Rick Perry Flubs Legal Voting Age During NH Speech

While speaking to a crowd of eligible voters during a campaign appearance at a New Hampshire college on Tuesday, GOP presidential candidate Rick Perry made a curious error. It wasn’t as serious as the accusations that have been waged against fellow Republican candidate Herman Cain — sexual harassment and infidelity — but it was embarrassing nonetheless.
The L.A. Times reports on the newest addition to the growing list of Perry’s speaking blunders:
“Perry, who during a recent Republican presidential debate struggled for nearly a minute to remember the third agency on a list of three federal departments that he said he wanted to eliminate, slipped up just as he was wrapping up his prepared remarks at his third of four events in the Granite State.
‘Those of you that will be 21 by Nov. 12th, I ask for your support and your vote,’ Perry said to a crowd that included college students.
‘Those of you who won’t be — just work hard — because you are going to inherit this and you’re counting on us to get this right. The idea that you’re looking at a $15-trillion debt, that you’re looking at entitlement programs that will not be there for you if we continue on this path, is not fair to you and it’s not right.’
The minimum voting age in the United States is 18.”
Aside from Perry’s overt error on the legal voting age, no one is quite sure what’s happening on the date he mentioned. The general election is set for Nov. 6, 2012, and New Hampshire’s first-in-the-nation primary is on Jan. 10. He made these comments while speaking at Saint Anselm College.
The Associated Press reports that the flub caused some whispers in the crowd.

Am so sure the New York Times will have it and enable their Lefty readers to excoriate not only Perry but ALL conservatives – they love articles that encourage Republican Character Assassination comments ! Not that the Lefty MSM ever mentions any of the Obama present flubs or his mysterious past ….

Posted on November 30, 2011 at 9:22amThe voting age should be 21. Look at the politics in these college towns. The professors “brainwash” these young mushbrains, then they go vote. Salt Lake City is a good example, when you compare it to the rest of Utah.

Posted on November 29, 2011 at 6:36pmAMEN. You have to be very bright to be a fighter pilot. I wonder how many of his critics speak well in front of an audience? It’s his consistency of beliefs and love of America that I pay attention to. And, while I’m at it, it‘s a crock that he couldn’t debate Obama. Perry has principles, BO has mindless rhetoric. Perry has heart, BO has ideology. Perry would wipe the floor with BO, with God’s help.

Reagan did the smart thing. He ignored the teleprompter and just went off his notes.

I can guarantee Rick Perry, who served America as a fighter pilot, has more brains than you do, and would never diss our military like Newt did on O’Reilly last night. When asked if he’d put National Guard on the border, he said: “I would be willing to reinforce, there’s a profound reason to not get the military too close to the drug dealing because of its enormous potential for corruption.” Really? Our troops can‘t be trusted too close to drugs and drug lords because they’re easily corrupted!

At least drop out of the race with some respect and a decent showing and admit there are better candidates in the field for the Presidency. Enough already.
