Report: Shooter Made Past Threats Against Giffords

Investigators are examining past interactions between Jared Loughner, the suspect accused of killing six and wounding 13 others, and Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords in an attempt to shed more light on what kind of motives may have driven the young gunman to kill on Saturday. According to CBS News, Loughner had made threats against Giffords in the past and even met with her face-to-face at a 2007 event.
On “Face the Nation” Sunday, CBS’ Bob Orr reported that the 2007 interaction included a “benign” question from Loughner posed to the Congresswoman, but her response was apparently unacceptable in his eyes.
“She answered the question; he didn’t find it acceptable, he didn’t like the answer,” Orr said. “In the time since then, investigators believe perhaps he was tracking her and targeting her in a very loose way.”
“We should say that Loughner has made threats in the past,” Orr added. “Police knew this guy. He had made these threats, general in nature, not specific.” Loughner was never criminally charged for any of these threats.
“We want to be careful here to say that as far as we know, there was not specific intelligence that he intended to do anything yesterday. It’s not like someone missed a blinking red light here,” Orr said.
In the hours since Saturday’s horrific shooting incident, details about Loughner have slowly emerged. Many have described the 22-year-old as a disturbed individual who frequently disrupted his college classes and was rejected for service by the U.S. military. According to Loughner’s neighbors, the young man kept to himself, not overtly hostile or welcoming.
“He was a guy in high school who definitely had his opinions on stuff and didn’t seem to care what people thought of him,” Grant Wiens, one of Loughner’s former high school classmates told the Associated Press.
Pima County police authorities have also described Loughner as mentally “unstable.”

Posted on January 9, 2011 at 4:10pmLoughter had a page on the Daily-Kos website, his screen name was “Boy Blue”….on Jan 6th & 7th 2011 he wrote his last manifesto entitled “My CongressWOMAN voted against Nancy Pelosi”! And is now DEAD to me”! He wrote how he had spent alot of his time & money to help get her re-elected….and felt she betrayed him for voting against Nancy Pelosi. The Daily-Kos deleted his page yesterday, but different websites saved the page & comments before they deleted it. The Daily-Kos should be investigated for obstruction!

Let’s see…public approval of Congress well under 20% and declining, more of our freedoms, fortunes and futures diminishing due to the actions of our so-called representatives for decades whom we trusted were legislating to improve our lives, when instead as career politicians they’ve been enriching themselves with exhorbitant salaries, perks and gold-plated healthcare benefits bought and paid for by our hard-earned taxpayer dollars. It has come to the point that whenever I hear the phrase “hard working public servant” I just want to PUKE!

Posted on January 9, 2011 at 5:32pmI think that this is another angle of political correctness. The idea of “If you want to be a man or women of the people, you got to get out among the people” must drive security details bonkers to the point that they must not want to put their reputations on the line by guarding politicians and celebrities who insist on these type of appearances. I went to several political gatherings similar to this one in Arizona last year. I was in a small room at a fire house packed with people with Russell Pearce (wrote 1070), shortly after 1070 was passed. I now look at that as nuts. Neat to see him speak but from a security perspective, not so much. Bo Diddle would be a very interesting person ask about these security issues.

Gun laws are fine when enforced. The problem is the lefties don’t want guns, but they don’t want gun laws enforced either.
This guy never should have been allowed to purchase a gun. There are many, obvious reasons. One, in his short time at the Pima Community College, the campus police were called on him five times. That in itself should be a major red flag. Two, he posted a great deal of disturbing left-wing hate and crazy opinions on his Facebook pages and his friend’s Facebook pages. The police knew him well and admitted he had made threats against the congresswoman and others. At what point do they deny or take away a person’s right to gun ownership?
And lastly, Sheriff Dupnik has shown himself to be a total disgrace and should be replaced immediately.

She had killed her brother in Massachusetts and sent a bomb to a professor, but her politically powerful parents got her off and she was never given the mental health she needed.
This Jared kid did get into trouble with the law when the school ejected him from class by “An Officer” and was on drugs, yet his connections got kept private about him from being held accountable and allowed him to get preferential treatment. If he had not gotten deferred prosecution, he would have had a conviction and it would have been harder for him to get a gun.
The crazy political sheriff in Arizona is more responsible for allowing this crazy kid to go unpunished. They knew “Multiple TIMES” he was volatile and unstable, and yet they let him get away without charges.
I suspect the sheriff who was blaming politics, hate and bigotry was deflecting the blame from himself and his department, where it apparently belongs.

Ever since I first heard the news about the shooting and came to The Blaze , I have seen “Whiteteaparty” comment over and over and over ad nauseam, always repeating the same meme.
This obsession with “crosshairs” has become obsessive compulsive and well, boring and unoriginal.
When one wants to “target” a specific area or district on a map, what symbology is preferable?
The “crosshairs” in question are also identical to registration marks that were used in traditional graphic arts to line up overlays. They simply are two intersecting lines within a circle and in this case it is painfully obvious that no one was being singled out for any violence but merely indicating a district to be defeated.
Perhaps smiley faces would be preferable, or peace signs.
I guess there will be national hysteria in the future if anyone is unwise enough to use “bullet points” in a memo
This entire situation is sickening my soul…..other innocent people died in this massacre and to perseverate about Sarah Palin is frankly, crazy and illogical.
Report Post »I have a son that died and the anguish that the mother of the 9 yr old victim must be experiencing is unimaginable, to have so little respect in the face of all this pain and heartbreak is inexcusable.

Posted on January 9, 2011 at 4:29pmRelax everyone. “WhiteTeaParty” is not so unlike the accused in this recent shooting. Just reading the posts left by “WhiteTeaParty” you can see the similarities. My analysis would conclude that “WhiteTeaParty” is another one of these nut-jobs hanging on the edge.
“WhiteTeaParty” NEVER has ANY facts and seems to follow the same MO of a follower of a cult whose leader is way off bubble.
No I have compiled a list of dates and times where “WhiteTeaParty” has left comments and also the content of those comments. Based on the time of the comments here is what I might deduce.
Age: Adolescent to 27.
Education: Struggling or struggled through school to make low grades and was not considered popular by any means. Not athletic and never able to complete anything he/she starts. Afraid of FAILURE so tasks are left unfinished so he/she figures if task unfinished you can’t say that I failed.
Employment: Not likely but if by chance holds a very menial low level job with no satisfaction and no chance for accomplished success or growth. Dead end job.
Temperament: Quick to anger especially if you don‘t agree with and lets those that don’t agree eat at him/her for long periods of time.
Relationship: Not a chance on this one. Very lonely.
Home: Either lives in basement of parents house or a very low rent apartment with a same sex roommate. Seldom baths and nearly never does laundry. Just recycles cloths from the floor. Spends endless hours doing nothing productive at the computer or game console and usually is wearing only dirty socks, soiled underwear and a shabby out of date T-shirt. The clothing matches the lack of personal hygiene perfectly.
So, everyone.. either ignore the mentally challenged buffoon or have some fun with him/her. We all need someone to feel sorry for.

Posted on January 9, 2011 at 4:30pmWhiteTeaParty, clearly you are as disturbed as the young man who stalked this congresswoman. You need to crawl on back to the DailyKos and wait for your next instructions.

Posted on January 9, 2011 at 4:54pmWTP / idiot: still waiting for your take on the Daily Kos “targeting” Giffords by placing a “bull’s eye” on her district. Where is your outrageous outrage?
I also wonder what your take is on the fact that this maniac’s list of “favorites” included such “right wing” standards as the Communist Manifesto and Mein Kampf.
You’ll never let the facts get in the way of a good self-serving meme huh? An idiot and a hypocrite.

Report Post »Keith get off the internet spreading hate and lies. Don’t you have one of your insane shows tomorrow night to prepare for? If you don’t take your meds soon , you will lose all track of time and it will be morning before you know it. You still need time to pick out some fine piece of literatute to sit back in your chair with your pipe and read it to your audience pointing out some mundane way it relates to some imagined evil the conservatives have heaped on your world. Nighty nite Mr. Olbermann, go to sleep…….

Report Post »Sarah P. in no more to blame in this shooting than Gabby is by saying that she owned a Glock 9 mm,, the same gun the shooter bought in Nov. to plan his assination. The shooter met his victim 4 years earlier and carried a wacked out grudge because she ignoried his question. Think be4 you talk.

Posted on January 9, 2011 at 8:44pm@HILLBILLYSAM1 Do you think that just for one day you can stop throwing the hate at our President – just one day – he does not deserved to be drawn in to this discussion. Yet your hatred for him is so great that you bring him into every discussion. If we should have learned anything from the events of yesterday, it should be that the hatred has got to stop. And we all need to take the personal responsibly to stop the hatred! http://wp.me/pYLB7-v9

Posted on January 10, 2011 at 6:30amThis happened because of the invasion of illegals. Arizona’s – and the feds’ – lack of diligence regarding the border allowed this psychotic creep to walk around loose because so many resources were going to illegals. A decade or two ago, Loughner would have been hospitalized for his own protection.

Posted on January 9, 2011 at 3:32pmSadly you are right. We are “on to them” and the stunts they once pulled in the dark of night. Fact is the people that want this destruction are few, and realize that. Most of Americans are closer to in their values to teaparty than to radical left even if that’s not what drive-by media tells them.
