Report: Plane Carrying FLOTUS Aborts Landing After Coming Dangerously Close to Cargo Jet

The Washington Post reports:

A White House plane carrying Michelle Obama came dangerously close to a 200-ton military cargo jet and had to abort its landing at Joint Base Andrews on Monday as the result of an air traffic controller’s mistake, according to federal officials familiar with the incident.

Ultimately controllers at Andrews feared the cargo jet would not clear the runway in time, said the officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to speak for their agencies.

FAA officials confirmed that the first lady was aboard the plane but had no additional immediate comment. They expected to release a statement later Tuesday. The first lady’s office also had no immediate comment.

    I’m glad there was no one hurt. This happened to me one time: It’s spooky when you are close to a touch down and then the jets go full throttle and the plane vears skyward with no warning. I know I thanked God for keeping me safe that time.

    Read the peice at WashingtonPost – interesting indeed and they state based on recorded incidences the matters such as this have gone up…not many involvments compared to the total number of flights occuring yearly yes, yet what in the heck is causing this?

    Or is it just another example of a government run area falling apart once again?

      I too would have felt bad for those operating the planes and those on the cargo plane. But I don’t give a rats a$$ that she’s a mom. She is pure evil! Those kids are done, just like 90% of the muslim children at age 5. We can only pray they may find salvation, but odds are way against them considering who their parents and their mentors are. Thos are the facts.

      Just because some of you are uppidy hopefulls, doesn‘t mean we pragmatic realists can’t have a differenct view on things.

      No Mercy for those that would rather see you in chains or dead. That’s just me. I will continiue to sacrafice all for my God and country until they burn me for good.       Cut thru the BS about ATC…LOOK AT THE BIGGER PICTURE

      The democrats want more federal funding for a new “air traffic control system” The Aerospace Industries need it so that it can stay in the forefront of airspace technology and sell more products internationally and domestically. The air traffic controllers need it so that they can become more productive. And everyone tells us that consumers need this because it will be safer.

      But with more money today, they can save taxpayers even more in the future. I always love this special kind of Washington, DC, logic. It reminds me of a friend of mine who went broke buying great bargains. He saved so much money on bargains that he found himself in bankruptcy.

      Bottom line: More SCARE TACTICS to justify more spending!

      Won’t disagree with the facts. But who here can read a heart? I guess having a higher standard for ourselves as opposed to the takers is anathema, and if that is the case, keep your new whatever your going to call it when you’ve plastered your enemies brains upon the walls of common idignation, your creation will be no better than that which you destroy, and will not resemble the founders America in the slightest.
      Why waste time filling a church seat, GOD might reach someone who needs it.

      @SNOW Remember when we were all saying the TSA employees would be unionized …and they would need ‘more’ workers …and it happened? I truly believe these incidents (Not flotus) are being ‘outed’ for one purpose only. They want MORE employees so they can have more Union members. If the sleeping has been going on, they are just now throwing people “under the bus” to get the publicity so they can hire more UNION workers. If this is something “new” then Homeland Security had better find out what is going on in the towers !!!!
      Remember…always a ‘crisis’ then the gov. has to ‘fix’ it..and they want to ‘fix’ this by hiring more union workers. Smoke and mirrors

      This has nothing to do with being PC, it has everything to do with content of character, you have shown a need for some improvements.

      it was four miles distance instead of the recommended five. They made it sound like she was in danger. She was returning from her appearance on the View of all places. Now lets put things back into perspective. She is O.K.
      Meanwhile her husband is bankrupting America, giving billions to Brazil and columbia of oil and we are paying $4.00 per gallon, while college kids are clapping for this boob at his campaign rally today. Oh, yeah, that you paid for!!!

      When the handoff occurred, the planes were 3.08 miles apart, radar shows, but the TRACON controller told the Andrews tower that they were four miles apart.

      I think the FAA is being starved out of funds in an attempt to make things look bad.

      This will then be blamed on too harsh a work environment cause by the fact that the controllers are not unionized.

      This will then be blamed on Regan.

      A bill will then be put forward to allow the controllers to unionize.

      He plays these games. This time around the problem he created hit a little too close to home. It was not his intent to put his wife’s life in danger, just ours.

      Oh please. This happens hundreds of time around the country every day. A plane fails to clear the runway in a timely manner, and the local controller instructs the plane on final to “go around”. There’s nothing “dangerously close” about it, it’s a routine operation. Been there, done that in my 20-year career as a controller, wouldn‘t even want to try to count the times I’ve said “go around”.

      It’s called a “missed approach” and it is a maneuver that piolots practice for all the time. When you see military jets just flying around the air base whhat you are seeing is local training flights. They have to fly a certain number of hours every month and they practice for any occurance. They also spend a lot of hours in the simulator where they practice for more dangerous and elaborate situations. The piolts that fly for the 89th are the best in the business. MSgt USAF(ret) 89th MAW 1980-1987.

      They are making this an issue because the Royal plane had to abort landing , and you NEVER ask anyone from the Royal family to change their plans. Instead the ATC should have forced the other planes to get out of the way so that Her Royal Highness could land her royal ride

      Thank The Good Lord that she is safe and ok. I really do not like this lady(her actions and character) in the least but I am very happy she is ok as we should always wish only the best for our President and his family as far as their health and safety go. I love her and the President as human beings I just do not like them as the self imposed nanny state rulers they have become. Sounds like it was way too close for comfort.

      Living in the Detroit this is a hot bed for all types of twisted off-shoots of religion that hide under Christianity, just like BHO’s so called pastor. If you do not know Dearborn. Mi has one of, if not the, greatest populations of muslims in this country. Of course they are here because of the Jewish population. They follow the Jewish people around like those sucker fish on sharks. Always have, always will.
      So the media exposure to this Fla. gentleman has got him addicted. As Betterdays had said earlier we are in a spiritual battle. I do not condone Bible burning but it has become accepted in this age.

      The Bible burning used to bother me earlier on, but I have been shown better now. My God is living and living in me. A dead god that lives in a book and can be destroyed by a bic lighter has no power over me and does not scare me. I have worked in jails, prisons, psych wards with the criminally insane, on the streets, and in churches. I can say that I am a spiritual warfare veteran. It is know so easy for me to be shown what is in a person. We are very complex beings in how we exist, but very basic in our our make up, behavior wise.
      The old cartoons of the angel on one shoulder and the devil on the other is spot on. It all boils down to which dog you decide to feed.
      God is alive, the angels around us are not here to keep us alive as much as they are to do spiritual battle. So if angles are here…….what are they here for and with whom are they doing battle with?

      Those that so not know the answers to what I have posed here have already made their choice, but you still have the breathe of life in you.

      This incident reminds me of how the coconuts were removed from the trees when his Royal Lowness visited India.

      I have a hard time separating the evil president from the evil man and his equally evil wife. I am also not going to thank God for keeping the evil First Couple safe. I’ll leave that to Glenn and like-minded Blazers.

      P.S. Where exactly does the Bible say I should do that?

      She didnt want them to land the plane until she finished her big plate of ribs, corn on the cob and gravy with biscuits. Its obvious she is not following the same diet she wants the sheeple on.

      I have to remonstrate cheezwhiz. not a pilot but i know planes moving at the speeds they do, there is very little time window for safety. The controller has to see the 2 planes, recognize that they are dangerously close, get over his startlement, decided what he should do, call off one or both of the airplanes, the pilots hear the call off, get over THEIR startlement, and react to what the controller has told them to do…. then they get their ” ohh S@$t” in. If “Ohh S@$t” comes at anytime before, its too late.

      It’s amazing how our “Royal Elites” fly here, there and everywhere while we’re instructed to ride bikes or take a train… All of that fossil fuel for a tiny segment on “The View”… As always, it’s “Do as we say; not as we do”…

      Dangerously close with a presidential family aircraft means they weren’t locked down (no movement) and her flight was within about 15 minutes of landing. Her airplane wasn’t within 20 miles of Andrews.

      Keep in mind that I’d say this about any first lady regardless of party affiliation (and have in the past before BHO). When, oh when, did we start giving “first families” their own jet aircraft to flitter to and fro without the President on board, and why oh why are we starting to treat the presidency as some kind of royal appointment?

      Some say, “Oh sure…four miles from another aircraft…what’s the big deal?”

      The big deal is that at the speed her aircraft was traveling, impact would take place in about 20 seconds. If the other aircraft was headed directly at hers, cut that reaction time in half. Those things don’t turn on a dime at over 500 miles per hour. This was a very close call….if they were both at the same altitude.
