Report: White House Offered Hillary VP Spot

Ed Klein, author of “The Amateur,” on Thursday told CNBC’s Larry Kudlow that, according to a source with knowledge of the situation, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was approached by the Obama administration to replace Joe Biden as Vice President.

“Up until just a couple of weeks ago the White House was putting out feelers to see if Hillary would accept the vice-presidential nod and replace Joe Biden,” Klein told Kudlow. “Bill Clinton was, I’m told, urging his wife to accept the number two slot. He saw this as a great launching pad for her for running in 2016.”

“But then Hillary had lunch in the White House a couple of weeks ago with Valerie Jarrett — Michelle [Obama]’s best friend, senior adviser to both the first lady and the president … and she told Valerie that she would not accept the vice president’s spot. The lunch was ostensibly about other matters, but it came up. … Hillary felt burned out after four years as Secretary of State. But I’m told there were more important reasons for her not accepting,” he added.

But why did Hillary supposedly turn down the offer? Apparently, according to Klein, she felt that by accepting the VP nod, she’d damage her chances of running in 2016, which is to say she’s distancing herself from the Obama administration and its policies.

“She felt that if she were on the ticket with Obama and he lost, she would be tarred as a loser when she tried to run in 2016,” Klein said. “On the other hand, if she was on the ticket and he won, and he continued his far left-wing socialistic policies, she’d have to defend those policies when she ran in 2016 [emphasis added].”

I’m skeptical about whether this took place, and whether Obama can even make a switch at all at this point. But I don’t think Hillary would be the best choice anyway. He’d be better off trying to convince Evan Bayh or even Michael Bloomberg to sign on. I’m not sure either man would want the job, but Bayh isn’t doing anything else at the moment. And Bayh would have been a better choice in 2008, too.

      If I was Romney, I wouldn’t take a chance, I would get all the dirt ON Hillary that I could. She scares me, I know a lot of Dems who are currently voting against Obama, but would change if Hillary was on the ticket.

      En, please tell me how you can get past all of Obama’s lies. Please answer that question instead of saying “they did ot too” type answer. I really would like to know how someone can stand by a guy like Obama who has lied so much you assume he is lying until proven differently. remember he said he would only do one term if he could not turn the economy around? What it might ultimately come down to however, is who gets to rape the White House of all the good stuff still left after the Clintons stole truckloads of it when they were in the WH last time. I’m sure Michelle has a list and the trucks lined up. Plus, they have to get the current staff to take all the ‘R’ keys off the computers.

      I agree. I somehow do not expect Hillary to settle for VP. I think she will run in 2016. She and Bill have a global government scheme that will totally destroy America. How many times have you heard Bill Clinton president of the world? They are sitting back and waiting. No matter who wins in this election we will see the Clinton power in full force in 2016. If Obama gets it she will come forward to bring back the trust and will claim to rebuild the deomocratic party. If Romney gets it she knows that people in general will grow weary and angry with the sacrifices needed to get our country back on track. She will come off as a hero either way. She was the first one I ever heard say openly that she was a Progressive.The Progressives are perfectly satisfied with waiting until the moment is just right to move in and take total control. Obama has to big of an ego to share the spotlight. Michele would never take a back seat to Hillary. The Obamas want to be known for being the ones who pave the way for the progressive movent to rule the world. The power behind the Clintons will be the force to take it the rest of the way.

    I for one see the ‘08 election as a good thing:
    Obama is an incompetent b00b, and it shows with most everything he has done policy-wise. He‘s a noob to the national scale and because of repeated bungling of ’the message’ and whatnot, the Spendocrats were barely able to squeak Obamacare past.

    Contrast ‘The One’ with Hillary, she is quite politically savvy and knows how to get that Progressive **** done. The public mistakes made by the Preezie of the United Steezie would almost certainly never have happened under her watch, and if they had i dont doubt her spin would still have us reeling.

    I feared Hill-babe more than O at the time, now not so much due to a growing public awareness of just what lib t ards in general, and progressives specifically, can do with all that consolidated power.

    As for her run in 2016, dont think so now, her time has passed. I surmise we’ll see the likes of Weiner or DWS or some other weak-minded Spendocrat (i know, theres just so MANY to choose from).

    It is my firm belief that Hillary Clinton despises the Obamas and that she wants out of politics. Women do not have the stamani that men have and she is about burned out from cleaning up piles of Obama poo. Hillary Clinton is very left, but she probably has a line drawn somewhere she will not cross over into outright sabatoge against this government. I believe she is getting out to keep from going into complete exhaustion. It would seem likely that since Hillary is getting older, she needs some peace and to live her own life. She should run as far and fast as she can from that bunch of losers and repent, turn to God and help this country in other ways.

    After Hillary turned them down, the job was offered to Obama’s pet monkey Tata. The administration felt that Tata would fair better in a debate against Ryan than Joe would. The fact that Tata would work for peanuts was another consideration for the White House.
