Report: ‘Occupiers’ Blocked Ambulance Trying To Transport Stabbed Police Officer

Did OWS Protesters Block Ambulance Carrying A Wounded Cop?

As reported earlier, the Occupy Wall Street movement’s New Years Eve effort to retake Zuccotti Park was blocked by the NYPD. However, something else reportedly happened when an ambulance tried to take a stabbed police officer to the hospital.

According to the New York Post, at least one officer was injured in the clash with the swarm of protesters. The unidentified member of the NYPD was slashed on the hand with a pair of scissors and required medical treatment. However, the ambulance carrying the officer experienced some difficulty in getting the wounded man to the hospital.

The Post reports:

Hundreds in the crowd of occupiers then surrounded the ambulance as it tried to leave with the wounded officer, the source said.

The ambulance was eventually allowed to take the police officer to Bellevue Hospital where he is said to be in stable condition.

Earlier in the evening a group of 100 NYPD were on hand to deal with the OWS efforts on 12/31, additional police in riot gear were required to clear the park of protesters around 1:30am on January 1st.

Most of these Ambulances have a powerfull diesel so you can plow over anything or or push out of the way. In late 60′s I had to go thru Viet Nam prosesters at Un Of South Florida or drive 56 miles the other way to get home after working all day. A hippie jumped on my hood and I finally got thru crowd. I then raced theu all 4 gears to 100 MPH. and about a mile down the road was a FHP officer so I stopped. The hippie fell down because he couldn’t stand up and he had pooped his pants. I expected to be arrested and the FHP officer, while laughing off his ass told me I could go on.

I have a different take on these people. First, most are younger and have been misinformed much of their lives. What they do is out of fustration of themselves for not being able to better and forward their lives and secondly, ingorance of not rationalizing the complete stories. They are ‘lost’. I feel sorry for them.

I think most of them are barry’s supporters and have little or no idea of just how damaging he has been to the country but directly to them.

The real enemies are the people behind them and the people who are allowing them to assemble. Granted, all have a right to protest (if this is what it is called) but with these guys, AND their history, they should not be allowed to do such.

      http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/2011/12/occupy-la-lawsuit-financial-damages.html

L.A. might sue Occupy L.A. protesters for financial damages

Los Angeles City Atty. Carmen Trutanich is considering a lawsuit against Occupy L.A. protesters to reimburse the city for damage caused during the occupation of the City Hall lawn.

“The city is contemplating any and all of its options,” said William Carter, Trutanich’s chief deputy

…Carlos Marroquin, a representative of Occupy L.A., called the figures “outrageous” and argued that the city should have set aside money for special events and protests. He accused city leaders of trying to make the Occupy movement a scapegoat and described the intense police response, which involved 1,400 officers, as unnecessary.

“This was a peaceful movement,” he said. “They’re the ones that decided to use that amount of police, that amount of force.”

Get a yellow VW bug with, instead of a huge plastic back widow spider pasted on it, a mannequin made to look like OW protesters, or if to cheap just drive through a crowd of them so that when you exit the crowd they’re stuck all over the VW for commercial effect. Then toting Andea Mitchel, on a tow cart behind the vehicle, back up the infected area, when properly aimed pull andreas finger and watch the vermin run for their lives. It would not have been my fault if some of these intelligence challenged wackos was stupid enough to “jump” in front of the ambulance. I guess they had a suicide wish and drivers are not always able to avoid evading them. After all, these useful idiots have to be held accountable for their own actions. “You have earned the contempt of everyone the world over…”

That‘s really weird that you’d say that since the OWS movement is actually taking place the world over. The entire world is in revolt (Egypt, London, America, Greece, etc) and many of the demonstrations are not unlike to OWS movement, and some actually identify with OWS movement. So I find your claim that they’ve earned the contempt of the world to be slightly presumptuous given you clearly limit your perspective to the opinions of this site alone.

“You cannot tell me what OWS has accomplished because they have accomplished nothing.”
At the very least they are proving that free speech does still exist. “A Brave New World” made the claim that freedom not exercised is no better than imprisonment. That is to say, the only way you know you are free to eat broccoli is to actually eat broccoli and, likewise, the only way you know you are free to demonstrate is to actually demonstrate.

Aside from that, they have raised awareness to the plight of the student, the impoverished, and even the common man. Their courage has made businesses and government think twice before going against the grain. Arguably inspired by OWS, large internet providers are debating shutting down their services to protest SOPA.

Put simply, accomplishing nothing doesn’t get you media coverage.

“I’d wager OWS cannot even get 20,000 supporters in the US nationwide. And maybe 50,000 worldwide? I am being generous.”
      Wrong again.
On October 15th, a single day of protest, it estimated that there were 70,000 participants in the US alone:
      http://fivethirtyeight.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/10/17/the-geography-of-occupying-wall-street-and-everywhere-else/

“Obama fought an oil war in Libya”

@ Bushin12: Sorry the Tea Party proved that free speech is alive and well, clean and nonviolent way before OWS sullied the phrase. OWS has proven nothing.
The plight of the OWS student is that they borrowed money to pay for their education and now they want some one else to pay it off.
I, too, borrowed money for University and until I could obtain a very good paying job, which I now have, I worked in various positions: residential counselor, high school janitor, carpenter and other positions. I did not sit comfortably in mom’s basement and wait for the perfect job. I hustled.
      I pay my bills.
The impoverished in America for the most part have housing, food pantries, food stamps, energy assistance among other taxpayer and private corporation supported charities but most importantly opportunity. Opportunity to excel. Even with the abyssmal Kennedy-Harmon No Child Left Behind debacle and the horrific Leftist Indoctrination Zones our Universities have become (I experienced it first hand) Americans are still able to excel despite the obstacles of socialist engineering.
As for the common man I leave that to the socialist and communist herds in Europe and Asia. The only commonality we have (or had until socialism reared it’s ugly head) here in America is our innate goodness, the desire and opportunity to excel and succeed and the compassion to share that legacy world wide.

@ Bushie: As the NY Times and their blogs are nothing more than a propaganda arm of the progressive movement their opinions and estimates (and they are just that opinions and estimates) are given the same credibility as Dan Rather, Jason Blair or Eason Jordan: Zero.
And even if one were to suspend disbelief (which I do not) 70,000 people out of 310,000,000 is quite frankly negligible for any claim of support.
Finally, your inability to discern the difference between the strategic ramifications of the Iraq War and the relinquishing of the Libyan arsenal to Al Quaeda and the Islamic Supremacists as a result of a war to supply France and Italy with oil is tediously commonplace among the progressives. Child like naivety and wishful thinking are not judicious tools for policy formation. When you can fully comprehend the Global, shall we say, Struggle we in the West are in perhaps then you will realize the true danger confronting us all.

I see someone found the thesaurus, that’s cool. You sound really smart, too bad you sacrificed grammar for word choice, but I‘ll let it slide since I can see you’re trying to look relevant in front of your peers. Unfortunately, most of your peers have no idea what you just wrote, but that’s another matter entirely.

Watch how easy it is to address points with clarity AND brevity.
      1) Tea Party was no more peaceful than OWS, if you follow the news you‘ll see it’s primarily the Police. (sources if you need them)

      2) 20 years ago, a year of college cost 6k, now it costs closer to 30k. That is way beyond the effects of inflation and something clearly needs to change (hence the demonstrations).

      3) There are many socialist institutions that everyone enjoys and no one wants to disband: Police, Fire Department, Veterans Disabilities to name a few. It really comes down to “how much socialism is too much”, and that is a grey area for everyone. You’re arbitrary line is no more “american” than mine.

      4) You don’t accept my sources on the population of OWS, yet you provide nothing but your opinion as a rebuttal? Please. If you expect me to take you seriously you need find me on common ground.

      5) that 70,000 was on ONE DAY of the now fourth month long movement.

      6) Please enlighten me to the strategic relevance of the Iraq war – make sure it justifies the 36,000+ Dead and Wounded American Servicemen and women.

Screw OWS. At this point we hardly need more evidence of who they truly are. That said, the part of this story that bothers me most is the emphasis on the fact that it was a police officer. The fact that they blocked the passage of an ambulance… period… is the issue here. I am disturbed by the fact that essentially every news agency and much of the public have been conditioned to place a premium on the rights and the lives of police (or any specific group). Just like how crimes against police are pursued with far more vigor and prosecuted far more harshly than crimes against the rest of the public. It should not be this way.

Actually, yes, it should be his way. Am I saying that a police officers life is more valuable than someone else? No. But can you tell me one other job that people are taught to hate where those apart of it are trying to protect? But I believe that with all the hype that is place, both in the media and the hunt for the suspect, in an officer killing causes people to be more weary about attacking an officer than if no one cared. My father was as officer for 25 years so I have a great deal of respect for what they do and if the hype helps keep them a little safer, then I am all for it.

I do not see an “emphasis” in this article on the fact that the wounded person was a police officer. It is just one of the facts–and it should be the mission and duty of the press to present as many of the facts as possible.

However, if there WAS more emphasis on that fact, it would be justified. If you can’t understand why it is a more serious offense to disrespect and even attack those who are authorized by the citizenry to enforce their laws, and who constantly put their lives on the line to do so, then your thinking is as muddled and illogical as thinking of OWS.

I want my officers to be protected by the communities they live in because most are not paid well, the reitirement is not what it is often made out to be, they made an oath to protect people they never met, give up all holidays to keep the oath and my list can go on. The least we can do as members of the community is to not allow these actions to go unnoticed or unpunished.

Are you kidding. The police are the line of defense between you and the criminal. You think if they will go after an armed authorized representative of the law they would even hesitate to cut your unarmed untrained, unprepared, and apparently ignorant throat?

I recall an article a couple of months ago stating “just wait for the first cop that is assaulted with a deadly weapon or worse yet, MURDERED by an OWS protester. That is when the entire ball of yarn will come unraveled” (paraphrased). I would suggest that this is the precursor and it is also well past the time to shut ‘em all down with severe consequences for those that will not comply.

I will give everyone a pass for initial comments about OWS , when they first started. EVERYONE in this country has a right to protest, but not by trespassing on private property; not by practicing 4th world sanitary conditions; and certainly not by blocking an ambulance.

That being said, OWS PULLS HARD VACUUM!

REPUBLICORP Paul praised the Occupy movement for focusing attention on the “very rich” who became wealthy because of government bailouts or contracts, but said that wealthy people who make an honest living “have to be protected. We shouldn’t be jealous or envious of those people.” Thanks for the article, looks like he wasn’t in favor of the bailouts,AIG,GM.and the banks should have went through bankruptcy court. He also wants to put an end to ALL forms of welfare.

      Stoic one

Give them a pass? Hardly. Zucotti Park has always been “private” property. Additionally, setting up tents and squatting on public property in most communities has always been against the law. Unless the homeless and bums in your town have always had the right to set up a tent city in front of city hall without permit. Protesting requires permits. OWS protesters across the country never have applied for such nor respected the rule of law from the get go.

Trying to equate the two for political benefit Rep. Paul shows naivety and disregard for Cities, States and Counties rule of law across the US. So what exactly is Rep. Paul in this? Staunch upholder for the Constitution and Rule of Law or just another politician trying to play both sides of the field when convenient? Very inconsistent.

      KKK??? This KKK?
Fresh off of his endorsement from former KKK Grand Wizard and former Congressman from Louisiana David Duke, we find this photo of Congressman Ron Paul with former Klansman, former Nazi and current radio show host and moderator of Stormfront.org Don Black. Pictured next to Black in the cool hat appears to be his radio sidekick and son Derek. (Here’s an interesting note….Derek‘s mother is David Duke’s ex-wife. Que the banjos.)
A couple of days ago on his radio broadcast, Don Black was quoted as saying,
“Everybody, all of us back in the 80s and 90s, felt Ron Paul was, you know, unusual in that he had actually been a Congressman, that he was one of us and now, of course, that he has this broad demographic — broad base of support.”
Mr. Duke said in his endorsement of Dr. Paul,
“Again, I go back to that, you know, traditional topic that I always talk about, you know, the powers of international Zionism–a power in banking, a power in media, a power in government influence, in campaign finance–a power that’s, you know, hurting the values of this country on behalf of Israel,” Mr. Duke said. “So, I would vote for Ron Paul at this moment because he’s one of the few candidates who have policies in this regard and this realm that I wholeheartedly support, and that’s why I’d vote for him.”

The lemmings of the left are neither sophisticated nor intelligent enough to realize that they are being played in order to advance an agenda which, in the end, will adversely affect them the most.
