Report: Iranian Officials Pressuring Christian Pastor to Convert Back to Islam

Iranian officials are reportedly pressuring jailed Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani to convert back to Islam as he waits for the nation’s top leader to decide whether he should be put to death for becoming a Christian.

According to Fox News, government officials recently approached Nadarkhani in prison and gave him a book on Islamic literature, telling him they would return to discuss the material and hear his opinion.

The 300-page book, titled “Beshaarat-eh Ahdein” — meaning “Message of the two Eras,” a reference to the New and Old Testaments — claims Christianity is a fabrication and tries to establish the superiority of Islam, Fox reported.

Nadarkhani‘s fate is now in the hands of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, a state court said last month. The 34-year-old pastor has been jailed since 2009 on charges ranging from apostasy to rape to operating a brothel. Though he converted to Christianity as a teenager, he attracted authority attention after protesting that his sons were forced to learn about Islam in school. Nadarkhani said it was unconstitutional because it did not allow for the free practice of religion.

A court gave him the opportunity in September to recant his Christian beliefs, which Nadarkhani refused.

His case has attracted heavy international attention and the support of religious and human rights groups.

“This isn’t the first time that we have seen this strategy used in the Iranian jail system,” attorney Tiffany Barrans, the international legal director for the American Center for Law and Justice, told Fox of the attempt to influence Nadarkhani to convert back.

She wondered whether this was a sign Khamenei might be willing to give Nadarkhani another chance, or was “another way to trap him to allow the regime to continue to punish him or have documented evidence of blasphemy against Islam.”

There is no timeline for Khamenei to make a decision.

    The Christian pastor knows if he converts back he loses his soul.. whats losing your body comapred to losing your soul. So far I have seen more bravery out of this one man than I have any Christians in this country.. Here they give in, apologize and allow the left to control them! God help us!

      @ SurhanSurhan, okay then, how about this. Islam says that Jesus was a prophet that proceeded muhammed. Islam also says that all of the prophets before muhammed were not as great, but all pointed up to muhammed. That sure is funny, because, Jesus said so many times that, “I am the way, the TRUTH, and the light, NO MAN comes to the Father, EXCEPT, through me.” So this means, either A. He was telling the truth ,B. He is just a good man, but wrong, or C. He was a liar. It turns out, if a prophet is wrong, or a liar, they aren’t a prophet at all. Is that enough information about your religion that has a bas-tard (ismael) as the father?

(1) Jesus (pbuh) prophesied the coming of Muhammad (pbuh), Jesus said: “I have yet many things to say unto you, but you can not bear them now, but when the “spirit of truth” (Muhammad) is come, he (Muhammad) will guide you into ALL truth.” (2) No true prophet of God would say he is better than a previous prophet. Prophet Muhammad made no such claim. If Muhammad did say that, how come you did not post it here for everyone to see?       I challenge the Islamists to find an incident were a Muslim is threatened with ANYTHING for being a Muslim in this country, or any Western country. This pastor may lose his life but ends up victorious over death and over evil in the end. Iranians are converting to Christianity in droves and the Islamists know it – their birthrates among Muslims have fallen drastically, their people don’t believe Islam is the answer, they have no jobs and no future. Christ comes for the downtrodden, the hopeless, the sick – which is why he comes for the Iranian people and for the Chinese. Materialism and the hopelessness of Communist atheism leads nowhere.

    There is no assurance they will spare his life if he recants. They are afraid they will make him a martyr if they kill him now. If he recants his death will be meaningless, no one will remember him. I pray with all my might that he will remain in the faith. It’s easy to sit here in the comfort of my home and say that, but he is in my prayers. God help us all.

And he also sacrificed himself for the sins of the Father, because the Son is always greater than the Father, and the Father learns from the Son and vice versa.

      How is it hard to believe that the Son is always greater than the Father. Except for the fact that Radical Muslims have the concept upside-down, they practice the same thing when they train their children, except that God the Father didn’t have to train Jesus, and Jesus didn’t force others to sacrifice themselves for him, but that Jesus freely sacrificed himself for the Father.

    I would tend to think by this latest move of the Iranian government, the other charges they conveniently filed on him to ‘prove’ to the world he was a deviant and a criminal, wold be trumped up? That perhaps he really was jailed for religious persecution? Why, I’m shocked! It almost like these radical muslim leaders think the rest of the world is so dumb when they tell the most outrageous lies. This is just 1 of so many. I wonder if they think everyone believes them because their citizens are so brainwashed into submission and for the most part out of touch with the real world that they think we are so easily manipulated?       Consider this: IF God can prevent bad things from happening to us, yet chooses not to, then he cannot possibly be all-good. On the other hand, if God cannot prevent any of the bad things that happen to us in our lifetime, he is not all-powerful! This conundrum is what keeps me from embracing any of the world’s religions.       @ WINEDUDE- Don’t judge a religion by the people of the religion. Read their religious book and if the religious book has ALL the attributes of what you think God will have, then that is the true religion.

      Example: God does not get tired, so if a religious book says he got tired and rested, or he rested on the seventh day, this deity can not be God, slumber nor sleep can over-take God. God doesn’t eat food, he feeds you and me, but he, himself, is not feed. So if a religious book says he ate broiled fish and honeycomb, that deity can not be God, broiled fish and honeycomb are not His diet. God does not get thirsty, so if a God says in his religious book “I thirst” he is not God. See, when you eat food and drink liquids, you have the call of nature and must use the toilet, and if there is no toilet, you will have to find a rock or a bush to excrete. God doesn’t do that, he doesn‘t need a toilet because he doesn’t excrete.

      Get the picture? If you find a religious book like I just described, that is not a true religion, shun it and find the true religion, it’s out there you have to look for it. It might be right under your nose.

      I spoke with a teacher from Texas recently..this person told me that they are getting lots of foriegn students from Berma and so many different countries that I couldn’t keep up with them all. I have the deepest regards for this poor man…thank God that he is a Christian, because if they do murder him..or whenever he passes from this world…we know where he will be going..so he’s good. It concerned me about all of the Christians in Iran..because I knew that there are great many of them there..but whatever happens..we must pray that GOd gives them strength. I discovered this on the Council on Foreign Relations….they give you a projection on muslim demographics..they are liberal and of course they try to make you believe that this was what the Catholics suffered and other organizations and that this is just a phase..

      Some are forced into dhimmitude and made live as second-class citizens. The suffering Coptic community, once dominant in Egypt, is now a mere remnant.

      Others must convert or die, like the Hindus or Zoroastrians for example. The later is nearly extinguished from the earth.

      But eventually, the goal is a homogenous culture of pure Islam like that found in Arabia where no other culture is permitted expression.

They come to my door hoping to bring me into their folds, and me knowing that they don’t know the truth and neither will they accept it. And they hope that the people they come upon know a few things about Jesus already, and therefore when I tell them that God is going to enrich me with a Ferrari in Heaven and a virgin wife, they just walk away.

      Gary…When God said to Kill and eat…That was Peter having a dream in which he saw all those animals coming down on that cloud and when God said…”Arise Peter..kill and eat ” and Peter said..”I can’t eat anything unclean” and God said.”.Do not call anything that I have made unclean” Okay Gary..i know a lot of people think that this is when God gave permission for the Jews to eat pork…but when you think about it…what did Peter do when he got up? He didn’t go slaughter a pig and eat it..instead..this was his que to go and witness to the gentiles, because they were considered dogs by the Jews..of course when you go to a man’s home..you are to eat whatever he has prepared..but neither is permitted to judge the other..whether one eats only herbs or one eats meat..just like the holy days…we are not to judge each other..for which ones we keep and which ones we don’t.. our greatest command is to love the Lord our God with all of our heart mind and soul and to live each day unto the Lord. The second greatest command is to love our neighbor as ourselves….In the garden…the animals weren’t slaughtered…that only happened after the fall of Adam and Eve..

    My thoughts and prayers are with this man. Lord, this man needs Your peace beyond understand in his hour of need. I find it DISPICABLE that they are attempting to persuade this man to turn in his belief in Jesus Christ or face death. The bible predicts this in the latter days and I am afraid that this is the beginning of the persecution of Christians. I know its been going on for a while now but it is becoming more and more common and they are now reporting the persecution almost daily. It will continue and become so common that Christians will begin to go into hiding in order to avoid whats coming. As Christians we should all be praying for this man, for his family and friends and pray that he receives the Lord’s blessing while the Holy Spirit gives comfort and aid to this dear Christian. “Every knee will bow and every tongue confess”

    Christianity is the only reason this Pastor was arrested. This is an example of what will happen to all Christians if the caliphate should come to pass or if you should be alive during the tribulation when the anti-christ rules the earth, a person will be asked to denounced Jesus or die, it the person does denounce Jesus, they will go to hell when die later, we know the best choice!

It is clearly written in Revelations (blessed be those who read/hear Revelations) those in Christ will be demanded to renounce their faith or be killed. This poor guy is the beginning of that evil. Believing in the one true Jesus and son of God, will make it easier for people to understand by what means the spirit‘s of conquering people become transferred to other world’s where their is much more advanced civilizations.       I think their spirits wouldn’t know what to do. If they ever make it to heaven, they probably would have a complaint and want to control somebody. I think they have built their lives around complaining about and controlling other people. The drive to do good in the world is not their primary motivation. Obama has the same problem. You don’t do good by dividing your country and trying to disrupt the economics of your country just to stay in power.
