Riot Police Called in to Restore Order at Tucson School Board Mtg.
Rowdy protesters in Tucson have struck again. And this time, it involves riot police.

Those protesters are hell-bent on keeping the district’s shocking, and concerning, Mexican-American studies program as-is. And while they’re causing a ruckus to prove it, there could be a lot more behind the story — mainly, who’s behind the protests.

At a Tucson Unified School District school board meeting on Tuesday — which was a make-up for one canceled after students chained themselves to board-room desks on April 26 — riot police were called in to restore order after program supporters become restless during the public input section of the meeting.

Local station KGUN-TV describes the scene:

Nine On Your Side Reporter Ileana Diaz was inside at the time and says after the call to the audience the crowd motioned to the Board to continue hearing from the public.  The microphones were turned off and Board Members called for Tucson Police to come inside the room.

Officers in full riot gear escorted Board Members to safety and took control of the room.  Police asked people to be calm so the meeting could continue.  After about 20 minutes the Board Members walked into the room and resumed with the meeting.

KOLD-TV adds:

The crowd turned uncivil at Tuesday night’s TUSD board meeting to discuss its ethnic studies program.

A call to the audience became an opportunity for audience members to confront the district board about its plans for the program. It grew raucous at times, with one man saying the board’s actions were “disgraceful,“ and that he hoped the board members would ”go to hell for it.”

KVOA-TV reports seven people were escorted out of the meeting for interrupting by reading prepared statements. There were also several arrests made, but no reports on exactly how many.

So what exactly has the protesters upset? The answer may surprise you. As we’ve previously reported, the district isn’t trying to ban the program outright. Instead, it wants to make a controversial history class — that calls for “death to the invaders” and was found to advocate overthrowing the U.S. government — an elective instead of allowing it to substitute for required history credits. That’s it. And the disturbing class would still be available to students.

But that’s not the rhetoric coming from the supporters. They’re trumpeting the message that the district is trying to eliminate the program altogether, a tactic used to stir up anger and action.

“Last week brave students from UNIDOS took over the Tucson Union School Board meeting and turned it into a pachanga,” a petition e-mail supporting the student action, and obtained by The Blaze, says. “They chained themselves to the seats to prevent the school board from voting to put ethnic studies on the chopping block. Their action worked.”

Outrage over the program isn’t split down liberal vs. conservative lines. As local citizen journalist Mike Shaw recently found out, some of the biggest advocates of removing the program and class are liberals and Democrats. He also found those who believe the student protest movement is being organized by a state university professor:

According to Shaw, the students are getting support from more then just one academic. While reviewing footage from the April 26 chain-in, he noticed something interesting. According to him, Ward Churchill (the controversial, one-time University of Colorado professor who was fired for his views on 9/11) was spotted supporting the protests:

So what became of the Tuesday meeting? Well, nothing. The board decided not to vote on the Mexican-American studies class pending the completion of community forums on the issue. Another vote has not been scheduled.

“It is clear there is a great deal of misperception and miscommunication about the reason for consideration of this item,” district President John Pedicone said in a statement. “This has resulted in heightened levels of frustration.”

    I am a former school director. That being said, considering the known serious nature of this particular board meeting, the school board, could have called a ‘closed door’ session, AND local law enforcement can be requested if necessary. It is apparent that there must be school directors on this board who want this type of insurrection and demonstration. Wake up you people of Tucson and vote these directors out…..they are not elected for life.

      You are 100% correct. And how many of those brain-washed kids are “anchor” babies who should not have legal citzenship. If they want Mexican history let them pay for their own supplies and tution, on their own time. If I were an Arizona citizan I would be outraged by what these people have done to these kids with our taxpayer dollars. The kids obviously have no respect, how does a teacher deal or teach respect or ethics when it’s not learned in their own homes. Love of what country?

    Ward Churchill was a “ hanger on ” with the SDS and Weatherground during the 60′s/70′s.
    Supposedly gave them instruction on firearms and other military subjects. He might have served in the military at some point in his life.

    This has been going of for at least 60 years now. The Marxist always want to show people what victims they are and how someone else is at fault for their predicament. What is funny is that the government does something creating a problem, turns against it and accuses someone else of causing then act like bigger government is the answer to it. Everything the government does is about gaining more power and growing bigger and many vote for it just so they can get some scraps from the government table. We are continuously hearing about how bad the conditions of government housing and projects are and yet people do not realize that this is what big government do and if you keep voting for it you’re not going to like the out come when these people get rid of the constitution. When you live in a Marxist philosophy based country either you will serve a purpose or you will be done away with. All those government hand out days will be long gone and either you will go to work or your life will be considered as nothing.

    After the students chained themselves to board-room desks, they should have be checked to see if they were students at the school and then checked to see if the were Mexican or American citizens. If not American keep the chains on and send them back to Mexico.

    What a bunch of enabling weaklings. Everyone on that school board should be fired.
    Making it an elective doesn’t remove the subject matter. The school board members should be ashamed of themselves. They should be made to take the class before any kids can take it. The fact that these people are violent about a class, should prove to them that may not want to put them in a class that will encourage and teach them how to be violent against other races and the government.

    The protesters have been heard and been given their opportunity to air their disagreement (albeit in a thuggish manner).

      I have an idea for what to do with the students and protesters that were arrested. Send them out to the desert to perform community service. They can pick up all of the trash that the drug runners and illegals scatter through out the area. They can do it in July when it’s over 100 degrees.

      I want to know why, after the students voiced their concerns and then totally and disrespectfully disrupted the meeting with noise, that the counsil members didn’t just leave the room and go somewhere else to continue their meetining and hold their vote, and leave the students chained where they were yelling their heads off? The only reason these kids are given a voice is because they are students…and that should be taken care of quickly. Whatever happened to expelling disruptive students? Let them go onto the streets and face Americans if they want to use those tactics. It’s time to make Tucson follow an American educational curriculum and send illegals home.

      ahhhh…Ok were to being, Police officers are not the enemy my friend. although from your perspective I understand where you would arrive at such a conclusion. Those so-called Nazi police men are just that ….MEN….and like the good book says some are good and some are bad. I would never believe that all of them would do what they are told when it comes to dis-arming America. I know a few and they would rather quit and/or fight back against those who would seek to do such things, we are Americans …all of us. We love God, country, and the constitution! There is much I would like to say concerning your faith, as you have stated in your reply, but I feel it not appropriate to do so here. In this instance the police responded to maintain order and allow for a purposeful and productive meeting. Knowone can effectively share ideas or comment on issues once the ORDER is lost. To have a bunch of unruly people forcing there idiology and interjecting there beliefs into a debate…..then having someone say that this is free speech, is about as insane as anyone can get. I’m sorry you feel that blacks have been unrightly targeted by the American system, but thats an issue you’ll have to work out on your own. It does seem for the most part that our jails are filled with them, but LAWS are LAWS and RESPECT is RESPECT, break either one and society is forced to deal with those that do. It’s not so simple….I ask you ….how would you deal with those that break the LAW if you were in charge? hummm?       You aren’t taking into account all the defense spending, just what they reveal to you.

      It can’t really be calculated very accurately because of all the black-ops programs- the revelation of which would be neccessary to account for them monetarily. I think it’s safe to say that TRUE military industrial complex spending is INTO THE STRATOSPHERE, at LEAST 5 times what is reported by the government.

      The U.S. military has a total of over 700 military bases in 130 countries around the world. Total military spending by the U.S. government is nearly equal to the combined military spending of the rest of the globe. Meanwhile, the federal government is literally drowning in debt.

      Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld once publicly admitted that the Pentagon lost track of 2.3 trillion dollars and cannot tell us how it was spent.

      Entitlements need to be cut too.

      But first and foremost, we need to stop the Federal Reserve from lending to whoever it pleases and tacking it on our tab.

      Mexican-American studies… ponderthat for a minute esp for those who arent Mexican decent. Im italian I dont recall there being an Italian-American class in my school, I remember doing American history and learning the abbreviated version of it. It wasnt until I got to college I started being taught the real history of this country, more in line with whats been delivered via Becks show.

      So exactly who started this Mex-Amer curriculum in the first place? Last time I checked this is still the USA and AZ is still a territory of the US. To even have this class is appalling, and last time this story was covered I even said FIND OUT who is behind this b/c smart kids do not rise up like this.       As a teacher this really saddens me that children are being used in this way. A teachers role is not to indoctrinate a child in my beliefs but to instruct them in how to develop their own beliefs.
      No wonder our schools are declining. I believe privatizing education is the way to go. Then at least the parents will have some control over what their children are exposed to. Their voice in the form of $$vouchers$$ would speak volumes to the schools.

      Consider the fact that American culture and education were both built on the traditions of its European founders and the philosophies of the Enlightenment thinkers–all European in origin. With regard to economics, however, yes Canada and Mexico are perhaps more relevant as, along with China, among the 3 biggest trading partners of the U.S.. But to say European entities are “irrelevant in regards to education and familiarity of culture within our boundaries of Global Government” is ignoring the historical significance and connection that the U.S. has with Europe that is probably stronger than any cultural connections with Mexico (which, ironically, speaks a European-based language and has a strong economic connection with Spain not to mention owing its religious and cultural attributes to as well).

      Seeing as how Arizona, California, Texas, and other southern states have become culturally overwhelmed by a new alien presence might hint at the need for some study program addressing this dilemma. But with the education funding as choked as it is across the country that would be drastically reducing the scope of education that is really needed in the high school history curriculum. Such a course might be warranted as an elective but with the budget cuts it really shouldn’t even be a consideration any more and should be axed without hesitation.

      These classes should never have been allowed to substitute for American History credits in the first place. NO COURSE should be allowed to substitute for American History. There is no such thing as Black American History. There is no such thing as Italian-American History. There is no such thing as Native American History.       What the hell are you talking about= Manufacture chaos to justify Martial law. The only ones Manufacturing chaos are the students that clearly are a bunch of no sense fools being dragged around by the ear by some other fool. This program should not even be a elective. If this was a class about runnung the Mexicans out of the country there would be law suits and the ACLU, La Raza and all these other crazy ******* groups crying like little girls. These ******* students can get out of the country if they do not like it. American history studies first…No latin hate studies ever!

      What are we teaching our children? How about the TRUTH for a change? I would like you to think outside the box for a moment. Everyone reading this blog is in agreement but sadly the truth is not reaching EVERYONE. The reason why our numbers have not doubled is because of the liberal media. They have managed to do a pretty good job of branding the Tea Party as nothing more than fanatical racists. The TRUTH is out there but it is not reaching across party lines.

      I believe I may have found a way to do just that. I have written an “Open Letter” that instead of bashing Obama’s failed policies, and denouncing his socialistic agenda, I use his own words against him stating the basic principles that more Tea Party members share. If this letter were to be circulated properly it would pose a serious problem for those in power. They would be forced to acknowledge the TRUTH or try to defend their lies.       Why would this school board allow a treasonous class to be taught even as an elective? Why isn’t the state board of education monitoring the contents of this class? What has happened to our country that calling for an overthrow of our govt is being taught in the classroom and we do nothing?

      These unruly students should be banned from future public meetings if they cannot conduct themselves responsibly. If they want to act like children, then they should be treated as such. Can you imagine how disrespectful they probably are to their teachers…..not to mention their parents?

      Manufacture chaos Poverty? In what way? These students actually are protesting something that isn’t even occurring and have been indoctrinated to do so by their elders. The classes aren’t being chopped, they are being made an elective. If these little punks have a problem, there is a proper way to address it, this isn’t it. Their ADULT leaders need to be held responsible. This 60‘s Hippy mentality isn’t going over, it’s not going to cut it. Creating chaos over these kinds of things may have been all the rage in the flower power days, but there are better and REALISTIC methods by which to achieve things. Throwing tantrums and making spectacles and creating obstacles is NOT it. The school board would be within their rights to toss out a book that advocates overthrowing the U.S. government. But they aren’t. They are looking at making it an elective.

      Look at the “protesters” involved! Hispanics and kids whose heads are “filled full of mush”. They think they can take a page from the Wisconsin protests and make thei point with thuggery and anarchy. They should all be thrown in jail for disorderly conduct-just may make them think twice before they try their strong arm tactics!

      Here’s an excellent example of how easy it is for propagandists to brainwash white fools.

      Everything about these ethnic studies claims are no more than outright sedition against their own country, vilifying their own ancestors, yet they lap it all up like the abject fools they are.

      These Mexicans who come here have left a failed state that is so corrupt they have to get permision from the local federale to dig for scraps of food in the dump. If they were to protest against anything that had to do with denigrating their Mexican ancestors or Mexico, they would likely be taken out and shot.

      Yet they run through the streets of this country that so graciously took them in, holding the Mex rag overhead as if they had just defeated us and are considering the terms of our surrender. To add insult to injury, they want to disseminate false information that claims the Southwest US was stolen from them.

      If it is “land” they want, they have plenty of it just south of the border lying vacant and unused. What they really want is the first class civilization built on the land that they couldn’t create themselves, which is blaringly apparent by looking at the failed nation of Mexico.

      It is the elitist American do-gooder fools who created situations like this, and they should be tried and convicted for conspiring to aid and abet sedition and the pitiful dupes doing their bidding should be imprisoned for plotting the overthrow of the US government.
