Richard Land on the Nation’s Spiritual Crisis: ‘If America Dies, She’ll Die From Self-Inflicted Wounds’

Richard Land, president of The Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention, told the audience at “Under God: Indivisible“ that America is ”at a fork in the road.”
Rather than facing a choice between going left or right, Land said that America is weighing a decision that will lead her to take an upward or a downward trajectory.
“If America dies, she’ll die from self-inflicted wounds,” he opened the speech, with the audience reluctantly agreeing. “We face a far greater peril from our own immorality and our own adultery than we ever faced from the British army or the German air force of the Japanese navy or the Soviet missile command.”

Land told the audience that the future of America depends upon “what the saved people do.” It is Christians, he said, who hold the responsibility to set the dangerous course the nation is taking back on track.
“[We face] a Titanic struggle between those who want to remake America and those who want to restore America,” Land continued. “There are some forks — once they’re taken, you can’t go back.”
The audience cheered his message on, as land reiterated the need for Christians to step up to the plate.

There is good and there is bad (some call it evil) in this world. Bad is far more magnetic than good.
It is far easier for people to do something bad then to do something good because doing something bad feels good, tastes good, gives the feeling of power and satisfies man’s primordial need.
It takes willpower to be good, re: go to church on Sunday, not swearing, not cheating, not lying, not philandering etc. It does not take will power to be bad, it simply fulfills a NEED. “I’m not going to church I NEED to sleep in, I NEED to swear, I’ll NEED to cheat because no one will ever know” etc.
The point is this: As long as people live on “easy street” bad will always overrule their behavior and that is why the present government is so willing to dish out all the free benefits re: food stamps etc. It corrupts society.
Only under great hardship does the good in most people come to the forefront of their behavior, until then you can expect the society to continue to degenerate.
Unfortunately, today’s society is in such a low state of degradation that it is nearly impossible for it to be restored. Bottom line: we’re going to need a miracle to fix things folks.

Standing in line to buy tickets to watch someone on the screen use our Lord’s name in vain. If Christians refused to watch a movie with cursing, the movie industry would change by tomorrow morning. So why do Christians buy tickets to watch a movie that sinfully takes the name of our Lord? Would you buy a threatre ticket to watch your mom be disrespected? Then why do you buy a ticket and vote with your money to watch your Lord be disrespected? It’s time for Christians to stand for the glory of God and be salt and light. By the way, where are all the pastors in this fight against satan? Silent in the pulpit and no where to be found.

He can save a country if he can find righteous people in it and running it. I was an atheist until someone chose to love me inspite of me and then shared the truth with me many years ago. At the end of it all the only thing we will be judged upon is how well we loved both God and our fellow man, including enemies.

We have also, conditioned a large portion of our people to believe that the government should help those above. (liberal feel good types/hollywood etc). Then you have the Unions who are communists fro their creation years ago. Most of our youth have been taught by the liberal communist agenda.
There are fewer and fewer of us patriots and workers that still believe in our constitution.
In my opinion the secular progressives jumped the gun by 10 or so years. We may still have a chance to bring Obama down with all his backers.
There however, is No chance to stop the inevitable world wide depression that will befall the planet within 2-4 years.
Be prepared for things to get worse and evi/ugly – what we come out the other end will be whats most important.

Report Post »One must be spiritually pure and coming to the Lord in the spirit of repentance and truth so He can use us; but when starts off in religion (christianity and it’s thousands of denominations), you’re doomed to fail.
How many times did the Lord send His prophets to declare His word to Israel and they killed them? How many times did Israel repent and a short time later, turn away from Him once again? America is just like ancient Israel and will kill any prophets who speak against her who come in the name of Jesus.
There may be a remnant still stuck in the religion of christianity, but they must ‘come out of her’ so that the Lord can use them. If not, it‘s just religionists patting each other on the back telling one another it’ll be okay, but failing completely in their endeavor.

Good old-fashioned time travelers. Our story could even be on a re-play cycle, but in each re-play we’re given a little more guidance until we finally make the right decisions.
Seen from an Obama watch tower, we the people are meat & bones, personally selected for one statistic or another, and reminded more about our weaknesses than strengths. But seen from God‘s or Spirit’s watch tower, we are souls & lights that yearn to purify.
It just feels more and more as if theories about the end of days, armaggedon, or the coming of Christ may have something to do with time travelers returning soon to see if we found their clues and chose to work in their favor. Like the little chimp flying thru space & touching down in Planet of the Apes, and all the monkey soldiers bowed on their knees saying, he returned as promised.
For some reason it’s easier to imagine each day as a story already written, and once you become aware of that, it’s easier to see the big picture. As if a wave of universal information, or an encoded beam of solar radiation, has been absorbed by my DNA, becoming a part of me. Maybe God is half-sun.
If this is universal as I suspect, it may have influenced this sudden “super hero” insanity lately. You feel more mechanical or somehow ultra-human and the emphasis is on ACTION.

Of course, many people are not Christians, so the tenets of Libertarianism won’t cause them any conflict. Christians who embrace a certain strain of Libertarianism espoused by the likes of Ron Paul especially need to think more deeply about their commitments because they are inconsistent spiritually and politically. Libertarianism espouses centrifugal forces… communism and facscim espouse centripetal forces… but Christianity preserves and balances both, in a universal Te Deum that “CIRCLES” the One God who is Trinity… Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We Christians affirm this as a narrative… “in the beginning God, (Who is THREE persons in ONE substance… a community, not a collection) created the Heavens and the Earth, and finally human beings in HIS image.” So from the very get go, “relationships” have been part of what it means to be a person, and by extension, a human person. Christians don’t believe that society/community was “contracted…” rather, they hold that it has been part of the fabric of reality from eternity because the Trinity is a community. Note, though, that the Christian doctrine of the Trinity does not do away with the idea of individuality per se, instead, it properly defines it in terms of “personhood,” locating and balancing it “in relationship” to community. That community is not an intellectual construct, but a real, existing, living reality.

We had a primary in my state that we expect the delegates to vote according to the choice of the citizens as specified by that vote. However all I have heard from the aPaulogists is that the PaulBots are going to ignore the votes of the citizens of my state and vote for Paul – the will of the people be darned ’cause just like a leftist, Paulbots “know” what is best for us -we are just too Rino-ish, neo-con -ish, progressive to not worship at the feet of Dr. Paul.
So for our own good the Paulbots are going to ignore us and in a huge tyrannical though somehow constitutional and moral move, vote for Paul to be the Repub nominee. I am supposed to embrace RP and his supporters why? This move makes RP or his supporters any different a tyrant than Obama how?

I don’t think that God WANTS Glenn pointing that out and I would not be surprised to hear that God impressed on his heart for him NOT to focus on it. That is something that is only for the faithful followers of Christ, who can follow the signs themselves without a radio personality pointing it out.

I love Richard Lamb, and respect his work with the AFA, and believe he knows what time it is. The signs are there to use for God’s glory and purpose. A man of God of his stature could potentially help draw a lot of people out of Babylon and maybe ameliorate a good bit of the pain that we are setting ourselves up for. Maybe even open some hardened hearts to the truth of what is coming.

Satan comes first, to deceive and enslave and murder. He comes in the guise of Christ, performing miracles and wonders. Dangerous for the uninformed! If our knowledgeable mentors have even half a chance of waking one person up, they should at least try. I know about “the spirit of slumber” that is laying on so many, but we should try and sound the alarm. I’m sure educated, influential people, like Lamb, could do so much more than a dolt, like myself, can.

That’s a pretty good summation of it. An additional factor is the way that all this GLOOM TALK is INFECTING all of us, reinforcing a sense of despair and hopelessness and negativity. And all that GLOOM & DESPAIR is just going to make it that much harder to REBUILD AMERICA. So maybe we each should try harder to follow Philippians 4:8:
