Obama’s Team Continues to Claim Rick Perry Has Secessionist Sentiments

Obamas Staff Alludes Rick Perry To Secession Again

In an interview with Savannah Guthrie on Meet The Press Sunday morning former White House press secretary and current Obama For America campaign advisor Robert Gibbs once again alluded to the notion of Texas Gov. Rick Perry having secessionist sentiments. An assertion that was already categorically invalidated before Gibbs spoke of it for the second time in six days, and an assertion The Blaze took to task before, too.

“Rick Perry is the governor who two years ago openly talked about whether Texas should leave the union. I think for Rick Perry to have at one point talked about secession from the union as early as 2005, I think it‘s good that he’s professed his love for his country.”

On Tuesday, the Alabama-raised senior Democratic press operative expressed similar opinions that Gov. Perry, who served in Europe, South America, and the Middle East as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force, must have had a “remarkable turnaround” since 2009 and just now “this campaign has caused him to profess his love for the United States.”

Current White House Press Secretary Jay Carney first implied that Perry “wanted to secede from the union” before his predecessor floated the notion twice. On the same day Gibbs made his first claim relating to Perry ever wanting to lead Texas out of the union, Pulitzer Prize-winning PolitiFact.com determined the notion to be false:

“We rated Perry’s recap of his 2009 remarks Mostly True because he didn’t acknowledge in the later interview either his position that Texas has the right to secede or his initial speculation about ‘who knows what may come’ from people angry about actions in Washington.

Also, in June 2010, Democratic gubernatorial nominee Bill White said Perry had threatened to secede, a claim we rated False.

Via the Nexis search tool, we found 169 major newspaper articles as of that time linking Perry and secession. But none quoted Perry threatening to push for secession, though critics and comedians framed his words in that way.

Our conclusion was that in a politically theatrical moment, Perry stated an old (and factually incorrect) claim that Texas retains the right to leave the union. That is not the same as his saying giddyap, I want to leave. Perry didn’t call for secession then and hasn’t since.

We rate Carney’s statement False.”

From Ed Schultz’s Black Cloud to Chris Matthews’ Perry/Bull Connor comparison to a story linking the Obama campaign planning to portray Mormon candidate Mitt Romney as “weird,” some commentators have expressed frustration that it seems that the left has gotten away with race-baiting and prejudice campaigning in this early primary season with nothing more than a few half-hearted apologies. The Washington Examiner’s Timothy P. Carney writes on the perceived double standard:

“Liberals commonly charge conservative politicians with employing racial ‘dog-whistle politics’: speaking in code to excite white racism while maintaining plausible deniability.

Dog whistles are real — and Republicans do employ them — but Carney, Gibbs and Rangel sure look like they are blowing on a dog whistle of their own. Team Obama talks about Perry and birth certificates, secession, and slavery, setting the tone without having to actually charge racism — they leave that up to the talking heads who hear the whistle.”

It’s been two and a half long years since the inauguration of “Hope,“ ”Change,“ and ”Yes We Can.” Do you think this administration has brought out the political and social transformation which many voters were sold on in 2008?

Or just the worst in American politics.

      Think N U L L I F I C A T I O N guys. The constitution provides us with power 10th amendment say:

      “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”

      They have overreach and it is time for the Sovereign states to reverse the travesties of this administration or any such tyrannical administration. We should just use the power of nullification to reverse Obamacare, secret Agenda 21 program initiated by executive order. This is not an act of Secession but to prevent the necessity of something as destructive as another civil war.

      My old roommate was Texan and he spoke of secession and the ability to break off from the U.S. Funny they also talked of Texas being the largest state but it is only a third of the size of Alaska.

      At an anti-Tax rally, Gov. Perry in 2009 did talk about those who would like to secede, they are right about him doing that: http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D97JO2700&show_article=1.       Rick Perry has said the first priority is the union. Texas is one of the few states that reserved the right in it’s constitution to sucede from the union if need be. I live in Texas (not a native) and if Texas decided to sucede, I would be with them in this instance.

      Perry should file a lawsuit against to Obama camp for deformation of character and more importantly orginizing a campaigned based in heresay to keep him from getting employment. If anyone did this to a private citizen it would be in court. Well telling outright lies to hurts someone‘s chance’s of finding employment is against the law and Obama campaign just did it.

      1 in 3 texans aren’t texans/americans, I‘m surprised their test scores aren’t much lower, and their health insurance rates much higher. Why do liberal morons want the poor to have health insurance in the first place? Every city/county in the nation has free health clinics for the poor, all giving the poor health insurance does is screw up the middle class that will now have to pay for the health care of the poor with zero help from the rich any more.

      I’m not a Texan, only wish I could be, but I LOVE TEXAS with all my heart.
      My sister lives in Texas and I hear firsthand what’s what. Their insurance is not higher (prob. depends on which state you live in) in fact it sounds like she has more perks than I have in my state.
      If I lived in Texas I’d vote for secession, because Texans deserve better than what our Government keeps trying to dish out and refuse to help the border states seal the borders. Do you realize what additional costs each state covers for all the illegals?
      They are going broke paying for illegals to go to school, have free medical, assisted housing, welfare and food stamps, Our own who are border-line poor can’t collect most of these freebees. Hell Yes! Close the borders! Vote for Rick Perry, don’t swallow the hateful stuff from the libs who creep on this site giving bad info and LIES. Perry decided to listen to the people, unlike your president Obama, also the snippets of conversation throughout this video are barely audible, kind of like the sightings of bigfoot, UFO’s and the Yeti.       The dangers go beyond this administration. Do you seriously believe that they just sprang up one day and concocted this plan? They have been working at it for a very long time. They are a relative small part of the population so to achieve the overthrow of our constitution they need divide the people. This much is obvious, when even a confirm communist like Van Jones goes around publicly talking about Bottom up–Top down–Inside out that’s the communist/Marxist agenda.     And Obama cannot even prove he is a citizen of the United States. We have no records of what country Obama is from, what country he is a citizen of. We have absolutely nothing about his life, no foot prints in America, no school records in America, nothing but a forged birth certificate. If Obama had to forge a birth certificate that is very good reason to believe he is from another country, and certainly not eligible to be the President of the United States. The conspiracy and the coverup of the last 3 years must stop now. Obama, prove who you are or get out of the White House. He must be impeached for election fraud, ineligibility, and for stealing the identity and Social Security number of a citizen of the State of Conn. Stop Obama before he totally destroys our economy and our great country.

      Your right LEE. I also find it hard to believe that not ONE person has come forth as an old girlfriend or knew him in high school. No one has seen HIS college records after over two and a half yrs in office, but even before Rick Perry announced he was going to enter the race, his records were LEAKED to the press.

      BHO got financial intended for international college students but no one can find records of this now???

      His mother knew that raising a mixed race child on her own after his dead beat dad abandoned them, that she would need welfare and could not get it if her child was not born in America so she had it announced in the newspapers.

      It WILL eventually come out that he is not an American citizen. When that happens, everyone that participated in this treason, everyone that has defended him, should face a firing squad.

    Repeat a lie often enough, keep telling people that what has always been regarded as a quality is now evil, destroy the people who are telling the truth… If you haven’t read the book please do, get your children to read it, bring it up at PTA conferences and beg your school system to make this required reading. If Rules for Radicals and books that push homosexuality are required then so should a book that could actually have a legitimate thought provoking experience from a conservative point of view.

    Any prior comments regarding secession by Rick Perry were in response to a totally unresponsive American President who lacks the talent, experience and leadership skills necessary to do the job the American people were duped into hiring him to do. Secession, were it ever actually deemed necessary, would have been the ultimate loyalty to his state, leading his “Republic of Texas” the same as the country we all (knew and) love.

      I have relatives in Texas, and I‘m prepared to buy a little property there on a day’s notice. Just in case.

      It’s also worth mentioning that the Constitution does not prohibit states from leaving the Union. It is their right (though not the right choice IMHO). Lincoln’s virtual declaration of war on the Confederacy, made manifest by the raising of 100,000 troops and the provocation of Fort Sumpter, was effectively unconstitutional.

    If Texas ever did leave the union it would be the beginning of the complete break up of the country. I I hope it doesn‘t ever happen but I couldn’t blame them considering the wanna-be dictator in the White House. Blame Obama. I’ll be sending him a bill for my moving expenses.
