Reports: At Least 90 ‘Emo’ Iraqi Youth Targeted, Stoned to Death by Religious Radicals

Reports have emerged that so-called “emo” teenagers are being methodically targeted and killed by religious radicals in Baghdad.
According to Al-Akhbar English, activists say at least 90 “emo” teenagers have been stoned to death in the last month following a statement from an Iraqi interior ministry that referred to the lifestyle as “devil worshiping.”
The “emo” trend — an abbreviation of the word “emotional” — originated in the U.S. as a style of punk rock music, and subsequently developed into its own alternative subculture, including with specific clothing styles and behavior, primarily among young people. “Emo” youth generally have distinctive haircuts, piercings and other accessories.
“The ‘Emo phenomenon’ or devil worshiping is being followed by the Moral Police who have the approval to eliminate [the phenomenon] as soon as possible since it’s detrimentally affecting the society and becoming a danger,” a statement posted on the interior ministry’s website said, according to Al-Akhbar English.
It continued: “They wear strange, tight clothes that have pictures on them such as skulls and use stationary that are shaped as skulls. They also wear rings on their noses and tongues, and do other strange activities.”
Religious extremists reportedly heeded the statements and began targeting and harassing teenagers with “emo” appearances.
Al-Akhbar English:
A group of armed men dressed in civilian clothing led dozens of teenagers to secluded areas a few days ago, stoned them to death, and then disposed their bodies in garbage dumpsters across the capital, according to activists.
The armed men are said to belong to “one of the most extremist religious groups” in Iraq.
“First they throw concrete blocks at the boy’s arms, then at his legs, then the final blow is to his head, and if he is not dead then, they start all over again,” one person who managed to escape told Al-Akhbar.
Iraq’s moral police was granted approval by the Ministry of Education to enter Baghdad schools and pinpoint students with such appearances, according to the interior ministry’s statement.
Al-Arabiya English reported lists have turned up with the names of dozens of teenagers who have been warned that if they don’t drop the “emo” culture they will be murdered.
The publication reported it’s hardly the first time people in Iraq have been singled out for living different lifestyles, with gays having been brutally murdered before.
A man, Abu Sajat, told Sumaria News that gays were warned before they were killed then, too.
“There is no doubt that there are serious groups that are intending to kill the “emos.’” he said, according to Al-Arabiya.

Just a curiosity of mine that will surely rankle a few here: I wonder how many of you would be as upset if you replace the word “Emo” with “****”. Given the tremendous animosity toward homosexuality any time the subject is brought up, I’m forced to wonder how far removed most of the more vile posters are from the Iraqis who are sanctioning this. If you don’t believe me, go to some of the stories regarding homosexuality and read some of the comments. You’ll find a hatred almost as vile as that espoused by these types of Muslims.

The same with Germany: A form of nationalism which quickly developed into a state religion that took bits and pieces of Christianity, Norse mythology and general occultism. Give or take, there were about 70 million Germans circa WWII. Here’s the kicker: Not all Germans were Nazis… but everyone damn well had better know there place. Hell, elements of the German military wanted to destroy the Nazi party. This is an even weaker comparison to Islam.
There a billion+ Muslims with a bastardized form of Judaism that spans some 14 centuries. Saving these people from themselves is an exercise in futility. It simply cannot be done. Any reasonable person who considers the economics alone of such a policy cannot conclude we can and should raze these lands and then attempt to rebuild them. This is a “hearts and minds” battle that is akin to p!ssing in the wind. Do you know anything about Islam? Occupation IS war to these people. Fighting a “soft war” with these people is slow suicide.

You should read the Bible more often. It will dispel the RP lies. Listen to what Jesus said:

This spiritual truth extends to nations as well. Jesus wasn’t saying, “Don’t cast the demon out.” That is insane; RP is insane. Jesus said, KILL THE ****ing enemy. THEN guard and rebuild. If you leave, they WILL come back and the country will be worst off than before. That is what Bush did in Afghanistan. He too withdrew our troops too early, because he turned his focus completely on Iraq, only Hussein is doing it purposefully.
Now, you can contend with Jesus if you like. He wrapped it up saying: “That’s how it will be with you evil people of today.” (Matt. 12: 43b). Thus, Jesus calls people who operate like Hussein or Ron Paul — by refusing to get rid of the enemy or allowing the enemy to come back stronger than before — the “evil people of today.” If you want to be one of them, then don’t go telling Jesus you had no clue when your day of reckoning comes.

Or were you establishing your “biblical superiority?” Well, since you brought it up, teachers are accountable for those they instruct, and if you are teaching RP’s view of Israel, you are in deep trouble, brother.
At first I couldn’t quite understand why a committed Christian would follow Paul. Then I realized that all of you had something spiritual in common, and that was a cold or indifferent heart towards Israel. That spiritual disconnect is the stronghold that binds Christian sheeple to Paul, and it has its roots in the false teachings of replacement theology (which you likely accept given what you just said). While you RP Christian sheeple are not like the Paulists, who are openly hostile and hate Israel, you could care less about the Father’s covenant people. Restoring the Constitution may be the political element, but it is not the one that matters to God — or Satan.
If my words fall on deaf ears so be it. I have a responsibility before God to speak truth even if it is rejected, especially when a brother has left the straight and narrow.

I’m at a loss for words regarding your son. Anything I say, including “thank you” sounds hollow. I don’t want our troops in the hands of Hussein. I vehemently oppose his agenda for them. He does not have their back. I will stand with you on the promises of Psalm 91 on behalf of your son, Gooch. We’ve gone about it the wrong way. For starters, we refuse to acknowledge that Islam is a theo-political ideology, not a religion. We can’t defeat an enemy who has not been properly defined, especially such a deadly one. At this stage we have already been invaded, so we are basically applying containment strategies.
Here are some steps forward: First and foremost, become oil-independent. No money, no jihad. Second, lend military support to the less brutal dictators (e.g., Mubarak and the Shah). When one of these “friendly foes” (we don’t have any real friends in the Muslim world), makes a move to destabilize the region, we summarily replace him. I know it’s ugly, but a full-blown war is even uglier.
Why did we have to warn Saddam? To forewarn the enemy is to invite defeat. We made a de facto declaration of war against Iraq, and we are now forcing Israel to do the same vis-à-vis Iran. That is always a recipe for disaster. Also, why do we keep letting libs and their media define the who, what, where, when and how of American policy? They need to lose their jobs as well.

We did not walk away so much as we retreated in the face of Jihad. We ran. High tailed it out of there once we realized we faced a real enemy in Islam and not the picture of peace the dawa assured us existed. They threw shoes at us, not flowers.
There is simply no way to interface with the Islamic Civilization except through total and complete war, taking territory, and eliminating Islamic culture and replacing it with Western Civilization.
Instead, all we did is assist in the ascendancy of Islam in yet another nation and upon another population. Instead of reducing Islam, and thus Jihad, we have only given it more power to destroy individual life.

People who do believe in the Devil are all too prone to see him in their enemies, as these benighted Muslims did, literally “demonizing” a subculture of harmless young people. Or they will develop a dark fascination with the Devil of their imaginings, which can lead to evil deeds in an attempt to appease a phantom. Do you remember Andrea Yates, who said, and apparently believed, that the Devil made her kill her own children? Such psychoses are all too common!
So, then, not to believe in the Devil is doing the Devil’s work, because he loves to tempt those who deny his existence? Leave the Devil out of it! People do wicked things because they choose to ignore the basic moral teachings of the great religions, which have also been the basic moral teachings of most ethical philosophers: love justice, be merciful, do unto others, and so on. If you like, evildoers turn away from God, but that does not mean there is an opposite, still less an “equal but opposite,” person who makes them do it. The Devil is an unnecessary hypothesis.
To be honest, I do remember one occasion when I felt the presence of an overwhelmingly Evil Power in my life, when I was audited by the IRS. Thanks all for your thoughtful and earnest replies.
