Rick Perry Latest to Skip Donald Trump Debate

Rick Perry Wont Participate in Donald Trump DebateTexas Gov. Rick Perry has joined fellow GOP presidential contenders Mitt Romney, Ron Paul and Jon Huntsman in turning down an invitation to participate in a Republican debate moderated by Donald Trump.

The Perry campaign said it “respectfully declined the invitation” in a statement Thursday, citing the need to meet with Iowa voters for some “traditional retail campaigning.” The debate, scheduled for Dec. 27, is just six days before the Iowa caucuses.

“Gov. Perry will be in Iowa almost continually, meeting with real voters, doing town hall meetings and events and talking American jobs, faith and overhauling Washington, D.C. to Iowa voters,” the statement from Perry spokesman Ray Sullivan said.

Perry “has talked to Donald Trump in recent days and respects him and the folks at Newsmax very much,” Sullivan added.

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum are the only two candidates to confirm they will attend. Santorum said earlier this week he couldn’t see how Trump would be “any worse” a debate moderator than other members of the mainstream media.

Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann has not yet made her plans known.

Perry’s announcement came the same day Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus said the Trump-moderated debate was “a problem” given the mogul’s flirtation with making a presidential bid of his own.

“We appreciate what Mr. Trump has done, but if you’re still talking about potentially running as an independent candidate, I think that’s a problem,” Priebus said on Fox News. “I think that would be malpractice for me as an RNC chairman to not believe that that is an issue.”

Come on Rick, you stood before the liberal media and answered some of their asinine questions. I would rather have Trump question me than a pundit that has an agenda to make me look bad. Trump can do no worse. Maybe Trump he should run for president (as a Republican of course), because he is not afraid of anyone or any question. He knows what he believes, and would stand up fearlessly for his opinions. Can’t you do that Rick?

Nilo, The problem is that Trump has not ruled out an Independent run for President. He has hinted that when his contracts for his reality show is over in May he may run. With that, he has no business moderating a debate with candidates he might have to debate in the 2012 election. Why would any candidate put themself in that position? I sure would not. I think Santorum should come out and decline at this point and let Gingrich stand alone. With Newt’s flip flops over the years, he should have no problem debating himself.

They won’t attend a debate from someone who is by far a more smarter (pun intended @ McCain/MSNBC) person than all the leftist, liberal, commie loving, muslim loving crowd in the MSM put together. All the lame a$$ excuses as to why they won’t attend is BS, pure and simple. This is why I have no intention on voting for any of them. If they can’t stand up against Donald Trump and take on the hard questions and not the “gotcha” questions from the MSM idiots, they don’t need to be my President. These bunch of woosie candidates claiming to be conservatives make me sick.
If the American people don’t demand that we have a debate with someone who will ask the HARD questions, we deserve 4 more years of that lying POTUS Barry. His speech said we don’t deserve any better, we’re stupid, we’re lazy. You know what, maybe, just maybe he is right. We keep exhibiting that type of behavior every day, more and more.

Michele Bachmann has now just confirmed that she is bailing on Trump’s presidential edition of The Apprentice:

    “Bachmann Declines Trump Debate Invite
    by Joy Lin | December 08, 2011

Michele Bachmann is not participating in Donald Trump’s NewsMax debate in Iowa, her spokesman said Thursday.

Bachmann is the final GOP contender to RSVP, and in doing so joins a long list of candidates — Rick Perry, Mitt Romney, Ron Paul and Jon Huntsman — who have declined the invitation.

Only Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum have agreed to participate in the Des Moines debate.

The Minnesota congresswoman has visited the reality television celebrity four times at his Trump Tower office.”

If the RNC chooses Newt or Romny I will write in Bachmann or Santorum. They are the only two who have not flip flopped on the issues just to get votes. The rest will tell you what you want to hear to get elected. We fell for that with the hope and change thing, also with the transparent governing lie.
Newt has been part of the problem in Washington for the last 40 yrs.
Romney is … well Romney is Romney, I would not vote for him simply because of his record.
    I just don’t trust him.

I do like Perry, I think he is a Republican that will not only protect small business but also help the working man. Something the Democrats of my grand fathers day did. The middle class really have no one looking out for them. The Progressive liberals have hyjacked the Democratic Party and the old time Republicans like Newt and Romney are more concerned with Wall Street than Main Street. We need a third party that will defend small business and the working man.

Want to make the libs wee wee in their pants? Elect Bachmann and let her choose Palin for VP.

Whoooo weeeee. Blood would shoot out their ears and eye sockets.

Bachman is the only one with enough guts to fight Obama. I might consider Perry,

Here’s how I feel about Newt: Some politicians will say whatever people want to hear to get elected and then do whatever they please after being elected to further their hidden agenda (e.g., Obama); some politicians believe what they say and will try to persuade the electorate that their vision is the best for America (e.g., Reagan); some politicians will say whatever people want to hear to get elected, but then will try their best to do what the people elected them to do, which is how I think of Newt. This election, someone like Newt is good enough for me.

Romney is another story, though, and he’s the same class of politician as Obama. If it’s Romney, I’ll be staying home on election day for the first time since being old enough to vote. Worst case scenario if Obama wins is that the House will stay Republican, the Senate will pick up a few more Republican seats and there will be gridlock for 4 more years. That doesn’t bother me one bit.

I‘m not kicked up on the idea of Trumps’ debate either, but
when they THOUGHT there was something to gain from it – they considered it.

THEN, Hunstman with his smart-alic attitude and grumpy (Paul) backed out.
They didn’t turn down the invitation gracefully, but added their little comments,
about ” kissing the ring, which wasn’t necessary – but they were trying to
humiliate the others who might or had accepted.

When Huntsman/Paul poked fun with that phrase, those who
HAD ALREADY ACCEPTED – DIDN’T BACK OUT!
Those who HADN’T YET ACCEPTED – SCATTERED LIKE CHASED-CHICKENS!

Yes, Perry could probably benefit the most, from the exposure.
NO ONE would even miss Huntsman….
but I will say, Ron Paul is one grumpy, sneaky, cronic- complainer,
who wouldn’t make a good POTUS anyway.
Mr. LEAVE EVERYBODY ALONE – WANTED TO BE ALONE, I GUESS!

WATCH THE NEXT MOVE OF HUNTSMAN & PAUL -
I think they are going to be the SPOILERS TO THIS ELECTION –
and could give Obama his BEST CHANCE OF WINNING.

If no one except Newt & Santorium shows up for this debate –
I HOPE THEY MAKE IT AN EXCEPTIONAL DEBATE …
LEAVING THOSE OTHER “FRAIDY-CATS” HANGING & BLOWING IN THE WIND.

    THAT’LL show them!

Perry had the perfect chance to look like a real contender
by showing up at this debate, especially after Romney chickened out.
Double the “Pluck, Pluck, Pluck…Pluck-Pluck !

What a fool, anyone showing up would show he has “MOXIE”,
especially in light of the other no-shows.
Showing up on a stage with Newt Gingrich can only make that person look just as capable.

These “other” guys are getting BAD advice from their “people”-
it shows that they are not astute enough to make a wise decision on their own.
Who the hell would want any of them for President ?

Perhaps, Michelle Bachmann will put on the BVD’s and show up to shame them all-
that will raise her standing 100 fold.

Heard Huntsman complain that “Trump was mocking the presidential race by turning
    it into “info-entertainment”.
Now, that is really a laugh, considering the juvenile videos his three young daughters
    have done….on Papa’s behalf.

If it ends up to be just a conversation between Trump & Gingrich,
the public will still be better served by it.
Remember folks, politics have changed forever, thanks to the Tea Party-
the American people do not have to abide by Republican or Democratic whiplashing.
We set the rules, now, no NEED for their cronyism & sarcasm.
Trump is going where no man dare to go-
    setting the agenda without flinching.

The weak media & pundits know this debate will demolish THEIR relevance-

Everyone that is backing out of the debate IMO is to scared to answer some of the questions that he is going to put forward. And I have heard that they may be worried about he may run. to me that is a cop out, Rush said that first I think and it has given them an excuse to op out. Donald won’t run, he is just stirring the pot as usual. If you don’t turn up to this debate you have no bloody b*lls as far as I’m concerned. I cannot understand for the life of me why so many are dismissing Trump moderating this debate. He has a huge following will get high ratings (not that it is the goal). May I be so bold to suggest they are dodging him b/c they will get asked tough questions? Is it safe to assume that those dodging this debate and make excuses why they wont attend is because they know they wont be asked the typical softball questions?!

Ron Paul for instance will be destroyed.. YES I said destroyed, on foreign policy regardless of whatever spin he tries to put on it with his typical invocation of the Constitution. Take note he NEVER cites what part he is referring to(granted sometimes its obvious). The last guy that wasnt questioned on what he was saying to rally voters ended up getting elected and has made history in being the worst POTUS in US history! So its pretty safe to assume Paul is running scaed of the Donald b/c he knows someone will finally take him on head to head on his insane isolatonist foreign policy.

Huntsman bailing is a no brainer, he clearly is a tool of China. Trump has made it clear on how he feels about China and their “bullying” of the US and world. So of course Huntsman will bail b/c Trump will take him apart on China.

Ya see its the fact that Trump is out of the box and speaks his mind IMO those bailing fear. They of course LIE, try to belittle and trivialize Trump where they will pay the price. http://SavingtheRepublic.com

      ========================================

      False…..

Watch Ron Paul in 1997 and again in 1999 predict terror attacks on the U.S. because of current (and present for that matter) foreign policy at that particular point in time:

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BnPV2xea2ro

Nobody listened to him or believed him though (just like they didn’t listen to him or believe him when he predicted the 2008 Mortgage Meltdown on September 10, 2003 on the floor of the House):

bnhe Here’s Ron Paul on Israel. I’m sorry, but of ALL the candidates, I believe Ron Paul is the BEST candidate to represent Israeli Amercian interests:

Newsmax: What should our relationship be with Israel?

Ron Paul: We should be their friend and their trading partner. They are a democracy and we share many values with them. But we should not be their master. We should not dictate where their borders will be nor should we have veto power over their foreign policy.

This is not just about Israel, by the way, this is about how we should conduct ourselves with other countries around the world.

Newsmax: But Israel is not like other countries. We have a large Jewish population in America. What do you say to those who criticize your policy toward Israel?

Ron Paul: I think that some not only misunderstand the American Constitution and the role we should have in the world, they also misunderstand Zionism. Part of the original idea of Zionism, as I understand it, was that there should be Jewish independence and Jewish self-reliance. Today, America doesn’t want anyone to be self-reliant. We want to rule the world and be the saviors of the world and we are going broke in the process.

Newsmax: Some object to your policy of cutting foreign aid to Israel.

      Consider this:

Newsmax: Some object to your policy of cutting foreign aid to Israel.

Ron Paul: I have objected to all foreign aid. I define foreign aid as taking money from poor people in rich countries and giving it to rich people in poor countries. We just can’t keep doing this. We don’t have the money anymore.

Stop and consider America’s policy: We give $3 billion a year to Israel in loans; and we give $12 billion or more in assistance to Israel’s self-declared enemies. Some of these are countries that say they will drive Israel into the sea.
      **************
      **************

Newsmax: What do you say to evangelical Christians who want that aid to continue?

Ron Paul: I say to them that our aid in the region is out of balance and it is wrong. Foreign aid does not help Israel. It is a net disadvantage. I say to them that “the borrower is servant to the lender” and America should never be the master of Israel and its fate. We should be her friend.

In October, 1981, most of the world and most of the Congress voiced outrage over Israel’s attack on Iraq and their nuclear development. I was one of the few who defended her right to make her own decisions on foreign policy and to act in her own self-interest.

It seems almost like they’re rooting on a football team in a bowl game rather than on an election that could very realistically make or break our republic.
I would only add that Ron Paul is favored among independent voters (who will ultimately decide the general election) and disenfranchised Democrats far more than any other Republican. I honestly believe that Paul is the only Republican that can beat Obama.

Glenn Beck said, “There’s something happening in America. That Americans are beginning to disconnect with both Parties. And they’re becoming much more like the founders. Some. And, the founders would’ve said, ‘We’re friends to everybody, and enemies to nobody. We mind our own business.‘ America doesn’t have the money or resources anymore to be the Policemen of the world. Explain to somebody, what it means to stand by Israel. We have to go over and fight wars, with you? Or, what does it mean?”

Former Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations Dore Gold promptly answered Beck’s question, “That is PRECISELY the point. Israel never asked the United States to risk the lives of American troops to defend it… We don’t want American troops or any other troops defending Israel. We want to fulfill the doctrine of the founder of Israel, David Ben-Gurion, of self-reliance – that ISRAEL DEFENDS ITSELF BY ITSELF. And what we ask for from the United States is diplomatic support so we can maintain that position.”

“My friends, you don’t need to do nation building in Israel. We’re already built. You don’t need to export democracy to Israel. We’ve already got it. You don’t need to send American troops to defend Israel. We defend ourselves.” Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, – May 2011 before the U.S. Congress

Bachmann will excuse herself forsure. No need to have a debate with the Donald after all. Why in the world did Newsmax ever ask Trump to be a moderator while he says he may be a contender is beon me. It just doesn’t make sense. Will they all have a chance to ask the questions. This will be for sure the third time Donald says he may run. He will NEVER run, it’s all about exposure. How many times does he use the world I?

I can’t believe anyone still even thinks Donald is serious. He just uses it as a ploy whenever he needs some publicity…books, tv contract renewal or any other self-serving situation.

Yes, Ron Paul is exposed as the only candidate that is PRO sovereignty for Israel. He is the only candidate that agrees with their own Prime Minister, and he is the only candidate that would not get in the way of Israel’s defense.

If you want the people of Israel to be safe, don’t allow them to be dependent on us. If they are dependent, look what happens when someone like Obama gets power, they become vulnerable. Israel needs to be strong and independent, and they should not be interfered with by our government. Ron Paul wants to remove our power to determine their fate, so they can thrive.

Please understand this, as if you love the people of Israel, you must do your homework!

It is time to cut the leash (the aid) that grows local socialism inside Israel, makes her weak and prevents her from trading with countries US gov does not like.

Do you see WHY I call Ron Paul a CRONIC COMPLAINER?
In this video – he’s COMPLAINING that no one invited him to be on the forum-
YET, when he IS invited, he turns it down.

P.S. I also think THAT INTERVIEW WAS STAGED.
No doubt, the interviewer was one of his wacky supporters – notice how INTENSE
he tried to appear and HOW RELAXED THE CRONIC COMPLAINER WAS?

Thanks for the video – everyone should take a LQQK!

So why are the candidates so quick to dismiss the Donald. Are they afraid of the questions? Donald Trump is a business man, we need to see how the candidate would treat the American business owners.

CHICKEN, CHICKEN CHICKEN – for those who decline.

I don‘t think Newt would turn ANYONE down to debate because he’s confident he can out-debate them all and he probably can, including Trump himself. On the other hand, the other candidates know this too, which probably plays a role in their decision to skip Trump’s offer. Fox’s Dec 15th debate will be interesting because the subject is going to come up I bet. Something tells me every candidate (except Newt Gingrich) is going to look nervous that night. (Dec 15th) I know I would be.

      “You’re Fired!” (LOL!)

“The Republican presidential primary will be reality TV, Donald Trump to moderate debate in Iowa
      JONATHAN LEMIRE
      Friday, December 02, 2011

The next contestants on “The Celebrity Apprentice” appear to be Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich and the gang.

Donald Trump announced Friday he will be moderating a Republican presidential debate, grilling those who would like to hear the TV star’s signature line – “You’re hired” – for the highest office in the land.”
      http://articles.nydailynews.com/2011-12-02/news/30469659_1_trump-tower-donald-trump-michele-bachmann

Personally, I believe that Kim Kardashian or Snooki from Jersey Shore would do a better job as debate moderator than The Donald.
