Report: U.S. to Cut Up to $800 Million in Aid to Pakistan’s Military

WASHINGTON (The Blaze/AP) — A report says the U.S. could suspend hundreds of millions in military aid to Pakistan unless the two countries’ fractured relations improve and Pakistan pursues militant groups more aggressively. Following months of difficult relations between the two nations, this development is not earth-shattering. The alleged amount would account for one-third of all aid the U.S. provides to the Middle Eastern nation.
The New York Times is reporting that the Obama administration is upset with Pakistan for expelling American military trainers and wants tougher action against the Taliban and others fighting American soldiers in Afghanistan. The Times has more:
Coupled with a statement from the top American military officer last week linking Pakistan’s military spy agency to the recent murder of a Pakistani journalist, the halting or withdrawal of military equipment and other aid to Pakistan illustrates the depth of the debate inside the Obama administration over how to change the behavior of one of its key counterterrorism partners.
The report cites anonymous officials saying up to $800 million in military assistance and equipment could be affected. They say equipment deliveries and aid would probably resume if U.S.-Pakistani relations improve and Pakistan proves its commitment to counterterrorism efforts. According to Ocala.com:
Altogether, about $800 million in military aid and equipment, or over one-third of the more than $2 billion in annual American security assistance to Pakistan, could be affected, three senior United States officials said.
This aid includes about $300 million to reimburse Pakistan for some of the costs of deploying more than 100,000 soldiers along the Afghan border to combat terrorism, as well as hundreds of millions of dollars in training assistance and military hardware, according to half a dozen Congressional, Pentagon and other administration officials who were granted anonymity to discuss the politically delicate matter.
Tensions between the countries have surged since U.S. forces killed Osama bin Laden in Pakistan in May. Maleeha Lohdi, a former Pakistani diplomat who served twice as an ambassador to the U.S., claims that this action is likely going to create a deeper divide between the two nations. He says:
“It will be repeating a historic blunder and hurting itself in the bargain by using a blunt instrument of policy at a time when it needs Pakistan’s help to defeat Al Qaeda and make an honorable retreat from Afghanistan.”
The White House said it didn’t have an immediate comment on the report.

Posted on July 10, 2011 at 4:11amAs long as our current political leaders from both sides of the isle continue to view Islam as a religion of peace and not the political entity it is then expect your money going to support the very people we are wasting trillions on in these wars. Their all interconnected with one main theme to glorify Allah and follow muhammad’s teaching of a world wide caliphate.

Iran will take out Saudi Arabia it’s self. LOL It will be like a fourth of July fireworks show. And, no, the USA won’t be taken over like they are all got their fingers crossed for. Saudi Arabia‘s Mecca and Damascus’, Syria are going to be turned into glass parking lots with thermonuclear detonations. It will truly be a mess, but it’s us or them. Sorry folks, Israel and the USA are the mighty right ARM of Jehova and Allah is going down to the PIT. The Bible don‘t lie and God inspired it’s words, and God especially don’t lie. Posted on July 10, 2011 at 2:29amDid they cut the program that funds thousands of Pakistani students to study in the US every year. The yearly aid includes “$39 million for students to study in the US, $45 million for higher education”.[1]. I guess $84 million would support around 8000-10000 pakistani student every year at ~10000 a student/year. How many of them are going to be like Faisal Shahzad, the time square bomber. My guess is at least 1% (more likely 5-10%). So USA get ready for a friendly Pakistani student in your kids university soon. A gift from Obama. This is the real trojan horse that Obama introduced and no one is talking about.

We got Bin Laden so use that to just call it a day and bring the troops home. I supported the war but we are now broke. It is now time to use heavy special ops and drones etc.
We can no longer defend in depth as we have always done.
I say cut the Paki military aid! Put our effort into controlling our borders by bringing the troops home. Increase our special operations and intel efforts.

Posted on July 10, 2011 at 2:16amdumb character limit…when Israel is attacked “from the north”. I am straight terrified, but not scared because of the muslim radicals, completely insane liberals, or really anyone else. I am terrified of the small fraction of Gods power that I have seen. I mean really have you ever felt anything that both transcended every human sense and became one at the same time, or as an example have you ever had a vision of your bedroom, house, or office walls fall away revealing infinity? Do we really reject or doubt God’s power?…You fools, how arrogant WE have become as humans. We are the CREATION, when we the creation come face to face with our Creator…whoa sobering experience.

Posted on July 10, 2011 at 1:59amummm…I call for all funding to immediately be given to Israel! The radical Muslims want end times okay lets give it to them, I’m ready. I am 26 years old haven’t lived what most consider a “full” life, however I have a uncanny ability to see truth, and biblical prophecy. Unfortunately, for years I rejected it, even though I have had ridiculous spiritual experiences throughout my life and have not been seeking nor asking for them at all. In fact, unfortunately, completely opposite. I have been running from them terrified. Imagine the greatest song you ever heard(if music is your thing, if not whatever it is you have an interest in), or an amazing worship service in church, and the emotional thrill that you get with it(or imagine the thrill that Chris Matthews gets with Obama, same emotional thrill, I’m guessing?). These are straight emotional feelings that play off our beliefs or interests/hobbies. Picture that feeling times infinity, or an emotional thrilling experience that doesn’t end, and crosses the boundaries of both physical and emotional, add in an involuntary physical response that literally brings you to your knees, and a loss of “space”(only can describe it as the earth, and everything falling away and all that’s left is utter and complete truth) Now add in what sounds like a multitude of beings in utter war just over your soul. I believe that is a FRACTION of what the power of the LORD is. Read Revelations, you tell me what happens when Israel is

Obama already threw Egypt under the bus. Fact is he is setting up our troops. Libya is another endeavor to get the Muslim Brotherhood empowered there. Hope Israel has enough Nukes to really do a job before they are annihilated. I’m sure Obama will not help. With the Libyan endeavor he has already exposed the weakness of NATO powers. If we read between the lines,
what the regime is saying to pakis is that if you want the aid restored, make us feel that the relations are improving .
You all know what that means , don’t you ?
The regime has forwarded a list of lobbyists, which the pakis will be ‘encouraged’ to hire for PR in a media blitz and then ……..the aid will be restored .
( Ofcourse the pakis will pay the lobbyists with the same aid money , and the lobbyists will pay the Dems and Obama )
Its just Obama and Dems throwing a tantrum for more taxpayer money .

Then it was Senator Boxer that compared our society to that of Pakistan on our stance on Gays, though we don’t kill them, like some Middle East countries, here is her quote: http://tiny.cc/l418z
