Report: Iranian Warship Route to U.S. Coast Leaked Online

Last week, an Iranian Naval Commander threatened to deploy ships off the U.S. coast as a provocative show of force.

Now it looks like Iran might actually be serious.

A new map that allegedly shows the expected path of the Iranian Naval expedition to the U.S has leaked online from an Iranian website, according to MEMRI.

The unprecedented route for the Islamic Republic would take Iranian ships through the Suez Canal and into the warm waters of the Caribbean, a total nautical distance of approximately 9000 miles. According to MEMRI, Iranian media sources claim:

“In this new and feasible mission, the ships of the navy of the Iranian Army will sail west, towards the Strait of Gibraltar, after they enter the Mediterranean. Subsequently, they will enter the Atlantic Ocean, and from there they must traverse the long distance to their destination off Cuba, in the Gulf of Mexico, and Central and South America.”

Iranian Naval chief Sayyari has previously threatened on Iranian state TV to send a fleet of warships into the Atlantic armed with “Nour” long-range anti-ship cruise missiles. The proposed Iranian flotilla would be an extension of Iran’s presence in the Mediterranean, the Persian Gulf, and the Indian Ocean.

Iranian warships deployed close to the U.S. mainland would be a deliberate provocation. The warships could be viewed as additional leverage– alongside Iran’s threat to cut off oil supplies through the gulf of Hormuz– if Israel were to strike against Iranian nuclear facilities.

MEMRI pulled a second map from the Iranian website that had no accompanying description, but showed a number of western countries in different colors, including the U.S., Cuba, Venezuela, Panama, Ecuador and Brazil. See Below:

Iranian Warship Route to U.S. Coast Leaked Online: ReportThe Iranian regime has already established close ties to Venezuela and Cuba, but the inclusion of the other Central and South American countries remains unclear, according to MEMRI.

In addition, an unconfirmed report in an Italian newspaper in September claimed Hezbollah– a terrorist proxy of Iran– has opened up a base in Cuba. This allegation was repeated by Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann just last week.

Whether Iran launches this aggressive naval action or not, the Ayatollahs are clearly looking for ways to agitate the United States and complicate international efforts to contain the number one global sponsor of terrorism.

      Or maybe that map was made by an elementary school student – which is what it looks like. There‘s really not but one reasonable way to get to the US if they can’t go through the Suez canal. And since the path shown isn’t great circle route, it’s not a military map.

      Don’t underestimate the fact they can actually make this happen, there was once a naval clash between two countries at the beginning of the 20th century, one a dominate power, the other was regarded as a second rate one at best — Czarist Russia v Japan, no one expected Japan to win.

      All they need to do is appear off the shores of the US, outside of our declared territorial waters, and the political and psychological victory for Iran among the Arab states will be immense.

      Yes we have the capacity to turn them into modern art and a new reef many times over; just think and see the larger game being played.

      America plays poker, Middle East plays Chess, China plays Go.

      One thing to think of, a large concern would be… If they make it into the Gulf of Mexico they would be in the perfect position to launch several missiles to deliver EMP’s over the US. The emp’s alone would wipe out a sizable portion the North American population. No energy, no supermarkets, no tractors, no distribution… starvation. A couple of corvettes or frigates could accomplish this and it has already come out that they plan to. First the Big Satan, then the little one. The islamic world would love this. I hope that you live where you can hunt, fish, and cut firewood. Pray. This could get real dicey.

      Sweet. Time to go down to the slaughter house and get a few buckets of pigs blood, load them up in a small plan and head out to drop them on the Iranians when they get in close making the turn at TX to go down Mexico way. 100% chance one of our subs will be following these fools so when you get shot down the sub can sink them and you get to ride home on the sub. It’s win win.

      Each crisis that is unfolding makes me think more and more that my gut-feeling of the current muslim-in-chief being the last president we ever have was right on the money. Every day his poll numbers go down, and every day a crisis seems to grow. We’re heading into the perfect storm for obama to declare martial law and suspend elections “for our own safety and good”.

      amazing.

      great circle navigation WOULD be the shortest route.
      However, when depicting a route for public consumption, it is common practice to NOT depict such a route, so as to avoid having to explain great circle navigation.

      As these maps were obtained FROM A WEBSITE, they WERE intended for public consumption.
      Had they come from a “secret document,” I’d be more inclined to agree with you.

      Let them have their little Western Atlantic cruise. It will be good for the crew to get out of the Persian Gulf and see some sights down off Florida. Once their big stick gun boat diplomacy cruise is complete, then the US will then have a presidence for their aggression towards the US and the threat that exists from them being so close to our coastal cities. US government does not get in front of the mikes and exclaim that they want to blow up Iran, but Iran says this about the USA all day long. We should take them seriously.

      Maybe these guys have heard that it is no longer a crime to enter the U.S. illegally. They could just pull up to the dock and run like a van load of Mexicans, apply for social security, use the medical facilities, go to our schools, etc, then, If we complain they coud sue us for discrimination. After all, that is what the Mexicans do so why can’t the Iranians? Of course they would have to convince the Demoncraps that they would vote Demoncrap.

      TomFerrari, you have a point which I accept. My reaction to this was it looks like something out of a comic book. How else would the Iranian navy get to the west coast without going around Africa or South America? The map doesn’t mean a thing. It’s not a “leak.” I could have drawn that map.

      If you go to the supplied link, you’ll find no map, nor mention of a map, nor mention of the specific website. So the trail is actually cold as far as where the map came from.

      This is just Iran grandstanding for internal consumption. They don’t have established supply lines to keep ships off the shore of the US. And they’d be at the bottom of the ocean in minutes if they posed a threat (and they know it). They’ve got a tiny Navy besides. They could do a lot more damage to the US by staying in the Persian gulf sinking tankers or closing the Strait of Hormuz (and they know that too).

      The reason the lame stream media don’t cover stuff like this? Because it’s stupid, it’s not news.

      @JHRUSKY I am inclined to agree. But I quite honestly thought that this was a tierney when he came into power. Everything was just a little too coveniently orchestrated with all the college kids traveling from town to town setting up camp and registering to vote and all the dead people’ votes. and the street people being bribed to vote plus the car trunk votes . And when the Conservatives busted them on it..they had to go before liberal judges..so it was a win win situation for them. They are very crafty..those Communist/Islamic/Liberal/Socialists. “Rules for Radicals” has served them well. How can you win in honesty and fairness against crooks?       Take two seconds and look up the Iranian Navy and how many vessels it contains and types of vessels they are. You can’t do much if your in a rubber raft with a pellet gun. 

      If Iran moves it’s only 4 frigates to our coastal waters they would have 0 at home. This move would be a chess move, a move to tempt an attack on an “open” piece on the board. Never attack something your enemy so easily sets out for you to attack. It is called a trap.

      The timing is interesting to me. Does this suggest Israel is about ready to hit Iran’s nuclear facilities? I doubt Iran suspects this would stop such an attack. So, do they plan to stop oil shipments should Israel hit them? It doesn’t concern me unless I see a movement of Soviet or Chinese warships. In that event, it could be a huge provocation and one on which it would be worth keeping an eye because Israel will not back down — they are going to hit Iran.

      @MILMOM I totally agree with you. I never thought about China’s poosible involvement..but I was just telling a friend today that there are all of these Hamaas affiliated Pakistanis that he spent 20 million to import to here and then all those Somali Muslims not to mention all of the terrorist training Mosques here. They can take us from within and from the outside. Also all the pro sharia law people that he’s appointed in government. Did he just appoint 2 “new” muslims in homeland security? It always bothered me that we now have muslims in the FBI and the CIA. I had heard when he first started appointing that he had muslims in homeland security. We have been set up in a really big way. Also..just because it‘s an older weapon doesn’t mean it’s not just as deadly. Thanks MIL MOM for pointing this out.

      I remember about a year ago, reading that Venzuela helped Iran get parts for nukes from Russia, as part of a new trade pact betweem Venzuela, Russia and China. Who knows what Russia’s Naval ships dropped off in the V for Iran. Remember, last summer, the big I tested missiles shot from submarines into the air. Saying now they had weapons which could hit the US. (a lot more easily from Cuba.) While everyone’s ignoring them as buffoons (and their dear Ad man & jab) certainly plays to this, they could actually have gooten some worthy weapons from Russia.

      Besides the Blaze, I’ve begun reading CNS news as Levin points out, also get alerts from several conservative alert sites and when on them check out the daily news. It was last week I saw it, but I was going through e-mails from the last few weeks.       Cuba is no fun

      The Iranians should drop anchor off of New York City. Crew members could visit relatives in New Jersey on Liberty, the warship could stay in contact with Iranian diplomats at UN and Mayor Bloomberg would love having the Iranian ship captain visit him at the Gracey Mansion. Now if the Iranian ship is sitting off of NYC, it could be set up homing beacons for Iran’s new ICBM warhead which is not very accurate.

      whoever got paid to write this story….I need your job!! stop trying to scare people….there are enough legitimate things to worry about!! people, we have a constant naval presence in the Mediterranean and I don’t mean one ship…an aircraft carrier and it’s battlegroup…to make this story even remotely possible, it would take all those ships and subs (basically having the ability to blow every living thing out of the water) and thousands of our finest to somehow allow the towel heads to pass them to even get to the suez canal….I think I’d have a better chance of swimming from here (va beach) to the med than for any of this to be anything more than the biggest longshot in the history of the world!!

Sense you are not familar with this part of the world we are going to send a fleet of our naval ships that will join you as soon as you enter the Atlantic off the coasts of Eruope and Africa. We will be happy to escort you on a tour of our hemisphere. However, if your intentions are to intimidate us with your presents and you bring with you weapons of distruction our navy will monitor your movements so closely that if you as much as light a match on deck of one of your ships you will recieve another letter from us asking you to come pick up your navy “off the bottom of the ocean”.

I say let em sit off the U.S. coastal waters. it is not like they can do very much. Personally, I think they picked the worst time to cross the Atlantic. Think HURICANE SEASON(June til the end of November…usually a little beyond Not that I want us to pray for any of their rubber dingies…er…ships to sink…BUT…all things considered….a perfect storm! would be rather nice…don’t you think…?! being Native American I keep wondering about weather dances…should I look into this…?! As for the map, it does look less than professional, so perhaps it’s just more bluster and BS. Recall the “streets running with blood” comments from other Islamic fools of the recent past.     One thing that got our attention a few years ago was the increased presence of russian nay vessels in the Caribbean, esp. with port stops in venezuela. This has been coming a long, long time, folks.

    I have to wonder if we can afford to wait a year to turn this country around .
    we need a strong reliable leader. Perhaps it is time to actually consider impeachment before it is to late. Even at that it will not be easy. We are easy for the taking and hated worlwide. Look at Israel , the mideast wants to destroy them and kill their people. Listen to the remarks towards the jewish people at the protests. We have no protection on our borders, and a president that does not have the best interest of our country in his heart. We have homegrown terrorist and illegal terrorist here and now. I had hoped that we could make it to 2012 elections but I have my doubts. This is real, and we have to act on this without hesitation.

    Just waiting for our country to explode and collaspe. Ready for the taking. This is so frightening. Sometimes I really believe that we will not be a functioning nation between now and the next presidential election regardless of who will run. I hate to think that we would have Obama as our leader if this would happen. We are hated so badly and many countries would rally together to totally strip us of our freedom.With all the home grown terrorist, lack of border control, and Obama as president this could be the end of the free world. Israel is under attack currently and is our only true ally. People need to wake up and get serious about the direction our country is headed, before it is to late. I would have liked to see what the election would bring and do things the correct way but this tells me that Obama needs to be impeached.I never thought that I would have to say that, and I hate that it has to come to this but I don’t know if we have the luxury of waiting another year to hope for the best. To think how many of the very countries that we have financially supported would join together to destroy us is mind boggeling. The violence that is erupting here on our homeland would make our founding fathers turn over in their grasves. We can’t say that they did not warn us, we just have gotten to comfortable and taken our freedoms for granted.

      The true price of freedom & liberty is not defending your ability to speak or act, But comes in defending the rights of that which you would spend a lifetime arguing against the same freedom & liberties.

      Forlornhope, You clearly illustrate why this country needs a return to the founding ideals. How quick are you to deny others their rights on property you do not own? I would warn you, that more often than not a law written against one group now, will turn into a law against everyone in a short amount of time. The same is true for loss of freedoms & liberties, if you need proof of that just look to the tsa. There are countless treaties regarding freedom of navigation. Ron Paul supports following the law, if we are to remain on our high horse, we better jump back on.

      You should really think about how your short term solutions can affect the bigger & longer term picture. I want a better country for the next generations, what do you want for them? It sounds to me like a police state of safety by preemptive force. I for one will not support such thinking. In fact I will spend a lifetime fighting such a thing.

      My only advice to you would be to say don’t be so quick to throw the ideals of freedom & liberty away. They take courage to hold on to, but it is far better than the alternative.

      Iran is a joke, how are they going to hit us with a nuke? We pioneered Israel’s Iron dome, we have planes that can knock an ICBM out of the sky. Their entire navy doesn’t even constitute a patrol group of ours. If Ron Paul wins he has our military on our borders & coast lines where they can defend us. Not humping through the desert with no mag in their riffles.

      On top of that what are we inspiring the youth to over there? Those kids who have watched us tear up their home for ten years will love us huh? We brought death and destruction, and then rebuild their bridges, and they will love America huh? Well thats a theory I guess, but I don’t support it. We are incubating the next generation of jihadist.

      War should always be last case resort. Or founders made it exceedingly difficult for us to go to war for just that reason. After ten years of sustained military actions how much better off are we? I would argue that were not. Having the gov’t come out every few months & say they stopped a terror attack is all well & fine if you believe they aren’t lying. Maybe you don’t mind the patriot act, & our veterans being put on a watch list though. To each their own, I stand against it

    according to syrian president Assad he is ready to attack israel and iran is supposed to attack us if nato troops intervene in syria he said he would call hezbollah in lebanon in too it would only take 6hrs so along with the riots in saudi arabia things are heating up everywhere kinda cascading you could say.Assad is positive nato will attack him and is ready so we should take this as a warning who knows what the iranians will haul to cuba or to hugo chavez and then the warships will sit right in the only place we are allowed to get american oil from .Looks like a rough winter ahead with all these crisis coming possibly at the same time stock up on whatever you can the people who make fun of you will be the ones begging or trying to steal food from you when the crap hits the fan.

      you are right, but i wonder who that new leader will be? i believe in the near future our hand will be forced and my prayer is a true american leader will be in office. i was in the military (first hitch) when Reagan took office and iran backed down immediately. i was proud of my commander that day. i was proud to be an American that day as well. will there be a repeat of history soon? or will there be a leader who will concede?

    WOW, the blaze parrot cheap war propaganda. Even Russian media, although annoyed, were more balanced this summer when US military ships went to Black Sea in violation with signed agreements with Russia.

I didn’t read you say that if they actually entered our sovereign/territorial waters or provoked us militarily you would “sink them”. By what authority would you just “sink them?” Hell, we an go over to Iran and “sink them” there… why wait based on your statement?

      Now me on the other hand, I have no problem sinking them there, here, or halfway in between… but I’m a war-mongering Neo-Con not a Libertarian leaning Constitutionalist such as yourself.

      The perfect scenerio is to let them get, veddy, veddy close (not in our territorial waters, but Cuba’s) and disable their ships, bring them to Guantanamo, and charge the occupants (Iranian Navy members, Chavez and Sean Penn) as spies. Now THAT would be Karma…

      The US does not have any signed agreement with Russia that prohibits US Navy ships from entering the Black Sea. Please offer or at least cite a source(s) for this claim. The fact is the US does have a military agreement with Ukraine for joint military exercises in the Black Sea. Please Google the search term: ‘Sea Breeze 2011 Exercise’ for for facts. The fact is Russia has an agreement with Ukraine for the use of Ukrainian territory for a Russian naval base, an agreement that goes back to Stalin. /source: Wikipedia
