On Wednesday, blogger and vlogger Fabian Calvo caught up with the “Bible Believers,” a group of controversial Christians who have distinguished themselves for their protests against Islam, among other subjects.
But this week, the troop has apparently turned its attention to the Republican National Convention (RNC), where its members are taking a stand against presidential candidate Mitt Romney and his The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints religious adherence.
Calvo caught up with Ruben Israel, one of the faith leaders who founded the controversial group. As the clip unfolds, Israel can be heard saying, ”As a right-wing conservative myself, you’ve offended me,” in response to party adherents who are willingly embracing Romney as the nominee. It is the candidate‘s faith that is at the center of the protester’s angst.
Here‘s a portion of the transcript from Israel’s controversial comments to Calvo:
“Unfortunately, I am a right wing conservative and I have issues with our party saying that this man is going to represent us. I think he’s a fantastic business man. I think he’s got morality. But when it comes to religion, this is what Mormons wear [Israel holds up Mormon temple undergarments]. And so, I’m waving the dirty laundry of the Mormon church. And you cannot separate a man’s religion from who he is. It‘s like saying he’s not a Republican…can we trust somebody who’s going to get in a pickle, that’s going to pray to a God who told him to wear this [again referring to the undergarments]…we find nowhere in the Bible where we’re supposed to wear this stuff.”
Calvo went on to ask Israel about Glenn Beck’s faith as well. Interestingly, the protester avoided delving into commentary about Beck, although he did dub him “a converted Mormon.” Instead, he turned to radio host Rush Limbaugh, whom he said “has no Christianity,” citing his multiple marriages as purported evidence (Limbaugh isn’t a Mormon).

This might give you a raise, and look good as other comments are being squashed from being heard on this forum. But the word will travel across the internet, about the tactics of TheBlaze, and how unapproved speech is not accepted.
Glenn Beck is a fraud, had he looked into Mormonism the way he looks into the left and Soros, he would have left a long time ago had he read his Bible and had faith in the God of the Bible, and not the scam artist Joseph Smith, who makes L. Ron Hubbard look like an honest and sincere man.
Again this comment will probably only be for TheBlaze staff, unless you think that the tone is so bad that you will post it to make me look bad, being that others have not seen the other posts I have tried to post.

Two points regarding your post:
1.
I understand that you disagree with the person, that views Mormonism as heresy. He did say that there are many upstanding and moral Mormons, as he believes Mitt to be. His point with the under wear was that Mormonism is not Christendom. That with the writings of Joseph Smith and other things they added to their faith including magic underwear has nothing to do with the Bible, and people should not for a moment think as some ignorant people do, that Mormonism is a kind of denomination.
2. To say that “They are not real reporters” I guess to you it is not about content, it is about appearance, that they must look like a reporter, i.e. Andersen Cooper, Katie Couric or Wolf Blitzer. So if one of them did this report you would then consider what they said? That is silly talk at best! Listen, if you disagree that is fine, but to say that they must look like Wolf Blitzer, in order for you to listen, goes to show that you are brainwashed by the mainstream media, who wants to own the right to shape opinion.

You’re correct that promoting the use of “magic underwear” is not biblical. But using sacred garments most definitely is. The under garments the LDS wear is a reminder to the wearer that all shal bow before the LORD, that constant strength comes from God, and that the wearer must always behave in a manner in strict accordance to God’s will and command. These undergarments trace back to ancient Judaic temple worship. ” 9 And the altar of burnt offering with all his furniture, and the laver and his foot, 10 And the cloths of service, and the holy garments for Aaron the priest, and the garments of his sons, to minister in the priest’s office, 11 And the anointing oil, and sweet incense for the holy place: according to all that I have commanded thee shall they do.” (Exodus 31). (Also see http://www.lds.org/scriptures/search?lang=eng&query=garments&testament=ot ). As the one chosen by God to restore the fulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, Joseph Smith restored the knowledge of temple worship which includes the wearing of garments as a reminder to the user to stand firm and righteous before God. There‘s absolutely nothing unchristian in its doctrines or history which stand contrary for a believer to wear specific clothing as a sacred reminder of the relationship of man’s nothingness before God’s almighty existence.

Nor is there anything unchristian about a believer wearing specific garments as a sacred reminder to God’s benevolence towards man.

Saying “Joey Smith” is all I needed to read to know of the level of your sincerity and intellect regarding Mormonism and certainly the content of your post doesn’t betray my conclusion of your sophistication.
Here’s the full context of D$C 130:3 – “1 When the Savior shall appear we shall see him as he is. We shall see that he is a man like ourselves. 2 And that same sociality which exists among us here will exist among us there, only it will be coupled with eternal glory, which glory we do not now enjoy. 3 John 14:23—The appearing of the Father and the Son, in that verse, is a personal appearance; and the idea that the Father and the Son dwell in a man’s heart is an old sectarian notion, and is false.” (Verses 1-3). Here Joseph Smith was speaking of eternal salvation in the presence of God. The context of John 14:23 is as follows, “Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.” Josph Smith was speaking in terms of the interpretation of this specific Bible passage. That the notion that John 14:23 was teaching that the Father and the Son will only abide in the heart for those who who keep the Father’s word is incorrect. That the faithful who keep the Father’s word will be blessed to abide literally in the presence of the Father and the Son. To portray Joseph Smith as renouncing that the Father and the Son do not abide at all in one’s heart is absurdly false.
And you porbably meant “whatmormonsbelieve(dot)org”, no “(dot)com” needed. I‘ll provide the direct link to your citation and note that it wasn’t made by Joseph Smith at all (it doesn’t even colesly follow his speech pattern or style) but by a certain “J. Barney”: http://whatmormonsbelieve.org/mormon_underwear.html
The original source of Joseph Smith saying that God wasn’t from eternity to all eternity is the Kin Follett Report which “Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith” references. KFR as we have it today is a product of about four different authors giving second-hand accounts of that conference and a fifth author piecing together what he thought they all meant. I‘ll leave it up to you and others to decide if that’s a reliable source to learn of Joseph Smith’s teachings. While “Teachings” was first published by the LDS Church it was never official doctrine. Like all prophets, Joseph Smith was also mere man and also free to discuss what he thought personally of spiritual matters as well as prophetically. There is a difference. (con’t)

Even though History of the church is not official LDS doctrine, what you cited by Joseph Smith “boasting” about is factually correct. You just need to put into perspective ‘boast’. He did not mean to say that he was better, nor that God was not given due credit.
Here‘s the full context of Joseph saying he’ll be a god in judgement (which is a correct term as Psalms 82:6 uses it). “The Lord has an established law in relation to the matter: there must be a particular spot for the salvation of our dead. I verily believe there will be a place, and hence men who want to save their dead can come and bring their families, do their work by being baptized and attending to the other ordinances for their dead, and then may go back again to live and wait till they go to receive their reward. I shall leave my brethren to enlarge on this subject; it is my duty to teach the doctrine. I would teach it more fully–the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. God is not willing to let me gratify you; but I must teach the Elders, and they should teach you. God made Aaron to be the mouthpiece for the children of Israel, and He will make me be god to you in His stead, and the Elders to be mouth for me; and if you don’t like it, you must lump it. I have been giving Elder Adams instruction in some principles to speak to you, and if he makes a mistake, I will get up and correct him. (April 8, 1844.) I find the las citation of Joseph Smith factually accurate. The only trouble I have is te capiotaization of the word “His”. Was this in God‘s stead or Aaron’s stead? He capitalizes “Elders” referring to the group of preisthood holder and in LDS theology those with the Aaronic preisthood (named after Aaron) do excercise judgement. Aaron excercised judgement as well in the Bible. Don‘t know but i’m not too troubled by it.

Many Mormons also go through a special Ceremony where they commit their lives to following Gods commandments and using those commandment in their daily lives. After this Ceremony they wear the White Under Garments as a reminder of their commitment.

To fulfill the commandment of this scripture, strictly observant Jewish men commonly wear a special four-cornered garment, similar to a poncho, called a tallit katan. It is worn under the shirt, with the tzitzit (fringes) hanging out so they can be seen. If you’ve ever seen a Jewish man with strings hanging out of his clothing, this is probably what you were seeing.
Mormon garments are very similar in nature, but are worn completely out of view. They are sacred to members of the LDS Church, as they serve as a reminder of covenants made in their temples. What this man is doing is mocking another faith’s most sacred beliefs. What’s the point? You don’t believe what Mormons do? We got it! At least have the basic human dignity to debate on the battlefield of ideas and leave the sacred symbols of a religion alone. It only shows the weakness of his argument that he has to resort to sensational debasement in this manner.

Read their history. They did not marry in the temple to begin with. They had a civil ceremony and her parent’s were that.
With that said, people need to get over the “not being allowed in the temple” for weddings. There is a celebration after for everyone. Even those who go in the temple, there is no wedding attire, just goofy temple clothes. There is no hoopla. It is a 10 minute ordinance and the couple is sent back outside. Couples usually jump into their attire to have pictures taken on the grounds.
If couples wanted to be more mindful of nonmembers, they could easily make the reception reflect whatever it is the others feel are missing. Just because the ceremony doesn’t reflect traditional ceremonies, doesn’t mean nonmembers are not welcomed.

Posted on August 31, 2012 at 9:01am@ STEEL…I’m afraid your statement is way to narrow to the point of being an inaccurate reflection of the world we live in. EVERYONE battles over what they believe is the truth, whether atheist or christian, liberal or conservative, pro-life or pro-choice (I hate that label), it is not any way contained to just the religious. Your statement, in fact, is a veiled and subtle assertion of your own position based in what you see as truth. Therefore, to highlight this episode to implicate the religious in batteling over their version of the truth is hypocritical in my opinion as EVERYONE does the same to one degree or another. Thank you….

I’m scared of me. Weren’t you in Texas one time something about a hanging judge? Or was that Lily Langtry?

Posted on August 31, 2012 at 9:20amNo conservative I know would run around the RNC with a pair of dirty underwear protesting. Sounds more like just another liberal that has lost their marbles since realizing Obama is getting shown the door.

Posted on September 1, 2012 at 9:13pmLooking at the lack of modesty in dress, I commend the Mormons for wearing Temple Garments and always covering them up with their clothing. I am so sick of seeing cleavage and knees in church!
Report Post »Why is everyone so obsessed with what kind of underwear Mormons wear? Sounds as if those who are ignorant of the Mormon faith (and who just repeat what everyone else says without checking it out for themselves) have some sort of underwear fetish.
I highly recommend that everyone worship with the Mormons just once, for the complete 3 hours, and then give an informed opinion. As a Catholic (who wears a Scapular under her clothes), I was very impressed with their love for Jesus, and I have a LOT of respect for them. I will worship with them again.
