee is because there is a desperate call for the status quo. You are a status quo guy, I am not. You think 16 trillion in debt is ok. I dont. You think being the policemen of the world is ok. I dont. You think giving up your freedom for safety is ok. I dont. You think gun control laws keep you safe. I think they make me less safe.
If you didnt think those things you would be supporting Ron Paul.

Posted on May 22, 2012 at 5:38pm@Mutiny…if you think any of what you wrote pertains to me, you obviously have not read any of my posts or the ones I posted in this thread…..you need to take the time and educate yourself on HOW Government works…making vague statements about me being a status quo guy is laughable… I served 20 Years in the USMC, so I think I know a little about ‘being the worlds policeman’….You basically are trying to paint me as liberal by quasi name calling me out on issues I abhor….Did you not hear me say Paul would make a great Sec of Treasury?…did you not understand my satements on leadership?…If you did not, you need to take reading comprehension 101 again…you lash out with emotion and not facts…take a deep breath, regain your composure…your worship of Paul borders on fanaticism and idol worship, hes a poitician, nothing more, like all of them….Your rant makes you sound unhinged and desperate..not a good look for you…Status Quo would be to elect someone who has no ability to unite anyone or to draw people into his circle to help push forward their bills…thus creating inactivity and not producing any lasting change..ergo..keeping the status quo…Pauls a good man, but voting for him would be, what, more of his failure to accomplish anything…thats his record…I dig his Constitutional platform, believe me I back it all the way..but be realistic..remember, checks and balances of power…I am done with this thread, I wish you well…I am off to the range.

If you are voting for Romney you are endorsing those things I said about you. You people think Romney can win. With out the Paul supporters he gets crushed. The only chance to beat Obama is to get behind the candidate that offers the middle something different, not the same old political crap.

Posted on May 22, 2012 at 3:43pmI will reserve judgment until I hear exactly what one has to say for Roger Ailes to take it as “basically” admitting to being a socialist.

Posted on May 23, 2012 at 11:00amI agree with your post, Chet. When Stewart comes out to his loyal audience that he is a socialist and showing “the world” that he “walks the talk” and has been “secretly” paying 75% of his earnings to the IRS……hollywood will “pause”. What will be the response?

Posted on May 22, 2012 at 10:03pmAmazing how proud socialists are that they don’t want to admit even being a socialist. They get upset when they are called out on it or cornered into admitting it. But the most backwards mentality of these self proclaimed geniuses is that they preach how wonderful life is under socialism yet none of them practice this code of conduct themselves.
