‘Right-Wing’ 24hr News Channel Debuts in Canada

OTTAWA — Canada’s first right-wing 24-hour television news network was launched Monday promising to shake up Canadians‘ views on politics and the day’s events.
But the Quebecor-owned Sun News Network assailed by critics as “Fox News North” continues to suffer from staffing slip-ups and still has not sorted out its distribution.
The specialty channel aims to “challenge the English Canadian TV news establishment,” Quebec media mogul Pierre Karl Peladeau said last year when he unveiled plans for the network.
“Far too many Canadians are tuning out completely or changing their dials to American all-news channels,” he said. “Quebecor sees an untapped market opportunity in English Canadian TV news.”
Sun News Network said it would provide Canadians with “hard news” during the day, and opinion and analysis in evening broadcasts, or as its slogan touts “hard news and straight talk.”
To promote its launch, news anchor Krista Erickson posed in a hockey jersey on the cover of affiliated Sun newspapers while Toronto Sun columnist Peter Worthington said it would “not to be intimidated by political correctness.”

Ask MacLean’s Magazine who spent $250,000 defending themselves against the insane Human Rights Commission in Canada, simply for publishing an interview with Mark Steyn and printing his quotes from radical Islamists. They won the case eventually but there was no restitution for the $250,000 it cost them. Also George Soros tried influence peddling our CRTC to keep this station off the air – even though the CRTC passed Al Jezeera’s request almost overnight.

Yes, tax dollars deduced form our pay checks to own and operated a media empire, the CBC, that includes a Nationwide Radio network,a Nationwide Television network and Internet networks, TIMES TWO EACH, for each official language.
Imagine if you will, for comparisons sake, if American Taxpayers funded ABC with tax dollars, and they did not need turn a profit, because of the constant flow of taxpayers dollars each and every year.
The left wing tried to stop this launch of SUN TV News, and even though they are affiliated with CNN for a video sharing, NOT FOX.

I mean after O’Reilly totally made up evidence to prove Obama was a citizen (i.e. social security number) and then it mysteriously is cut from transcript. I watch FOX but it pushes the likes of Rove, Krautheimer (however it is spelt) and the likes. They are the RINOs we are trying to remove. So, I hope this idea takes off.
Just for the record, I had been a total FOX fan until this past election when I saw how they were trying to control how we vote. Now they are pushing Romney. Trump is not wanted and so you have O’Reilly spewing his lies. At least with Beck, if he didn’t believe something, he would present logical evidence and not just poo-poo something. I respect Beck for this. And the Blaze seems to be following that lead. I like FAIR, BALANCED NEWS, not news with an agenda. I can make up my own mind.

Just because you have read a few books that lean in one direction do not delude yourself into believing it is the only direction. People have good reasons for what they believe, including Beck. I too wonder how a man as smart as he is can follow the LDS, but then I remember back to that guy who won so many Jeopardy TV gameshow shows. He was Mormon too, and one of the smartest most well rounded guys I have seen. That does not change where the Holy Spirit has led me, but it does give me respect for other views as long as they believe Christ is the way truth, and life and claim Him for their Savior.
Just a thought, though I am sure you will remain close-minded to everything except your personal interpretation of truth.

We have a right of center government here now who lowered corporate taxes and now this province is booming. The problem with most Canadians they believed the crap from the CBC, CTV,Global leftist newsmedia. We have had forty years of it. As far as I know it started with Pierre Trudeau. This guy was buddies with Fidel Castro. Castro even went to Trudeau’s funeral. The internet has woken up this country and now with sun tv news on board, its all good. I don‘t have sun yet as my cable provider doesn’t offer it at this time. If they don‘t offer it by the end of this month I’m switching to Shawdirect satellite who does offer it. Watched a clip on sun tv‘s website and all’s I can say is progressive heads are going to explode all over this country.

Even though I have lived in Florida most of my life I was born and raised in upstate New York about 60 miles outside of Niagara Falls. I love the Canadian side of the falls and one of my favorite singers is Gordon Lightfoot and I think being a Lightfoot fan has caused a lot of my fascination with your great country. I really hope that works out for waking up many of our neighbors to the north, and I look forward to catching some of the evening opinion shows hopefully will be able to stream them on the internet.

the claim that Canada is socialist is false. Provinces appear to have more autonomy than the states these days and the only social program that I know of that is different from the US is health care but that is also in the process of changing. The major liberal voting seems to come from some big cities where immigration is a big issue,mainly because of the number of refugees and new immigrants and the entitlements they often cheat to get( or liberals promise them)
Canadians are on a stronger financial footing these days because of tougher banking regulations. All things considered that was probably a good thing that many other countries wish they had in place. The country has not voted in a majority for 5 yrs. this is often done because the people want to make sure that they maintain more control and not give large majorities that will allow the government to run amok as it has lately in the States. Even with the minority government the conservatives have held onto power longer than any other minority government in Canadian history. I’d say the country is much more conservative than most of you think. They just aren’t as loud about it as you are( not as desperate). People have watched the mistakes of more liberal and socialist provincial governments and have learned that giving them power will result in bankruptcy. Canadians appear to be trying to strike a reasonable balance and so far so good.
If it were not for the foolish Harvard prof who decided he could easily become Prime Minister by just showing up, Canadians would not be subjected once again to an unwanted, unwarranted election. Count Iggy Ignatieff knew he could not run for office in the US so he gave up his cushy job for what he was told would be a shoe-in. I think that he may be ultimately responsible for upsetting the apple cart and giving the conservatives a majority instead of the balance preferred. He is well known up there for signing coalition agreements with the other parties in an attempt to grab power and void an election right after the vote. Unfortunately for him the coalition required signing with the one party that wants to break up the country- the equivalent of treason. Generally a non-starter.

Lookit, I had a homeless guy come up to me while I was protesting (all by myself), and tell me there is a civil war coming soon, a revolution of the have nots is about to happen, all at the same time! Alberta is very conservative. Saskatchewan fell 50 years behind the rest of Canada by being gullable enough to believe the socialist paradise BS and repeatedly electing extreme lefty Governments. They have now had enough and have turned to conservatism. The Canadian provinces have much more power to keep the Feds at bay than the states seem to have at this time. Canadians have been kept quiet by government stuffing the passifier of free stuff into their open mouths. Steven Harper is the most conservative prime minister we have ever had and the people like him.(except for the progressives.) A few years ago the reform party of Canada (a very conservative party started in Alberta) came out of nowhere and within a few years destroyed the old progressive conservative party and took it over,changed the name to the conservative party and has been the most popular party in canada ever since. The Canadian MSM is much like their progressive buds in the States so Canadians have been spoon fed liberalism for a few generations. Many many Canadians watch fox news. So there you have it eh.

Funny, Texas lives off of the federal teat, unlike New York and California, Texas sends less money to the Federal government and recieves much more. We have a strong social medicine system that we kind of like, but that does not mean we are socialists. Just look at where we sit at the top of the G20 nations economically, and you will realize that we have had strong conservative leadership where it counts. Sure we have many “takers”, just like the US and a very left-wing MSM, but we care deeply about our freedom and the need for smaller government.

Then all we will need is for our southern conservative neighbors to win their Senate and White House in 2012, and North America will be unstoppable.
So stop worrying about your northern neighbors being socialists. Worry about whether we may leave you behind economically.
PS: Check out our Loonie (nickname for Canadian Dollar) vs.the Greenback. Just a few years ago you called it the Canadian Peso. Now it is worth more than the US dollar.
