Report: Rubio Not Being Vetted as Possible VP Pick

ABC: Rubio Not Being Considered for Vice President

AP

If you’re a betting person, putting your money on Marco Rubio as Mitt Romney’s running mate has seemed like a good idea. It makes sense: Rubio has the support of the Tea Party, he’s popular with Hispanics, and he represents a swing state (Florida). But according to a new report by ABC, the Rubio bet is apparently a bust.

“Knowledgeable Republican sources” tell ABC’s Jonathan Karl that Romney is not being vetted as a possible VP pick:

He has not been asked to complete any questionnaires or been asked to turn over any financial documents typically required of potential vice presidential candidates.

Although it is possible that Rubio may yet be asked to go through the vetting process, it has been nearly two months since Romney named his long-time aide Beth Myers to run his vice presidential search. The fact that Rubio has not been asked to turn over any documents by now is a strong indication that he is not on Romney’s short list of potential running mates.

Karl goes on to note that the two regularly speak fondly of each other, so an upcoming vetting is not out of the question. Both camps declined comment. And that would make Jeb Bush happy.

“Marco would bring incredible energy,” Bush told ABC at the beginning of June. “He’s the most articulate spokesman for conservative principles in American today, and he is my friend, so I am a little biased. I think he would be extraordinary.”

Let the Chris Christie speculation begin anew.

Who vetted Obama? I’m not saying Rubio should be picked, but I don‘t see the point of dwelling on the fact that he hasn’t been vetted when we’ve had to live for 3-1/2 years under the “rule” of someone else who wasn’t vetted. Vetting a potential candidate is one of the last things over which Democrats need to make a big deal.

Neither Marco Rubio nor Bobby Jindal are qualified to be VP because they do not meet the Constitutional requirement. They are not Natural Born Citizens by the classic definition. I wish that more people would understand that. The TEA party is still alive and well, don’t be fooled into thinking they have gone away. Allen West, Rand Paul, or Paul Ryan would all be good choices. Almost anyone would be better than the current VP. Obama picked him as Insurance. If Obama were to leave office before January 20, do you really want Biden?

Jonny, By picking Romney as the nominee means the GOP does not want to win in November. He cannot win. He does not have the base he needs, he is disconnected with voters and that will be a problem.
Lawyers for Ron Paul have taken over the Ron Paul grassroots campaign and with the lawsuit they filed, it will unbind the delegates at the national convention and it will shed light on the election fraud the RNC has commited. A federal RICO suit will follow that may just indict several establishment RNC/GOP leaders. If you guys want to continue with criminals, be my guest.

Both are in it for the power, neither one wants you to have freedom or to think and act for your self and what is good for you. That said, I would not class Paul as a libertarian. He just wants to shift control from the fed to the states, instead of eliminating the control. Gary Johnson is a much better option.

Remember, appointees to the SCOTUS have to be confirmed by the Senate. All the more reason to leave the few strong constitutional leaning Senators where they are at and for working to get as many progressive leaning Senators out.

The tea party started because of the bank bailouts – which started under Bush. It continued through Obama’s housing and auto bailouts. Therefore, it was neither republican nor democrat movement. But now the tea party has been silenced and has been forced to get behind a moderate republican.

Paravada – I think you missed the reason that Jesus spoke of praying in private. It is a matter of intent, I believe. One should not pray in public for the purpose of showing how holy we are. If you are doing it because you love God and are praying because you are asking with a pure heart, I am sure God would not fault one for praying in public or on the internet. We do not truely know what is the intent in this case, but it appears that it is out of love for God and Marco Rubio.
