Rev. Wright Bans Media From His ‘Bible-Based’ Sermon at a TN Church

Obama’s former pastor the Rev. Jeremiah Wright has a penchant for making headlines with controversial sermons and race-driven rhetoric.
Earlier this month, The Blaze brought you footage of the preacher unleashing his feelings on white supremacy, Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas (whom he claimed worships “some other God”) and plenty more. That clip was followed by another featuring the faith leader rapping and crotch-grabbing from the pulpit.
This week, while speaking at House of Prayer Ministries in Memphis, Tennessee, the Rev. Wright didn’t allow media inside of the church. Considering the wild videos that emerged just weeks ago, it‘s no surprise that Obama’s former faith leader continues to ban outlets from his events.
The fiery pastor has frequently argued that the media took soundbites from his speeches back in 2008 and presented them out of context. While that’s entirely possible, the clips The Blaze showed in early April were in full context, and by the standards of the average Christian church they — in many respects — would be considered troubling.
Here’s how MyFoxMenphis.com explained the most recent event, during which the media were not allowed inside to hear and report on Wright’s sermon:
But, in keeping with what’s become standard operating procedure with Reverend Wright in recent years, the media was barred from going inside to hear him speak. Wright, the fiery former pastor to then Democratic Presidential candidate, Barack Obama, obviously still feels the sting of what he felt was negative media coverage of his previously incendiary remarks concerning race and unsubstantiated allegations America was to blame for provoking the 9-11 terrorist attacks. In 2009, speaking at a conference on race, before a packed house at the University of Memphis, Wright vented his disdain for the media.
“The hostility expressed toward me by the media and the derogatory language used to describe me include ”Wright’s Rants and Raves.“ ”Wright’s crazy and divisive,” said Wright in 2009.
According to the local Fox affiliate, Wright, who spoke for nearly two hours at a prayer conference the church was hosting, apparently kept his message away from politics and focused upon more spiritual tone.
When asked to comment about what he covered, House of Prayer Ministries Administrator Regina Webster said the controversial preacher’s message was “Bible-based.”
“About just the word. Just Bible-based and how we are here to understand how we are here to understand the word and grasp more understanding from it,” Webster explained. “And for us to be greater leaders in that.”
If true, this is certainly a different tactic from what Blaze readers saw just week ago. While it’s understandable that Wright would be squeamish regarding media exploitation, one wonders: If he truly isn’t saying anything outlandish, why not let the media attend? In the end, the answer to this question should be relatively easy to arrive at.

They just lost their Church Tax Exemption and the bank account was just frozen. Of course I think a lot of churces should pay taxes if they are worth more than $50,000.00.

Our church has about 100-200 people, I guess. We’re worth well over $50,000, because our church is debt free. We own the church building. We also have satellite churches and a men‘s and women’s home for people who are trying to get off of drugs or resolve other problems in their lives. We have a printing press that allows us to distribute millions of tracts into Mexico. We have also helped start two mission churches in Mexico, and as soon as our second mission church is completely off the ground, we’ll start a third. We visit prisons in both Mexico and in America. We have a Christian school that only charges $50/month tuition+books (and the church allows people who can’t afford even that to either work it off, or receive scholarships).
We’re not a very rich church, we just manage our money well. Should the government decide to tax us, we wouldn’t be able to help as many people.
I would guess that 90% of churches are worth more than $50,000. That’s not a lot. Most of the churches that I’ve visited are worth more than that. I can think of maybe one church that was not… and that was a mission church in Italy that probably had 10 to 15 families that attended.

He is basically not a Christian who is supposed to follow two main dictates : to love God above all things, and to love your neighbor as yourself. Somehow I do not hear a message of love when I hear the words of Rev. Wright. Pray for him .

Thus it is in the culmulative of their deeds, actions and words we see where Wright stands; with his rotten spiritual fruits being displayed. I will pray for him and for those under his spell, so that the honest truth will shine home, and may some or all of them turn back and be saved.

My question is this….If he is a Christian minister, as he claims, why is he banning ANYONE from a Bible based message? Hmmm? As Christians, we all are charged with spreading the message of Jesus Christ, and here is a man that supposedly is a leader in that respect banning folks that just may need to hear that message. I suspect, as many probably do, that this will be just another in a long list of racist rants coming from the mouth of a hate-filled individual. Blacks have a different culture than whites. Just like whites when they are saved by Jesus, they are the finest people on earth. In the past, the only actions that I have condemned in some blacks is racism towards whites, loose morals, and a lot of profane language. Whites have caught up and as bad or worse. What I have always loved about blacks generally is their honesty. I trust my black friends much more than many white friends. I am white -so what. Technically the only person that is really white is anemic and void of any tan.
To me RACISM is the dumbest thing that Satan ever came up with and only the ignorant, foolish, or hate filled fall for the con job. We are all God’s creation and all brothers and sisters back to Noah and then back to Adam. The only difference is ‘skin deep’ and based on our belief systems and prejudices from there.

They successfully stirred up their base, got gun control in their gun sights, and now Color of Change has bullied corporations into not supported voter ID. Were able to have a nice military slam with the LA Times photos, and the Colombia scandal. These guys have an agenda. They play it quite well. It is all scripted theater . Many African Americans of history are examples I admire and learned of: Harriet Tubberman the ‘Black Moses’ of the underground railroad; scientist George Washington Carver; and two of my personal teachers Bill and Oreilla Marshall.
Pastor Wright is the case of when Lord Jesus said “By their fruits you shall know them…” of a man whos deeds, actions and words consistantly show bad fruits contrary to the spiritual fruit of God.
