Report: Police Arrest Former News of the World Editor Rebekah Brooks in Phone Hacking Scandal

Former News of the World editor Rebekah Brooks, seen here earlier this month, has reportedly been arrested in connection with the phone hacking scandal that brought down the British tabloid.

LONDON (AP) — British police investigating phone hacking and police bribery by the defunct tabloid News of the World arrested a 10th person in the case Sunday, a 43-year-old woman.

Sky News reported the woman is 43-year-old Rebekah Brooks, who stepped down Friday as head of Rupert Murdoch’s British newspapers.

Police would not confirm her identity.

Police said the woman arrested at a London police station at noon Sunday by appointment. She is being questioned on suspicion of conspiring to intercept communications and suspicion of corruption.

Police have already arrested nine people connected to Murdoch’s British media empire over allegations that the News of the World hacked into the phone voice mails of hundreds of celebrities, politicians, rival journalists and even murder victims. No one has yet been charged.

The latest arrested comes just two days before Brooks is due to answer questions from a parliamentary committee investigating the hacking. Rupert Murdoch and his son James are also due to give evidence.

The Guardian, about the only media source of any kind left in the UK that’s owned by Brits, has soldiered on all alone for years on the hacking scandal. Can you imagine the sleepless nights of the editors knowing full well what Murdoch was capable of…

…We shall defend our Island, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender, and even if, which I do not for a moment believe, this Island or a large part of it were subjugated and starving, then our Empire beyond the seas, armed and guarded by the British Fleet, would carry on the struggle, until, in God’s good time, the New World, with all its power and might, steps forth to the rescue and the liberation of the old.
They say that when Churchill heard about Pearl Harbor he said, “I sleep the sleep of the saved.”

Today, the Guardian’s headline was “FBI launches investigation into allegations that 9/11 victims’ phones were targets”

Tonight, the Guardian’s editors sleep the sleep of the saved.

They bribed the police millions of dollars, and hacked all the top ones including all those investigating them or their employees being tried for planting axes in people’s heads. Today’s news is they paid for a $20,000 5 week spa stay for the head of Scotland Yard. They also send viruses in the email to intelligence agents, not clear if Scotland Yard too.

Holder will drop everything he is doing to attack Murdoch and FoxNews. Bet your bottom dollar on that!
Of course, he couldn’t be bothered to prosecute voter fraud or voter intimidation by uniformed thugs with police batons/nightsticks.

    SELECTIVE JUSTICE IS NOT JUSTICE!

Justice is supposed to be BLIND!

Guess obama and holder didn’t get that memo or missed that day in harvard law school.

More likely, they took an advanced course that explains how the ELITE, harvard-educated, intellectually-endowed, do not have to follow the same laws as everybody else. They learned that the law is a blunt weapon FOR THEIR USE against others, and that it can be bent and made to do whatever they WANT it to do with lies, media, twisted-arguments, and deceit.

I guess the most awesome thing about this whole “scandal” is that the Murdochs actually took responsibility for the actions of their employees.

Now if only our gov’t will take responsibility for the deaths of two border agents in “operation gunrunner”. No, that would mean that king obama would have to admit that he effed up. We all know how that has been working out. He is not responsible for any of the actions of those “he” appointed.

Calling this hacking and a crime is such a crock, they are accused of getting people’s phone numbers, calling them, and if nobody answers getting transferred to voice mail, typing 1234. if the person didn’t change their password, they listened to the voice mail messages. This is known as investigative journalism. Tyranny is what is happening, has anyone else noticed Fox is no longer reporting news, they are now just reading the news feed provided by the liberal propaganda machine, not going and getting their own news stories any more. ;-/

That‘s why when Glenn went off I haven’t turned on the news at all. Everything I get is from my own research from the internet and stories from the Blaze. And understand they haven’t reported the news in quite some time. Telling me how a democrat thinks that the health care bill is constitutional and that 55% of Americans agree is not news.

Actual news would be: the democrats in the house senate passed a new health care law which was signed by the president. This law will require everyone to have insurance and is argued by the republicans to be un-constitutional but had no way to stop the passing of the bill. Then a good reporter would provide the clauses in the constitution in which these politicians make their arguments for or against the bill and show the federalist papers on where the arguments were made, then they would let us make the decisions on who was right.

I have to agree with you there, Fox has, especially the last few weeks gone into the socialist night like so much else has. For too long lately, I had hoped something would be noticed and changed, and yet, nothing but silence — even some of the postings I try to make on the websight of theirs are now routinely “moderated for extremist points of view” when all I may say is being in agreement with the articles author or the posting someone else has made already.

Technically, it is still covered by wiretapping laws.
The password is considered a lock.
Picking a lock mechanism IS breaking-and-entering.

I, for one, will not condone wiretapping.

However, I WILL say, this does NOT go to the top.

Can you IMAGINE how many THOUSANDS of hours a day Murdoch would have to spend if he PERSONALLY micromanaged all these decisions?

A reporter was bright enough to figure out the password on the voicemail.
Does anybody think he went to his boss and asked, “can i just guess the password and listen to the messages?”
      NO.
He/she just tried it, and it worked!
So, she/he wrote an article and got lots of kudos for it from the bosses.

The REAL problem is, the boss either KNEW the source and still allowed it to be used,
OR, the boss DIDN’T bother to ask for the sources.

However, the EDITOR’S JOB is to run the “paper”
OWNING a paper has nothing to do with REPORTING.
Once Murdoch became AWARE of the practices, he took swift and decisive actions.
You can imagine how P‘O’ed he is – this has cost him MILLIONS, if not BILLIONS.

If a school superintendent has 50 schools, and @ three, somebody spikes the punch at prom.
      Did the superintendent do it?
      Did they know?
      HELL NO.
      Are they responsible?
Sure, but, their responsibility is to take measures to make is less likely to happen again.

      Remember
NotW is NOT a “newspaper” as we know it – it is a “JOURAL” – a “RAG”

Well, I’ll have to disagree with this silliness:

“However, I WILL say, this does NOT go to the top.”

First of all, you don’t know if it goes to the top. In fact, you don’t know anything more than what the British and American media has reported. If you do know something more, and have incontrovertible proof of it, then I’m sure the FBI and the Justice Department would like to speak to you about it.

Secondly, James Murdoch, number 2 behind his father, most likely did know about it and if he did not, than that only means that he has very little management control over his editors, which is quite doubtful. Les Hinton, publisher and editor of the Dow and the Wall Street Journal, has resigned for his participation in illegal phone hacking in the U.S. To suggest that Rupert Murdoch and his son James were unaware of the source of the information illegally obtained by the News Corp organization is the pinnacle of stupidity.

I suggest you read the news reports first and try to arrive at some rational conclusion from them before you begin shooting off at the mouth in support of your beloved Fox News and making a fool of yourself.

I will say without the first qualm that Rupert Murdoch, his son James, and his blowhard staff at Fox News are absolutely corrupt, lying, disgusting pigs. It would serve this country, and any other country in the world where this mafioso organization operates, to be shut down and its participants, including Mr Murdoch himself, be carte

All those folks whose private lives ere made public.

And don’t forget the others whose lives have been destroyed by the media mob. And then found innocent!

I hope they do investigate FOX USA. It would be nice to see if they can find something. The public needs to know.

Hello Blaze friends! I have started a prayer group for Glenn and his endeavors on educating our youth and his mission in Israel. This group also posts news articles and videos on topics Glenn has covered on his show. Many others and I are members of GBTV and will be discussing his show daily and posting what he shares on the Internet. This is a great way to stay in the loop if you do not have GBTV!. If you are a “like minded” Christian, Conservative Glenn Beck fan please join us! Find me on Facebook under Sharon Grek Papucci and send me a friend request!

Facebook? Sorry, but no thanks. Same goes for Twitter, and any other “social network” website. I’ve found that “social networks” are mostly populated with socialists. Go figure…

I’m willing to bet, they is the way things are done at Murdoch owned business’s. I saw somewhere that
the FBI is investigating over here in the USA!! Watch the WSJ, NY Post and Fox news MIGHT be the next to get what’s deserved….IF they did the same.

So they aren’t suppose to investigate? Trying to get a person‘s phone number isn’t a crime, sort of sad that the cops would charge for it, but then that’s the cops committing the crime, not the journalist. Calling someone‘s phone number isn’t a crime, getting xfered to voice mail isn’t a crime, punching 1234 to see if they changed their default isn’t a crime most places, listening to the voice mail, while not something I would want them doing, isn’t a crime most places. These people should have changed their default password on their voice mail. The only real crime was committed by the cops, of course Soros didn’t spend billions to get the cops arrested, he spent billions to go after fox news for being one of the last true journalists on the planet, tyranny at it’s finest.

LadyisShy — this is what happens when people think they are either above the law or are the law in the land…they get too bold and big for their pants and then everything slams down upon them in the world we all live in, they ask why they are being hounded so…I wonder how soon this kind of stuff will be happening in America to some of the left leaning press members and news groups?
