A Nato air strike in the Libyan capital, Tripoli, has killed the son of Colonel Muammar Gaddafi, a government spokesman has said.
Colonel Gaddafi himself was in the large residential villa which was hit by the strike, the spokesman added, but was unharmed.
His son Saif al-Arab was said to be dead, as well as three grandchildren.
Nato has confirmed the air strike, without denying or confirming the reported deaths.
A Nato spokesman said the strike had hit a “known command-and-control building in the Bab al-Azizya neighbourhood”.
“All Nato’s targets are military in nature… We do not target individuals,” said Lieutenant-General Charles Bouchard.

Report Post »EP46
Posted on May 1, 2011 at 8:22amThe son was born in 1982, so I ‘doubt’ his children are in their 20s! But it does not matter their ages. If the sons are solders and are killed in fighting that is one thing, but now in order to remove Gadhafi so the Muslim Brotherhood can take over, it is ok to kill his son and his grandchildren in their own home ? Gadhafi will never be the threat to Libya or the world that the Muslim Brotherhood are. Gadhafi was the FIRST to shout “IT WAS NOT ME” after 9/11 This is just to remove him from power, and put the Muslim Brotherhood in control. But obama will play kissy kissy with Assad of Syria, the best friend of Iran. Gadhafi must go according to obama, so we can see a new picture of Libya like the one in Egypt, showing the Muslim Brotherhood taking power. obama is helping the MB take over the Arab countries, and the only leaders he wants out are the ones who will not let the Islamic terrorist control their countries.

Posted on May 1, 2011 at 4:57amIt is tragic that we end up with collateral damage in these conflicts. But what angers me to no end is the fact of what we are allowing to go on in our name. We let rebels and their loved ones get massacred because NATO has decided to challenge the UN in a battle of incompetence. And now this, I have no love for Gadhafi, but even monsters deserve some empathy.
If we’re going to fight, let’s fight. If we aren’t going to fight, then stop loaning out US firepower to a bunch of dumpkof‘s who can’t seem to get their act in gear. Either fight or leave, no more of this halfway compromise stupidity.

Posted on May 1, 2011 at 4:00amYou have it perfectly, Silent Reader. President Obama doesn’t recognize the sovereignty of the USA. He consults the United Nations instead of our Congressional Branch, because he sees the USA as just a clog in the One World Order.
Obama is an anti-leader. He will bow and scrap to any Nation that is not steeped in “Westernized” policies. Obama is part and parcel of the “ugly” union tactics, that we have been seeing lately. Their tactics are: if you don’t agree with us, we’ll shut you down
Obama “MUST NOT BE RE-ELECTED IN 2012″. If he is, there will only be “justice” for people of color under Eric Holder. Socialized medicine will decimate the best healthcare in the World under Obama. There won’t be any right to own private property, and Obama will continue to decimate private industry. The idiot, Obama, will decide how much “anyone” is entitled to earn. This has now engaged all western cultures in a war in which we have no say. I am from overseas but pray for you all often. God bless Glenn and those who are awakened to what the future is bringing.

Posted on May 1, 2011 at 2:53amPerhaps the grandchildren of Gadhafi were adults. He’s pretty old, so they might have not been minor children. Generations are usually twenty years apart. That would be forty years between Gadhafi and his grandchildren, so the grandchildren could be in their forties.
There are variants. My youngest grandchild is 56 years younger than me, and my oldest grandchild is 49 years younger than me. That happens when one’s own children have children later in life than sooner in life.
Report Post »Diane TX
Posted on May 1, 2011 at 3:15amGadhafi is 68 years old. He’ll be 69 in June. Using the twenty years between generations rule, his grandchildren should be in their late twenties to early thirties. They are not probably innocent toddlers. Don’t forget that many middle-age adults still have grandparents alive.
“Grandchildren” of anyone, doesn’t indicate that the grandchildren are actual “children”.

I know Gaddafi is a butcher but this is not right. Western intellegence apparently knew his location. That means they knew innocents would be there also. This is turning public opinion against this whole Libya fiasco even more than before. The military is acting like fumbling bumbling idiots. Nomatter how we justify it I believe we will reap what we sow. I’ve been against this operation from the beginning. Now I’m even more convinced of the stupidity of it all. Posted on May 1, 2011 at 2:23amA big thread on Yahoo on this one. I’ll repeat what I stated there:
Here’s the problem with trying to win the war through assassination. Not including His son, we now have he death of 3 innocents and that will unfortunately lead to some ugly revenge results since that’s all these folk know. We might even see the death of several 100 Libyan folk by Kadafi’s mercenaries as a revenge which will escalate into something even more ugly. We should just have declared it a war and put ground troops in and it pretty much looks like that will for sure be required now. Again, unfortunately, even more folk will die due to our laissez faire attitude after initiating this skirmish. :)

Where he is, is Command Central, with that comes a huge risk of those around him being killed. His Son and grand kids should not have been around him and sent to a place of safety. I would not be supprise to find out he was using them as human shields and he does with innocent people. I doubt that his son was innoccent either. Christ…if are looking to assassinate him then just send in a Delta team and do it. What is the plan here? Kill him with a million dollar cruise missle and then claim it was an oops that went off course?
First we lie through our teeth about this being another “humanitarian” cause…Sheesh…we are not wanted there (even by those we are supposedly helping). All we are doing (once again) is interferring with another country’s political leadership in hopes they will install a democracy and a puppet we can control through bribes. Why do I say “hope”…you know darn well we have “advisors” in there looking for a rebel to support financially and militarily under an agreement that they will form a democracy and make deals with us.
Is this the country our founders envisioned?
Quit trying to police the world America! Especially since you are not doing it out of the goodness of your heart…but instead out of a bottomless pit of greed and deception.
If these people were worth a crap and actually tired of being told what to do and being taken care of from cradle to grave…they’d rise up and change things on their own. They don’t need us.
But that is the point isn’t it? They don’t need us…but we do need them…we want “stuff” from them so we “help” by sticking our claws into every aspect of their government, spinning our webs while hiding in the shadows and negotiating contracts for our business pals so they can get even richer than they are.
America…the land where we rush to our neighbors aid as their house burns down, willing to offer all the help we can…oh, but first sign this partnership giving us half the insurance money.
We tell our government to get out of business because they have no clue how to run one on a budget and show an actual profit…yet we can’t run a country with a flying flock either…at least not one based on honesty and the constitution…yet we tolerate them trying to run other countries from the shadows.
What a monumental disgrace we have become.
Bring our troops home…and pledge to them that in the future, their blood will only be shed for just causes…and not for oil and political backroom deals to enrich corporations.

I found it to be a very powerful image in the context of all that is going on.
Also, the crowd was actually listening to the service. Many people were visibly moved, much of what was said centering on Honor, Respect, and Responsibility. It was Britain’s own 8/28 on a grand scale.

Posted on May 1, 2011 at 5:46amI can’t think of one single reason for starting another war. Certainly it was not to save lives. Maybe Obama just wanted to see how well all his military power works. Where are all those anti-war folks? Maybe we need to explain to people the difference between a Dem war and a Repub war.

Farrakhan sure took good care of The Gloved One the last couple years of his life.
Even supplied him with body guards and employed the group that brought in that doctor.
Remember it well because it was 2-3 days before the controversial vote on
The Clean Energy and Security Act…an extremely close House vote: Passed!
There was no discussion or news coverage of the bill before the vote
because everyone was focused on the King of Pop…unexpectedly gone!
Currently, Farrakhan must be caught in the middle
between his two good buddies, Ghaddafi and Obama.
For either one, he would do…anything.

Posted on May 1, 2011 at 6:13amOK, Patriots, I’ve got a problem with the “we” some of you are using. This is the TRAITOR’s war, not America’s. He didn’t get Congressional approval. He won’t even call it a war. He does NOT represent us.

@cheezwhiz: “other hand will slap us with amnesty for illegals”
Since he virtually always does just the opposite of what he says,
Report Post »He will most likely decree Amnesty for Illegals by Executive Order!

Posted on May 1, 2011 at 9:53amRadicals don’t care if they kill our children. I am not saying it is right by no means but war is brutal. We cannot let these leaders keep running a muck. Something has to be done and yes, boy is he sly. I guess he is not a family man otherwise he would have been killed too.
