‘Right-Wing Bigot!’: Rick Santorum Shouted Down & Glitter Bombed by Occupiers in WA

Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum is no stranger to controversy. While the former Pennsylvania senator has gained the respect and admiration of many on the right, he continues to have run-ins with liberals who oppose his socially-conservative views. Last night, he experienced yet another one of these incidents in Tacoma, Washington, when he was shouted down, then glitter bombed by Occupy protesters.

The Wall Street Journal has more regarding the altercation that unfolded right down the road from the local Occupy encampment:
Shortly after the former senator from Pennsylvania began addressing a receptive crowd, a group of young protesters in the front row began chanting slogans such as “go away” and “right-wing bigot,” a reference to Mr. Santorum’s opposition to gay marriage, one of them said afterward. The surging GOP-candidate then spent the next hour battling the vocal minority. [...]
“What they represent is true intolerance,” Mr. Santorum said. “I don’t think they’re a bigot because they disagree with me.”
He added later, “I understand their frustration. For three years they haven’t been able to find work, they have a president that doesn’t care about them… Their president has left them behind, but we won’t.”

Other outlets went on to describe the chaos that unfolded, with KIRO-7 claiming that there were a number of arrests (including a young woman who allegedly glitter-bombed Santorum). One Occupier claims that the police used a Taser on the protesters as well:
Taking a different angle on the matter, MSNBC’s Chuck Todd discussed the incident and used it to question whether Santorum has the structure needed to run a national campaign, should he secure the GOP nomination:

- Santorum supported the largest expansion of the welfare state since the 1960s, the Medicare Part D prescription drug benefit, which added a $16 TRILLION UNFUNDED LIABILITY to the national debt.
-Santorum supports foreign aid, the process by which the U.S. government borrows money from China and uses it to bribe and prop up foreign governments (including China’s), while taxing Americans to pay interest on the loans.
-After all the death and destruction wrought by the Iraq war, Santorum is now leading the charge for another war of aggression which is based on dubious claims about weapons.
-Santorum sided with big labor unions in opposing a national right-to-work law that would have protected workers from being forced to pay union dues. He supported federal housing programs and government-sponsored enterprises like Fannie and Freddie, which inflated the housing bubble.
-Santorum, collected $100,000 in taxpayer funds from the Penn Hills School District between 2001 and 2005 to pay for online courses for his home-schooled children. He did this by fraudulently claiming residency in Pennsylvania while he and his family actually lived in Washington, D.C.

Santorum, told CNN while defending some of his bad choices to appropriate money that he does regret some votes. “I’ve made some mistakes,” he said.
This country can NOT handle another president that does not stand on strong constitutional principles which would ensure Americans don’t pay the price for such silly mistakes.

(forgive me if I’m wrong and please correct me if I am)…. my guy is Paul, largely because he’s got a record of voting with the constitution. As far as foreign policy goes, his thought is if we go to war, we need to declare it and go through the congress, something we haven’t done. And we go to war to win, not to nation build. Also with the thought that we put our troops to better use on our borders than the border in Germany, or in Afghanistan, etc. But as far as the issues at home, he’s the only guy talking about cutting spending, and you rarely hear the other 3 even talking about freezing spending.
