Want to Experience The Twin Towers Again? There May Soon Be An App For That

Do you want to look at the Manhattan skyline and see the World Trade Center’s Twin Towers again? One New Yorker has plans to develop an iPhone app that would do just that.
Approaching the 10 year anniversary of the 9/11/2001 attacks on America, it seems inconceivable to many that New York has still not rebuilt what the two hijacked planes brought down. For weeks and months after 9/11, there was considerable discussion about what to do at Ground Zero… Everything was on the table – from the calls for complete rebuilding of the twin towers to the considerable argument that nothing should be built on the spot where thousands of innocent people were murdered.
It was finally agreed that one building - the Freedom Tower – would be built at Ground Zero, accompanied by a stunning memorial. While construction continues apace on the building, work on the memorial should be completed in time for the upcoming ceremonies marking the 10th anniversary.

But there are still many who still see the Manhattan skyline and feel that something is missing.
Lifelong New Yorker, Brian August admits that he misses the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center and may have come up with an idea that will resurrect the two 110 stories buildings, at least in the virtual world.

Brian has taken his dream to the Internet in search of cash to fund the development of a smart phone app that would create something he calls “Augmented Reality.”
Mr. August says his app would do three simple things: orient, augment, comment. First, the app would orient you towards the site of the World Trade Center, then start augmenting the view with a silhouette of the Twin Towers (at night you would see shafts of light). You can then snap a picture and post it online with comments.
Brain’s site claims that the project is not intended to make a profit. If you are interested in helping his dream become reality, visit the “110 Stories” project page on Kickstarter.

Posted on July 21, 2011 at 7:14amThis app IMO is mainly targeted at the younger people who either weren’t born, or weren’t old enough to remember or fully digest the events of 9/11/01. Gripping video yes, but mainly to brain wash another generation into believing and“never forgetting” the 9/11 “attack” hoax.

Someone revive me after the illuminatti have shown up in black helicopters with their Reticulan overlords, have implanted their anal probes and have moved on because I don’t want to be awake when that happens.
What kind of freak do you have to be to believe a multinational, complex conspiracy theory involving hundreds of people (who, in a world where secrets are literally impossible to keep -hello, wikileaks- have all remained silent) rather than just listening to and believing the words of Bin-Laden, several al-Qaeda heads and the heads of the Taliban when they said they did it? JEEZ!

Posted on July 20, 2011 at 8:23pmGreat idea, everytime I drive down the FDR, I look to where I used to see the Trade Centers and I visualize them in my head all the time. I miss going through the underground mall around, used to get my magazines, stop in at the Warner Bros store and check out the artwork and then jump on the 1 & 9 and head down to South Ferry when I worked down in the North Financial Center tower… man I miss the Trade Centers, I miss the history of all the time I spent there, that was all taken away from me and so many others…

Posted on July 20, 2011 at 6:21pmI am one who has Never Forgot. I don’t need apps to remind me of autrocity brought forth on American soil and the loss of almost 3,000 innocents. For me recreating the Twin Towers on an app would have nothing to do with remembrance but would only deepen further my hatred of Muslim terrorists.

Posted on July 20, 2011 at 8:45pmI get it as well, I do still find myself looking for them, but do not need a phone app for remembering. I think of the loss of life and the way of life we have all experienced everywhere in the world where evil is rampant.

Posted on July 20, 2011 at 11:39amGrow up – don‘t forget BUT don’t dwell on it. We got hit. We hit back. We will be hit again.
That doesn’t mean we give up for liberty for safety (ditch the warrant-less TSA pat-downs and nude shots and do what Israel does) or that taxpayers have to pay to build AND maintain forever every attack site.
What is it with people who want to put up markers where people die whether it is on the side of a road in a car crash or the middle of a PA farmland (where they used IMMINENT DOMAIN to STEAL THE LAND – How patriotic is THAT?) to put up that plane death marker to the now non-existent twin towers.

Report Post »If you read the posted comments, especially from the stand out lib’s who track this web site, this absolutely terrifies them, because they want NOTHING, and I repeat NOTHING to remind the AMERICAN people of what happen on that tragic day when WE ALL were attacked in the most COWARDLY WAY known in history.
If in fact this was accomplished, it would also remind every American of what happened on that day.
I believe that that day has been “swept under the rug” and with the way things are now it would defiantly shed a new light on what happened that day to our great country.
Why that day does not go down in history like 12-7-41 is beyond me, unless you are for a
ONE WORLD ORDER and we should just take it in stride, LIKE WE HAVE BEEN!

Posted on July 20, 2011 at 6:11pmRM, my joke about the app was a joke. Your judgment against CRU, was that a joke? It seemed you were making a serious statement about the spiritual character of other Christians because they don’t evangelize the way you think they should, even though you have no command from God as to how churches or evangelistic societies should name themselves.
But, if you want to repent of unjustifiably accusing another Christian of denying the Lord I will repent of a tacky joke.

Posted on July 20, 2011 at 7:49pmI don’t expect this scripture to get through to you, but I’m going to post it anyway. It’s not as popular as your favorite, “judge not”, but it does apply here.
Proverbs 12, 1
Whoever loves instruction loves knowlege. But he who hates reproof is stupid.

Posted on July 21, 2011 at 3:37amRM, you have to reprove me with, well, a PROOF. If your argument falls flat because its facts are refuted it‘s rather arrogant to respond that I don’t like reproof. I like correction, as the proverb says, based in KNOWLEDGE.
And I missed where you demonstrated YOUR love of correction.
Also, I don’t use “judge not” as a prohibition against judging when facts are involved. But to leap to judgment without clear facts is another matter. Again, the question is one of evidence.
