Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez is said to be in “dire” health and not expect to live more than a few months, according to a report.

From Dan Rather, formerly of CBS News and now of “Dan Rather Reports” on cable channel HDNet:

“This reporter has been told that Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has metastatic rhabdomyosarcoma, an aggressive cancer that has ‘entered the end stage.’  The information and the quote come from a highly respected source close to Chavez and who is in a position to know his medical condition and history. This source says the prognosis is dire and that Chavez is now not expected to live ‘more than a couple of months at most.’  Chavez is running for re-election in Venezuela but several sources–including the one who revealed the exact kind of cancer– have told me that they believe it is doubtful the dictator will live to see the results.

Rather‘s report noted the information about Chavez’ cancer and prognosis came from only one source.

“This is a person whom your reporter has very good reason to trust, but you should know that there is only one source so far; no other immediate confirmation,” Rather reported.

Chavez has made multiple trips to Cuba for cancer treatment; he has not identified the type of cancer.

      Cancer is not a punishment. This man didn’t get this because he is evil. I know some very good people that have passed away from cancer and I believe they are in a better place now. I wonder if Hugo will be as happy as they are? Maybe he might want to start repenting…..fast.

    Chevez is leaving, but there are plenty more Chevez(s) to take his place. Wonder where all those kidnapped girls are that have been form vacation resorts in the Caribbean and isles of the Dutch? How did all that work out for you Chevez, leaving parents to grieve and mocking them. How, really is that working out? Bang the drums slowly Chevez because the Lord upon whom you are calling along with the voodoo, the Muslims and other false gods is not to be mocked. You would be doing the same thing you did before if you were healed. Do people a favor and give up the kidnapped and allow some people who have grieved for years some relief.

    Couldn’t be happier. Oh yes I could, the news could have been that he is dead, but this is good too. I hope he suffers for a long time before croaking, so maybe this is better. I can’t hardly wait though, I said I was going to get drunk when this piece of garbage finally dies.

    When I die, no one will give a crap, but that’s okay. I‘d rather that than have hundreds of millions of people cheer that I’m dead. Some people say they want to piss on his grave, but not me. I don’t like standing in long lines.
